"It's alright Brisbane. You're in Uncle Ryan's home. I am Sicily, his wife. Are these your puppies?" Xue Ting waited awhile for her response but she was a little shy. "Can you tell me what are their names?" Xue Ting continue to coax Brisbane as she straightened Brisbane's messy hair.

"That's my puppy, Autumn..." Brisbane pointed at the retriever puppy. "And that's Brownie, Uncle Dan's puppy." She pointed at the beagle as she chirped back shyly but was more relaxed. Seeing Xue Ting smile sweetly at her, Brisbane was beginning to like her a lot.

"Awww how lovely their names are. As pretty as you, Brisbane..." Xue Ting continued to keep her comfortable as she saw Brisbane begin to smile even more.

"Hungry? Who wants milk and teddy cookies?" Xue Ting said in a cheerful manner with her arms wide open, squatting in front of her as Brisbane instantly brightened up at the sound of cookies and ran into her arms. Qiu Wen watched them interact at ease as he sat on the couch trying to catch his breathe.

Xue Ting then carried Brisbane into the kitchen for her to enjoy the small snacks. Xue Ting tried to lure both puppies into the kitchen with a container of drinking water for them but realise they must be hungry too.

"Qiu Wen, did you grab the dog food or treats along?" She asked as she stepped outside of the kitchen for a moment but noticed Qiu Wen was slowly dosing off. She quickly went to prepare some oatmeal for him, afraid that his gastric might return.

"Tough night?" She gently asked while sitting next to him on the couch when he opened his eyes.

"Here, a quick dinner?" She offered as he grabbed onto the bowl groggily.

"Oh, thanks! I'm so hungry! " Qiu Wen instantly woke and nearly gobbled down everything in a short period of time.

"Slow down. I will fetch some milk for you?" She said wanting to leave for the kitchen but he caught her right arm as he shook his head.

"Then, would you want to join her in the kitchen? I am not comfortable leaving her alone. She must be traumatised..." Xue Ting was walking towards the kitchen after Qiu Wen nodded. She briefly stopped at the entrance while watching Brisbane happily eating the teddy cookies. Qiu Wen who was trailing her from behind, stood by her side observing Brisbane as well with his empty bowl.

"She was traumatised before this. Dan said it wasn't the first time. But somehow Brisbane can always switch her mood as though she would forget… In fact, I was surprised she was so brave to adapt to situations and when Dan wanted to hand her over to me, for a moment I thought she would throw her tantrum but she didn't. She obediently obliged." Qiu Wen explained as Xue Ting frowned.

"That's absurd... She needs some medical treatment. Is her mother awake yet?" Xue Ting whispered as Qiu Wen shook his head.

"Trust me she is diverting the trauma. It's not healthy but she is indeed a very brave girl." Xue Ting said, expressing her worries as Qiu Wen sighed.

Hearing him sigh made Xue Ting stop worrying him any further. "Don't worry. We will monitor her. I will shower her and get her ready for bed first." Xue Ting said as Qiu Wen nodded for her to enter the kitchen.

"How were the cookies, sweetie? Delicious?" Xue Ting chirped again as Brisbane nodded and shook her leg excitedly indicating she was satisfied.

"It's alright. I will help you to finish them. You should go with Aunt Sicily to shower?" Qiu Wen said as he sat beside Brisbane.

"Can I call her Sicily? I like her..." Brisbane finally spoke and it instantly melted Xue Ting's heart when Qiu Wen looked at her holding on to his arm.

Xue Ting nodded and held her arms out to Brisbane wanting to carry her down from the chair. Brisbane let her carry her to shower as the puppies trailed along. "Of course, you could sweetie… Let's head for a shower alright?" Xue Ting gently said as she pecked Brisbane's forehead.

Qiu Wen caught himself staring into space even after Xue Ting and Brisbane left as he quickly dunked the cookies into the milk before he gulped down the glass of milk when his stomach was growling. He didn't even realise how hungry he was from all the chaos earlier and he couldn't imagine how tough it was for Brisbane. He was eager to see Xue Ting interacting with Brisbane again as it was a moment he had always imagined while growing up dreaming about having a family with her.

He was startled by the barks of the puppies upstairs as he quickly went to gather Brisbane's bag pack. He noticed the twins weren't home yet when he entered the guest's room. He stood outside the washroom's door waiting for Xue Ting to finish bathing Brisbane who, from what he could tell was having a great time splashing water at the puppies making them bark at her occasionally.

