Chapter 88: Should have thrown her into the jungle

Amidst the fun and hype, little Brisbane was fast asleep in Jia Yi's arms while he was much more comfortable conversing with Liew Wei.

"Didn't know Mrs. Tang is such a great singer? The entire family is so talented." Liew Wei praised while nibbling on some skewers as Jia Yi hummed in agreement.

"We did well today navigating all the troubles but sigh, my boss is such a nuisance. Otherwise, it would be nice to watch your boss and Mrs. Tang's performance too." Liew Wei said as Jia Yi thought he would be rude not to speak after noticing her effort to try and make amends with him.

"Liew Wei…" He called out which startled Liew Wei for a moment. "Ye… Yes?" She stuttered while immediately putting down her cutleries.

"Thank you… You don't have to try so hard…" He said as her face was full of guilt and embarrassment.

"I owe you an apology. So, here's my apology. I'm sorry for ever trying to harm you. It's against my conscience and inhumane. I'm sorry." She said sincerely as Jia Yi smiled.

"I will always be doubtful of cakes nowadays but I don't mind timely prompts to save wars from happening. So, may we work well together discreetly?" Jia Yi teased as he continued to eat his skewers while Liew Wei smiled at his approval of working together.

Xue Ting saw they both were finally chatting nonchalantly and wanted to do him a favor to take over taking care of Brisbane only to receive a call from Qiu Wen.

She quickly stepped outside and noticed the rain had stopped. It was chilly as she took a seat by the bench under a shed.

"Hello, Wen Wen? Is everything alright?" She finally picked up the call.

"Sweetie, how's everything? You're alright?" Qiu Wen asked over the loudspeaker impatiently while driving.

"I'm good. Brisbane is asleep. Qiu Yeh is serenading the crowd on stage. We had a good barbeque. Have you eaten? How's things there?" She calmly explained to him as she could sense he was anxious.

"I'm on the way back. I should be there in about half an hour or so." He said which made Xue Ting panic a little.

"Wen Wen, you must be so tired. You should have gone home… Just drive home Wen Wen…" Xue Ting began nagging but knew Qiu Wen would not listen as he was still furious with the entire day's event.

"I will be there soon…" He sounded very upset.

"Slow down. At least arrive here safely. I wait for you… With some food." Xue Ting tried to comfort him but it was a deadline after that.

She went back in to find everyone was still enjoying themselves. She was glad the cohesion had turned out a success as she went to save some food and a drink for Qiu Wen before checking on Brisbane.

"I can handle her. I will bring her back to the room to rest." Xue Ting said to Jia Yi but he saw the pack of food and had a feeling Qiu Wen must be on his way. He sat closer to Liew Wei.

"It's alright. We will take care of her tonight. If she wakes and finds you only then, we will send her to your room. You could take good care of the boss." Jia Yi offered as Xue Ting noticed he was eyeing the box of food she saved. She knew he knew Qiu Wen was on his way as she smiled gratefully.

If you stumble upon this tale on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

"Alright then. Thank you, Jia Yi." She thanked him before walking back out to the same shade where she waited for Qiu Wen earlier.

As she sat alone finally enjoying some peace, she began to miss her twins. She sent a text message to the twins asking if they were well and have they had eaten.

Moments later she heard a fast car engine roaring its' way towards her side of the road. She was very worried when she saw it was Qiu Wen's car. When the car abruptly stopped in front of her, Qiu Wen quickly alighted without switching off the engine and rushed to get hold of Xue Ting.

Only then did Xue Ting understand the urgency. He must have endured the anger and pressure the entire time that he was shuddering in her arms. She was worried he would break from being overly anxious.

"Hey… It's fine. I'm here…Calm down. Take deep breaths. Slowly… " Xue Ting comforted as he pulled her in for a tighter hug. His breathing began to calm when he inhaled the familiar scent of Xue Ting from her coaxing him to take deep breaths.

"It will be fine. We are all alright. The event went well. Brisbane and I are fine. So you must be fine too alright Wen Wen?" Xue Ting tried coaxing him as he finally let her go and met her gaze. She smiled caressing his tired face as she kissed him before walking over to his car to switch off the engine.

She then went back to him and led him to sit next to her under the shed. The peaceful night serenaded by the creaks of the crickets made Qiu Wen begin to relax even more as Xue Ting fed him some food.

