Xue Ting drew a deep breath as she began to express her thoughts.
"Pam… Would you like to seek counseling help? I do some volunteer work in this hospital in the children's ward with those who have anxiety issues once a month to teach them... At first, it was to repay my debt for my delivery of the twins. So, feeling bad that I owe them for so long and paying them too slowly, I took up the job. Now, I am doing it cause I genuinely want to help those kids with their anxiety issues. Perhaps, not only sending Brisbane there would help her help others and herself but also you should probably join women who had similar issues?" Xue Ting suggested as Pam looked at her with hope. Feeling moved, she couldn't help but embrace Xue Ting and cried.
"Take your time… Think about it and let me know. I will help you make arrangements." Xue Ting comforted.
"Thank you…" She said briefly in between her sobs as Xue Ting smiled looking at Dan while gently patting her shoulder.
"You're most welcome. Now, clean up. We should let little Brisbane come and show us her art." Xue Ting coaxed as she passed her some tissues while Pam chuckled wiping away her tears.
Dan looked at Xue Ting with gratitude as he smiled when Xue Ting's eyes met his.
"Thank you…" Xue Ting read his lips as she smiled.
"Hurry, go get my husband and our little angel here." She urged Dan who nodded and walked out of the room at ease that Pam has found a new friend.
The next day, Xue Ting brought Brisbane to the preschool with Qiu Wen and the twins after requesting to take a later shift for the day. Brisbane skipped along with the twins as they accompanied her to the gate when the principal came to greet them.
"Sicily, it's so good to see you and the twins again!" Mrs. Kwan greeted as she gave Xue Ting a friendly hug. "Mdm. Kwan." The twins greeted in unison as they bowed.
"Oh, you're both so tall now! This must be your husband, Mr. Tang?" Xue Ting nodded.
"It's all over the news and in school. It's a pleasure to finally meet you, Mr. Tang." Mrs. Kwan greeted him with a handshake.
"Pleasure to meet you too. Heard a lot about you avoiding the union meeting monthly." Qiu Wen said as Mrs. Kwan chuckled. "What use is there to waste time there? It's really unnecessary."
"True indeed. Hence, the reason why I focus on spending more on your school instead." Qiu Wen agreed as the union was of many rich families in town as the school's management, for the lack of a better word, beg for money for the school's expenses from them in the union's monthly meeting. Mrs. Kwan didn't need it or rather she just didn't want to owe any parents' favor for fear of being blackmailed.
Mrs. Kwan smiled and nodded. "Thank you very much…"
"Mummy! Mummy! The birds are flying away!" Brisbane squealed and giggled by Xue Ting's side. They were all interrupted by Brisbane who was leaping suddenly as she saw the bird at a corner flying away.

"Oh dear, who is this little girl? Sicily, did you just have another baby secretly?" Mrs. Kwan questioned as she crouched down to pat Brisbane's head. Everyone was chuckling as Xue Ting shook her head.
"No, no not like that. She is a friend's child. Her mother had an unfortunate accident recently so we had to look after her. She had somewhat grown attached that we let her call me her mummy. We are looking if we could register her here for school." Xue Ting explained as Mrs. Kwan stood smiling.
"It would be nice if you have another baby soon then I can see you more often." Mrs. Kwan sincerely said it which made Xue Ting blink momentarily knowing it was impossible though it was her hope as well.
"Sure! Get that it's a done deal. She can come tomorrow and join the class!" Mrs. Kwan announced as Xue Ting beamed in happiness.
"Thank you so much Mdm. Kwan!"
"Don't thank me. Thank your husband for the goodwill he gave to the school. Head over to the office and complete the registration. Don't forget to come and visit me often, busy woman!" Mrs. Kwan teased Xue Ting.
Xue Ting chuckled as she nodded. "Alright, alright. I will. Come by the cafe. I will treat you to a coffee whenever." She offered instead as the twins quickly excused themselves to their school at the sound of the school bell.
"You should go too. I can handle the registration." Xue Ting told Qiu Wen as he shook his head.
"It's alright. I have a late meeting today in Wai Tao. I'm free in the morning." He assured as he led them both to the administration's office with the principal leading the way.
It was a feeling as though he was walking the path he missed when she registered the twins to school as the couple smiled at each other with Brisbane skipping excitedly.
That night, after the doctor had confirmed Pam could discharge the next day, Dan sat with Pam to go through their plans again.
"Looks like you are recovering quicker than expected!" Dan cheered as Pam chuckled.
"Have you thought of my suggestions?" Dan asked solemnly moments later as Pam smiled.
"You gave plenty. Which one are you trying to confirm this time?" Pam teased as Dan chuckled.
"About helping me out at the bakery?" Dan smiled as Pam smiled shyly.
"I'm not too sure if I could do a good job… I don't want to give you any more trouble." Pam said as Dan held her hand.
"Everything has to start somewhere. If you don't try how would you know? Besides, I need help urgently." Dan persuaded.
"Alright, let's give it a try for a month when you recover. Meanwhile, we will shift over to my place probably next week. Let's help Brisbane settle down for now. Then, I will slowly introduce you to the job. What do you think?" Dan suggested as Pam remained a little hesitant but nodded in the end.
Dan gave her a comforting hug. "Don't worry Pam. Don't worry. You have me now." He reassured as Pam smiled leaning onto his chest, feeling all secured and assured for once.
The next day, Dan had already prepared in mind in advance to prepare dinner for Qiu Wen's family. He checked with Qiu Wen on the time the twins would be home and it was just nice the timing for Pam to be discharged. He also told Qiu Wen to let him fetch Brisbane from school on the first day with Pam. All the family had to do was go about with their chores and head home for dinner. Qiu Wen wondered what was in store as he informed Xue Ting and the twins before sitting in meetings for the entire day in Wai Tao.
Brisbane was overjoyed to see Pam and Dan as the twins hopped in the car with the couple to a brief lunch before they reached home to rest. Xue Ting took an early shift to be home on time with the kids to prepare dinner for their guests only despite being told Dan offered to cook. She felt guilty to let her guests do so but she was too late as she found Dan in their kitchen while Joy was completing her online order and Matthew was halfway composing a new song.
"So sorry you had to come and cook! You should let us do it. You're a guest after all." Xue Ting said as she hurriedly put on an apron while Dan chuckled.
"Chill, sister-in-law! Let me treat everyone to my cooking as a token of appreciation. All of you had helped a lot that words cannot express our gratitude. Go ahead, get change, and call brother-in-law to check where he is. Dinner is almost ready." Dan explained as he pushed her out of the kitchen.
She stood watching Dan meddling all by himself in the kitchen feeling guilty as Joy walked out.
"We tried. But he insisted. Go, mummy. Get change. I will call Daddy." Joy offered as Xue Ting reluctantly nodded and went upstairs.
She saw Pam was awake while adoring Brisbane who was asleep by her side as she walked into their room and knocked gently on the door.
"Sicily… You're home!" Pam whispered as Xue Ting smiled and nodded.
"Are you settling down well? Sorry for not being able to be around while you're moving in…" Xue Ting apologised as she squatted by the bedside.
"Oh, please don't be. We are very contented and grateful to all of you." Pam said as she gently patted Brisbane who was stirring in her sleep.
"The twins were of great help by the way! You taught them really well, Sicily… It must be tough isn't it?" Pam praised as Xue Ting smiled looking down on the floor with complicated thoughts about her own life.
She sighed a the thought of asking about James to Qiu Wen while Pam gently rubbed her left arm to comfort her.
