Pam and Dan had been working on trying to build a better life since the trial was finally siding with them after the incident during their barbeque. However, Pam still felt a little insecure as Alshton was still out on the loose after bail, awaiting the court charges. She stood by the window hoping for the breeze to ease her worries when Dan walked up to her and wrapped her into a sweater.
"Hey… It's a little chilly. Don't catch a cold." Dan held her for a while as she leaned onto him.
"What are you worrying about?" Dan asked as she sighed and turnaround to meet his gaze.
"Sometimes I think all of this is just a dream. I… I couldn't help but worry that any second any of you would be taken away from me…" Pam confessed just as Dan had expected.
"Sweetie, when you told me you would look after me when I had health issues, I have never doubted us lasting forever. Besides, I appreciate every moment we spent together. If it meant that one of us had to leave in any way, know that I will always love you and you will have my inheritance to carry on with little Brisbane…" Dan assured her but she shook her head.
"What's the point of living without you or Brisbane… Please… Don't ever leave." Pam pleaded with a cracked voice as she held onto him tightly.
"I promise, sweetie… Speaking of which, little Brisbane's birthday is coming up. Shall we throw a celebration?" Dan suggested to distract Pam as she pondered for a moment and nodded.
"I was thinking of the C Netizen cruise which had been actively advertising lately. It's been Brisbane's dream to go on a huge ship before this…" Pam suggested.
"Oh, that's one of Qiu Yeh's business. Alright, I will make arrangements and invite them all on the cruise for the celebration then. However with the news lately, let's hope Ryan and Sicily could join…" Dan concluded as Pam nodded and leaned onto his chest feeling like the luckiest woman in the world.
"They don't seem to be very bothered it seemed," Pam said as Dan nodded.
"We will be like them too. Standing strong through the good and bad times…" Dan comforted as Pam met with his gaze before she kissed him to a passionate night.
The reveal of the marriage contract by Mrs. Tang did not shake Qiu Wen and Xue Ting's relationship. Instead, they were happier than ever especially when Dan informed them about their birthday party plans on Qiu Yeh's cruise for Brisbane.
However, Francesca was getting so impatient to wait for her pregnancy that she decided it was time to fake it. She was so desperate to be accepted into the Tang's family that she clenched the chance to visit Grandma and Mrs. Tang to reveal her fake report to them.
Grandma was furious as there was no way for her to deny that the report was fake coupled with all the inappropriate pictures of an unconscious Qiu Wen taken in bed with Francesca. Grandma knew it was only a matter of time before Xue Ting had to meet with such mishaps as her heart ached for the couple. She could only retreat to her study angrily and called Qiu Yeh.
"Grandma… What is it?" Qiu Yeh picked up the call in front of May who was having a meal with him on another discussion.
"That good-for-nothing Wei gold digger had come and claimed she is pregnant with your brother's child! There are pictures taken too! I don't care how you will handle this but ensure my great-grandchildren are in good hands with Ting Ting too!" Grandma sternly instructed as Qiu Yeh frowned while humming in acknowledgment to Grandma.
You could be reading stolen content. Head to Royal Road for the genuine story.
"Alright, Grandma. I know what to do." Qiu Yeh replied solemnly before hanging up while May raised an eyebrow at him.
"What's wrong?" She questioned while taking a bite of the asparagus.
"The storm is here… I have to get to the rescue. About our plans, could you take the lead instead?" Qiu Yeh asked nonchalantly while taking a bite of his steak.
"You mean head out on the cruise alone?" She asked in return though still a little doubtful with the situation at hand.
"Why not? You are a shareholder yourself too." He said as she raised her eyebrow again in doubt.
"Only if you ensure my best friend is in good hands…" She pointed her fork at him. He smirked knowing she could read the situation well.
"No worries. Besides, soon you will see her on board since Dan's little girl's birthday party is in this month's itinerary." He reminded her as she nodded.
"Deal!" She raised her glass of wine to toast with him as he joined her with glee despite his impending family drama waiting for him to solve.
"What is young master up to these days?" Mrs. Tang asked Lily, her secretary in the living room after sending off Francesca who was very satisfied with her scheme.
"He has been busy with our new product launching and Francesca was of good help."
"Good help?" Mrs. Tang questioned while taking a sip of tea. "Yes, during the recent charity party, she had introduced and secured several deals thereafter in time for annual dinner performance announcements." Lily updated as Mrs. Tang nodded.
