When Xue Ting entered the car, she was digging for her vibrating phone in her bag as she put the bouquet behind the car where Qiu Wen had just left the bags of fruits. Qiu Wen who was making his way to the driver's seat was whistling a happy tune. When she found her phone, she saw Grandma's miss calls and wanted to return the call but she manage to capture a text message from her saying the old couple wanted to visit them tomorrow.
She gasped loudly when Qiu Wen entered the car.
"Why? What happened?" He peeped into her phone and saw Grandma's message.
"Oh. Hmmm... Alright just nice since I promised the twins and Brisbane to visit the animal shelter. Why not?" Qiu Wen shrugged his shoulders as he started the car.
"What?! And you didn't tell me earlier?! I haven't prepared anything and I have to work." Xue Ting freaked out as Qiu Wen chuckled.
"Don't worry... We just bring them over to the restaurant to eat for lunch thereafter. Besides, the Wei's family is calling for dinner tomorrow night with the old ones. I have no choice but to show myself for a brief moment for Qiu Yeh's business' sake." Qiu Wen calmly explained to her as he gently patted her head.
"Oh, alright." Xue Ting said in a little surprise about the dinner as he twitched her nose gently before starting to drive home.
She realised something had changed between them that night. They started holding hands naturally and there was more body contact like how they used to be in high school. It felt like it was only yesterday when he held her hand walking her home from lectures that James didn't attend. Since she tends to be absent-minded while looking for stuff in her bag and bumped into things in front of her such as a lamp post, a bush, or people, Qiu Wen had always been on the lookout for her.
That sends her giggling to herself. "What's so funny? Hmmm... What's in your witty mind?" Qiu Wen asked.
"Nothing...:" She giggled again as he twitched her nose again as they stopped at a traffic light while her eyes watched him dandily.
When they reach home, they found the twins were asleep with Brisbane in front of the television in the living room. She went over after leaving her bouquet on the dining table, wanting to have a look at them but it woke Joy and Matthew.
"Mummy…" They called out softly in unison noticing Brisbane was asleep but in fact, Brisbane was also slowly waking up. She just couldn't bring her tired eyes to open.
"Hey sweetie… You should go to bed." Xue Ting urged the twins as Qiu Wen crouched next to her.
"Come let me carry her upstairs." He offered as he reached out to Brisbane.
"You're home early today…" Matthew said softly to Xue Ting who was smiling and bothering with his face. Xue Ting nodded to the twins while Qiu Wen who was about to carry Brisbane in his arm stopped halfway as Brisbane opened her eyes and turn to look at Xue Ting.
"Mummy…" She said while rubbing her eyes as everyone was stunned for a moment. It wasn't the first time Brisbane did that and Xue Ting nonchalantly shrug it off knowing Brisbane must have missed her mother.
"Sweetie, hello… don't, don't rub your eyes. It will hurt. Uncle Ryan will carry you upstairs to bed alright?" Xue Ting coaxed as Brisbane half nodded.

"But I miss you, Sicily …" Brisbane pulled a tug in Xue Ting's hug as Brisbane crawled over to hug her instead. Xue Ting could feel just how much Brisbane must have missed her mother just from her hug. A sting was felt in her eyes as she blinked back the tears.
Xue Ting then carried Brisbane into her arms and kissed her forehead. "Alright, let's head upstairs. Let's all go to bed alright?" She was looking at the twins as they both nodded before Xue Ting walked upstairs with Qui Wen.
When Qiu Wen was about to climb into bed after showering, he beamed at the view in front of him. Xue Ting whose sweet-smelling shampoo was wafting to his nostril, was in bed wrapped up with Brisbane as he gently tucked them both into the blanket.
Xue Ting then stirred and quickly held his hand as he sat by her side.
"Hey, I wanted to ask…" She said as Qiu Wen helped her sit up.
"Yes, what is it?" He gently put some loose hair behind her ear.
"When can we bring her to see Pam? You know…" Qiu Wen held her hand to comfort her after noticing her teary eyes. She wiped her tears away instantly trying to suppress her uncontrollable sadness.
"Sorry, I don't mean to… It's just being a mother, I can't help but let what she felt influence my motherly instincts…" Qiu Wen smiled at her explanation.
"Don't apologise. It's not your fault. Let me check with Dan tomorrow. Don't think too much either." Qiu Wen coaxed while wrapping her in his arms. Xue Ting nodded and eased into his embrace as he gently patted her arm till she fell asleep.
