Chapter 93: Payback

"I don't understand, you're trying to say that idiot is notorious in the bar industry?!" May wailed from the washroom after crying for a long while as she washed her face.

Qiu Yeh quickly passed her a towel to wipe her wet dripping face.

"Yes, that's exactly what I said." He led her to the dressing table before wiping the wet floor with the floor mat. She had not noticed his peculiar neat habits till she sat by the dressing table and applied makeup. She caught him in the reflection drying up the wet washroom.

"So, you said you had a video of them?" She asked while applying lipsticks. He was walking out of the washroom while quickly opening up the video and wanted to hand her his phone when he realised she had just touched up her makeup.

"Are you sure?" He asked not wanting her to cry again and waste all her makeup as she sighed.

"This isn't my first time being cheated. Trust me, my love luck sucks… But I'm glad I didn't dive deep this time. You know I thought someone who had a rich background would not be leeching off me but boy was I so wrong. Ting Ting would be repeating like a recorder "I told you so"." She looked away and took a deep breath as Qiu Yeh left the phone in front of her.

He walked away into his own room to let her have some time alone. Instead of hearing her cry again, he heard a knock a few minutes later. He opened the door and saw the slaying look of May as she touched up her makeup with extra eyeliners.

"Thanks." She said while returning his phone.

"So, I assume you have a plan for me?" She asked knowing Qiu Yeh would always have a strategic plan in mind constantly especially when it revolved around his assets and wealth.

"Only if you would like to seek revenge. Besides, as a curator in your own gallery, I'm sure you would do a good job in selecting a few good pieces to be displayed around the cruise?" He offered as May folded her arms and gave a thought.

"Are you sure it's not because of Ting Ting?" She daringly teased as Qiu Yeh smirked.

"Long past that. Honestly, this new business is still in the making. If you do have suggestions, I would even be more delighted." He offered while stepping out to reach into his luggage to change his clothes.

"How much do you pay?" She asked while trailing him.

"Market price of course." He nonchalantly said but she was not satisfied with the ambiguous answer.

"What exactly is in store for you Xavier?" She asked directly being impatient.

"It's nothing personal. Just business this time. If you think you can afford it, then join us as a shareholder. A couple of expensive paintings in exchange is not a bad deal. Meanwhile, let's get the admin to refund your room's payment first. Don't worry, I have spoken with Mr. Kallen, who has gotten used to such calls from our industry. He won't be able to pay for anything." He tempted her again as a smile flashed on her face before nodding. She was impressed that he had already learned Lance's last name and looked for the right person to handle the mess.

"You're quick when it's money, aren't you? Alright, bring it on!" She concluded as she went to change as well in another room.

She was extremely thankful for the change of events especially since she had an upgraded room plus a business opportunity. Love luck can come by another day she thought as after all she loves money the most.

Lance and Nicole were still in bed asleep when the concierge came to knock on their door. Groggily, Lance went to answer the door.

"Sir, we would need to ask you to evacuate the room as your payment has been declined." The head of the receptionist announced while Lance fumed.

"What?! How could that be?! My girlfriend had paid all these before we even boarded!" Lance bellowed as the receptionist's gaze looked into the room and Lance realised they thought it was Nicole.

"You may provide us with other cards to process the payment." The receptionist suggested as Lance fumbled for his wallet to find all his cards were barred. The receptionist had no choice but to get them out of the room. As the couple scurried to get dressed properly and packed their luggage, Lance told Nicole to wait for him by the second deck while he went looking for May.

May was in a dashing maroon strapless dress accompanying Qiu Yeh on his site visit with her new title, a potential investor at the first deck where all the dining area was. Lance spotted them on their tour as he rudely barged up to May but was surprised at her dashing look for a moment.

"Who are you?! Security!" Qiu Yeh complained while putting on a show. Security began to keep Lance under control while he shook himself out of his momentary spell.

"May! Sweetie! What happened to our payment for the cruise? I got kicked out of the room… Sweetie…" Lance wanted to barge in front of May but she took a step back as she tried very hard to suppress her smile.