"Good. You know what to do. Carry out as planned. During the company's annual dinner, we shall enjoy the show." Mrs. Tang instructed as Lily made her exit.
"Yes, madam." Lily took the half-signed divorce papers and placed them on Qiu Wen's table that afternoon.
When Qiu Wen returned from his meeting to find the brown envelope, he quickly unfolded the content but he had his suspicions too. He attempted to open the letter but he hesitated for a moment before slipping it back.
Is this what I think it is? He shut his eyes for a moment before bravely opening it back.
He took out the papers from the envelope after much distraction. As he read he did not know which came first; fear and anxiety or anger and worries. For the first time after a long while, he let his anxiety catch up with him. He struggled to reach for his medicine on time as he lay on the ground trying to recollect himself, feeling like his world was tumbling down.
Jia Yi barged in to help him with the medication after hearing a loud noise from his office. A part of Qiu Wen was hoping for time to stop still as he was disappointed to see Xue Ting's signature on the papers while a part of him knew she would never have signed it. Something must have happened as he plotted in his mind to get down to the root cause.
"You're alright, Mr. Tang?" Jia Yi finally asked as Qiu Wen nodded when he sat up on his chair again.
"Jia Yi, from now on ensure the children and Madam are properly taken care of. What I did from now on that's out of the norm, play along." He instructed as Jia Yi frowned.
"What do you mean, Mr. Tang?" He clarified.
"We need to fake the divorce and no one should know of this while it's ongoing except for us." Jia Yi was surprised but remained composed as he nodded to Qiu Wen's plans.
The next moment, they were confronted by Mrs. Tang who stepped in with Qiu Yeh from behind.
"So you got the document I see?" Mrs Tang asked before sitting in front of Qiu Wen. Qiu Wen stood gazing at Qiu Yeh who discreetly signaled to him to execute their emergency plan.
"You know I would not sign this…" Qiu Wen hurled the paper at Mrs. Tang.
"Go on… Rebel all you want. I know what you both have out there. If you dare to not oblige, I will ensure not only your assets are frozen but his as well and I will ensure Sicily and her siblings won't live peacefully." Mrs. Tang pointed at Qiu Yeh as she came prepared for this war.
"Besides, Francesca is pregnant with Tang's first grandchild. How could you not be responsible isn't it? Even if I let you off the hook, the Wei family definitely won't sit still." Mrs. Tang laughed hysterically but eventually suddenly stopped.
"Are you going to oblige or not?" Mrs. Tang asked sternly as Qiu Wen who shared a long contemplating gaze with Qiu Yeh knew he had no choice but to fake the entire divorce as planned with Jia Yi earlier.
"Fine. You leave everyone alone. Let me make the announcement when the time comes." Qiu Wen could not believe he had to put his last card on the table.
"Good. Let's get the announcement out during the upcoming annual dinner." Mrs. Tang announced before leaving the room triumphantly.
Qiu Yeh was a little disappointed with his brother as he stood in disgust.
"I don't have a choice…" That was all Qiu Wen could say before Qiu Yeh stormed out of his office with Jia Yi following along.
Only then did it dawn on Qiu Yeh that it might have been all an act as he stopped Jia Yi from walking back to his own office.
"Was Ryan putting up an act?" He asked intimidatingly leaving Jia Yi stuttering for a moment.
"Mr. Tang, I…" Seeing his reaction, Qiu Yeh confirmed his doubts right when Liew Wei came to Jia Yi's rescue.
"Jia Yi, I have a document for you. Could we discuss this for a bit?" Liew Wei asked before Qiu Yeh shared a meaningful gaze with Jia Yi.
"I know what to do. Do your duties well." Qiu Yeh told him before leaving.
"Thank you for saving me…" Jia Yi let go of a heavy sigh of relief as Liew Wei led him to his office.
"What happened? What's going on? I saw Mdm. Tang coming in…" Liew Wei questioned as Jia Yi took the chance to explain the entire situation to her.
"Looks like we need to keep a close eye on Mrs. Tang and her siblings." Liew Wei said as Jia Yi sighed worriedly.
"Don't worry. We will make this sort out." Liew Wei comforted.
"Let's catch lunch first and see what we can do to help." She urged while dragging Jia Yi who was reluctant along.
He had noticed he did not mind her companion ever since the company's trip and after several episodes of her helping out during emergencies. He began to appreciate her companion even more now that they were heading into an impending storm.