The next morning, Xue Ting woke up to find the sun was shining brightly but Brisbane and Qiu Wen was nowhere to be found. She checked the clock to see it was already seven thirty and saw she was late to prepare breakfast. Noting that it was a Sunday, she hurriedly went to shower and dressed for work.
As she rushed downstairs, she was greeted by the two puppies. She quickly rush to feed them only to find their food container was already filled. The entire event send her panicking as she checked her phone and quickly read a message from Qiu Wen telling her that he had brought all of them for breakfast with Grandpa and Grandma before they head to the animal shelter.
He also updated her that since she wasn't working the next day, Dan had agreed for Brisbane to visit her mother who was more or less in a stable condition. Xue Ting sigh in relief as she rushed to the cafe and only then she remembered she hasn't shown the contract to Qui Wen yet.
"Sicily, how was the discussion last night?" Macy asked while preparing the batter for the cupcake.
"It's alright but we need to decide on a compensation amount and am not too sure if the contract is set out appropriately. I am looking for professional help before I speak with Uncle and Auntie Jang." Xue Ting explained.
"Don't worry. No matter what your decision is, Uncle and Auntie Jang are always supportive of them." Xiao Ji comforted as she entered the kitchen. "That's true!" Macy supported Xiao Ji as they three laughed together.
"How's married life treating you? Looks good lately with Mr. Tang. The twins seem to get along with him so well…" Macy asked as Xue Ting blushed a little.
"It's alright. All is well." Xue Ting smiled while giving a standard answer.
"Your sudden marriage is really shocking but glad that it feels like you both knew each other very long and getting along well. Quick, have a baby since you both are already babysitting!" Xiao Ji teased as Macy giggled along.
"Follow the flow…" Xue Ting said as she blushed.
"We have known each other long ago and we even had the twins… I did it but…" Xue Ting thought to herself as she shrugged her thoughts away when Brisbane ran into the kitchen hugging her.
"Mummy!" Brisbane quietly called her when Xue Ting crouched to embrace her.
"Sweetie! You're back! Did you enjoy yourself?" Xue Ting quickly asked hoping Macy and Xiao Ji didn't hear her.
"Yes! Qiu Qiu's puppy is all grown up now and she is soooooo cute! We went home to fetch Autumn and Dolly here!" Brisbane described cutely when Qiu Wen walked in with the twins from the yard's door as Xue Ting kissed Brisbane's forehead.
"Hey, you're all back!" Xue Ting greeted them as she stood to embrace her twins. "Where's Grandpa and Grandma?" She asked as Qiu Wen pointed outside at the yard.
"Oh, oh let me greet them. Feel free to order lunch alright all of you." She said while leading Brisbane with her before leaving the kitchen while the twins nodded.
While Xue Ting enjoyed a quick lunch with the elders and her family before the lunch peak hour, Grandma pulled her to the side to talk.
"Ting Ting, it's so good to see you again," Grandma said as Xue Ting let her hold her hand.
"Grandma, sorry that we left without even greeting you and Grandpa last night. It was so bad of us." Xue Ting apologised as Grandma shook her head.
"My good child, don't worry about such things, would you? Grandma always knows you're a nice girl and I am so glad that it's you standing by Wen Wen's side and not Wei's daughter. As for my daughter…" Grandma sighed and shook her head.
"Grandma, we are all mothers and we want the best for our children. Don't worry about Mother. She just wants what's best for Wen Wen. I understand it and so you can to Grandma…" Xue Ting comforted as Grandma caressed her cheek.
"How could you still speak for her despite all that she had done? You're truly a loveable girl, Ting Ting. I want to come to visit all of you every week from now on. I am so happy that you have such great children Ting Ting. It must have been hard on you all these years?" Grandma asked as Xue Ting shook her head.
"Who are their father?" Grandma asked. Xue Ting didn't want to lie but she couldn't bring herself to tell her the truth as she sat keeping quiet for a long while.
Grandma finally gave up pushing her for an answer as she knew just at a glance and with her reaction, whose children were they. She understood Xue Ting's predicaments so she patted her shoulder as she dismissed their conversation.
"Don't forget to give me another grandchild. Little Brisbane is so adorable and you're so great with her!" Grandma praised as Xue Ting chuckled watching her walk over to Brisbane who was playing with Grandpa.
"I'm sorry, Grandma…" Xue Ting said in her heart feeling guilty but yet she was helpless about it.