"Alright, that's enough. Let's continue tomorrow shall we?" Xue Ting said as she wiped Brisbane dry.

"You don't wanna catch a cold do you?" Xue Ting giggled as Brisbane couldn't stop laughing. Xue Ting wrapped her in the towel and carried her out of the bathroom when she caught Qiu Wen waiting for them.

"Oh hey...Have you eaten enough? Do you want something heavier?" Xue Ting asked Qiu Wen as Brisbane giggled and shook excitedly in Xue Ting's arms. Qiu Wen was about to reply when Xue Ting nearly slipped from the wet floor.

Qiu Wen quickly rushed to support her from behind. "You're alright?" Qiu Wen asked in the midst of wiping off the wet floor with the floor mat while Xue Ting walked to the front a little before putting down Brisbane on the bed.

"Yes, yes... My goodness... Scary.." Xue Ting mumbled as she quickly wipe Brisbane dry who seemed to be enjoying herself.

"Fun!" Brisbane cheered as Qiu Wen went into the washroom to wipe the puppies dry.

"Fun? That's scary too... Alright, what are you wearing to sleep? Did you bring anything to change?" Xue Ting asked looking around for her bag pack.

"Oopsy... We did not… I took some dresses for outdoors only." Qiu Wen said on cue from the washroom and got Brisbane giggling again.

"Can I wear your shirt? Mummy always let me..." Brisbane chirped asking Xue Ting while she wrapped Brisbane back inside the towel.

"Hmmm... What about I lend you baby Joy's shirt? You will love them... Come..." Xue Ting carried Brisbane to a cupboard and took a box out for her to dig behind the cupboard doors. Qiu Wen caught himself anticipating to take a look at the twins' baby clothes as he quickly finished drying the puppies.

"Please feel free to choose Princess Brisbane..." Xue Ting giggled as Brisbane sneezed while picking up her sleepwear.

"Quickly, quickly, the cold is catching you!" Xue Ting said with a scary voice which made Brisbane shriek and giggled at the same time.

Qiu Wen beamed watching the interaction and realise how good Xue Ting was with kids when he came out from the washroom. No wonder the twins were still clingy to her at this age. She has a strong source of attraction that just flow and brightens anyone's day in a blink. She never failed to do that, even with him and James back when they were growing up together.

He didn't notice little Brisbane picked a dog-printed dress to bed until she finally got dressed and twirled in front of him while tugging onto his hand. He smiled as he carried her swiftly in his arm.

"That looks pretty... Shall we go to bed now, princess?" Qiu Wen attempted to imitate Xue Ting. Brisbane nodded as he kissed her forehead before letting her rest her head on his shoulder.

"But I want to sleep with Sicily and the puppies..." Brisbane chirped as she clapped her hands up in the air in the next second.

Joy and Matthew who had just reached home then went up to see what was the excitement about after hearing a little girl's voice and some barks from the puppies. When they walked past Xue Ting's room to greet her, it was a huge surprise for the twins to find that there was really a little girl in the house and two puppies.

"Why... Who's that little girl in my dress?" Joy teased as she smiled and walked in to greet her. Joy was ready to carry her from Qiu Wen but Brisbane was all eyes on Matthew instead.

"It's my friend's daughter... She is staying for the night." Qiu Wen explained as Xue Ting cleared up the mess in the washroom.

Matthew didn't really greet her after hearing Qiu Wen's brief explanation. He went straight to his room as he begin to worry about if Brisbane was probably the daughter of Qiu Wen with another woman and was also suspecting Qiu Wen was lying.

Brisbane on the other hand was still eyeing and pointing at Matthew's room after he left when Joy struggled in an attempt to carry her.

"What is it? You want to find Matthew?" Joy asked as Brisbane nodded. "Alright come, I will bring you..." Only then did Brisbane agree to let Joy carry her.

Qiu Wen was half glad Brisbane was off his weight for a bit as he needed to check on Xue Ting who was busy cleaning up the washroom. He stepped in with her cleaning up the sink.

"Hey, is there anything else you need to do?" Qiu Wen asked as Xue Ting turned around to find him standing really close to her by the sink.

"None... Except for putting Brisbane to bed..." She mumbled as she tried to blink her eyes and move away. Qiu Wen then quickly nodded after clearing his throat before he went out of the room. Xue Ting managed to catch her breath for a moment as she tried to shake off her blush and trailed along moments later.