"I want to leave this good-for-nothing family…" It was the first thing he said with a hint of anger.

Xue Ting knew he was still furious as she put down the box of food and gave him a bottle of tea. She gently patted him back to comfort him.

"Slowly, Wen Wen. I wanted to pull out both the masterminds' hair and if possible throw them into the jungle to watch them fend for themselves 'cause I know they could never survive well like we do." Xue Ting said which made Qiu Wen laugh unexpectedly.

"Finally laughing… Good boy…" She complimented as she chuckled. "What now? I'm mini Brisbane. The boy version?" He retaliated with a little annoyance.

"I didn't say that. You did. So, are you?" She teased while feeding him more food as he laughed.

"She is fine. I suspect it was all just an acting." She nodded at his venting as she continued to feed him while he explained the situation.

"She was all good when we were up there and all of a sudden right before the thunder came, she had to fall and twist her ankle. I don't even know if it was fake if it wasn't cause I realise she pointed to the wrong ankle when she was down here. It was on the left up there then it's right here!" Xue Ting nodded patiently while listening to him complain.

"You… If it wasn't for you, I would never have driven her down the hill with that retard! Good riddance!" He scolded as Xue Ting laughed.

"What are you laughing about?" He asked furiously but Xue Ting knew he was just venting.

"You're a very cute young boy. Are you full now?" She asked as he stole a kiss from her for being so mischievous. Before he could deepen his kiss, a phone call from the twins interrupted them.

"Wooo, babies! How are you two doing?" Xue Ting instantly picked up into a video call as Qiu Wen was fuming at the interruption and grabbed the box of leftover food to finish by himself without being in the video call.

"Mummy! Where's Brisbane and Daddy?" Joy asked as Matthew tilted his head a little and waved to her. Xue Ting was smitten by them both when she noticed her sulking husband.

"Brisbane is asleep. She was all so tired from a day hiking with Jia Yi. As for your daddy… He is sulking at an incident earlier. In fact, he just drove here from town again…" Xue Ting explained as she tried to get him into the frame for the twins to see.

"Daddy! Come, tell me what happened, my beloved daddy…" Joy coaxed as Xue Ting chuckled while Qiu Wen sighed in defeat and unwillingly explained to the twins the entire incident.

"And guess what? When we were close to the hospital, she said to send her home cause the family doctor would be waiting for her! I really feel like throwing her out of the car!" Qiu Wen vented as Xue Ting gently rubbed his back to cool him down.

"That witch sure deserves it! Yeah! You should have just thrown her into the jungle!" Joy supported as Qiu Wen finally laughed again.

"That's exactly what your mother just said!" Qiu Wen informed as everyone laughed together.

Xue Ting was thankful that the twins' call came right on time to comfort her upset husband who finally finished his dinner and his mood improved tremendously. As the twins hung up their call, she quickly brought him to their room for him to shower and rest but instead, he could not resist giving Xue Ting a good time in bed that night.

Seeing everyone was still soundly asleep the next morning, she could not help but wake up to her normal routine at the break of dawn. After tugging Qiu Wen into the blanket, she went wash up and headed into the kitchen before beginning to bake some buns for everyone. By the time everyone gathered at the hall for breakfast, they were surprised to find extra buns.

"Oh, how come there were extra buns? Who brought this?" One of the employees asked another employee.

"Hello, good morning! Did everyone have a good sleep? Come, have some. They are freshly baked from the oven." Xue Ting greeted as she brought out a new batch of buns.

"Mrs. Tang! You made them?" One of the employees asked as she nodded before everyone began to thank her and helped themselves to the sumptuous buns while some went into the kitchen to help her bring out more servings.

"Good morning everyone!" Qiu Wen came in happily while carrying Brisbane in his arms as Jia Yi and Liew Wei were trailing him from behind.

Everyone greeted him in return while some were enquiring him about Francesca's condition. He wanted to head towards Xue Ting but he felt he owed everyone an explanation. One topic after another led to some asking who Brisbane was when he finally clarified it was his friend's daughter staying over with them while they were busy with events.

"When will you have a baby, Mr. Tang?" One of the employees absentmindedly asked as he smiled at the question while watching Brisbane interact with the employees.

"Soon…" He teased as everyone cheered for him.