"Who are you? I don't know you." May said arrogantly which nearly drove Lance insane.

"May, I'm Lance Kallen! Your boyfriend! Don't you… Who is this? What are you doing with this man?!" Lance bellowed roughly as May maintained her demeanor.

"I have absolutely no idea who are you…" She said while shaking her head. That was when Carl jumped in to clarify to Lance the situation.

"Sir, we will need to escort you and your companion down at the next stop, "Crossihead" in half an hour due to unsettled payments. This is against our policy. Please cooperate with us." Carl said solemnly as Lance began to rage while being held tight by the securities.

May and Qiu Yeh then walked off to the second deck to continue their visit. Little did May expect Nicole to be waiting for Lance there. May purposely swapped her half-empty flute of champagne with Qiu Yeh's which was full swiftly. She flashed him a wink as he halted his steps awaiting for the show unveiling.

She walked past Nicole and purposely bumped into her before acting as though she accidentally poured her champagne on Nicole. Nicole was shrieking in anger and was surprised when she realised she was drenched in champagne. Nicole nearly slapped May but was caught by May right in front of Lance who was escorted to the second deck.

"Oops…" May said without apologising. She stared right into Lance's eyes to prove that she knew about his secret affairs before turning around to walk off. Before Nicole could run and catch up to May to retaliate, the security had already caught her while Carl repeated the same verse he did with Lance to her.

Nicole was caught in utter embarrassment and demanded that the owners meet her to apologise by creating a commotion. Carl conveyed the message to Qiu Yeh and May while they were enjoying dinner at the VIP longue.

"What do you think? We have ten minutes to continue the show before ditching them off the cruise." May said while sipping her white wine calmly.

"You decide." He smiled as May grinned and ordered for them both to be brought in.

"Why are you bringing us to them again?! We want to meet the owners!" Nicole demanded as Lance began to slowly understand the entire situation he had brought upon himself.

May winced at Nicole's high-pitched voice for a moment before she stood and Nicole finally kept quiet.

"Finally shutting up for a moment? You're very noisy for someone who's about to disembark!" May snapped while rolling her eyes.

"Who do you think you are to speak to me this way? It's no wonder Lance didn't want you!" Nicole yelled which stunned everyone at her boldness to admit. May chuckled before she sat back down and met Lance's gaze before raising a questioning eyebrow at him but he continued to keep quiet guiltily.

"I have nothing to say. Leave at the next stop." May turned to face the sea as she shuddered in anger and forced her stinging tears away.

"No! We want to meet the owners!" Nicole demanded as Qiu Yeh knew May had reached the peak of her emotions, so he stood to help.

"We are the owners. In case you haven't noticed, you're interrupting precious time in our business discussion. I'm afraid we would like to charge you both for the sunken costs incurred in wasting time managing both of your commotions?" Qiu Yeh's come back somewhat managed to amuse May who was facing the sea and secretly smiling.

Xavier being Xavier. I love money so much but not as much as he does. He is the real deal. May thought to herself.

"May! Is what he said true?" Lance finally spoke up but May rolled her eyes and continued to ignore him.

"I'm sorry baby! Could you give me one more chance, please?! May!" Lance yelled when the security pulled the couple out of the place to prepare for disembark. Lance's last line raised cringy hair ends all over May as she drank the whole glass of refilled white wine to shrug away the shiver.

Qiu Yeh sat back at the table to enjoy his dinner quietly while letting May enjoy the sight of the sunset overlooking their balcony peacefully.

"Thank you." She said when the announcement of the ship continuing its' journey was made.

He raised his glass of red wine to cheer with her newly refilled white wine glass.

"To a good collaboration, new shareholder." He toasted as she chuckled. "It made me wonder just how did my best friend whom you found for me fail to fall for you, Mr. Tang?" She teased as Qiu Yeh was not comfortable with the topic so he kept quiet.

"Come on, did you make it clear with her yet?" She continued to pester.

"I think you're drinking too much. It's time to call it a night." He concluded as she laughed.

"You're stuck with me practically for another two days. I have plenty of time prying. No rush." She teased again as she downed the glass of white wine.
