"Are you coming to Zaureen's party tonight Alaska?", Leneva asked after their class on advanced VR economics.
"Tonight will be the perfect time to kill my prey", cryptic answers became easier once she realised everyone was the enemy.
"You're no fun since you became a celebrity", looking worried, "are you ok? Watching out for red flags?"
"Leave me alone Zaureen", adding "I am fine"
"Pushing your friends away is a big red", the woman was relentless.
"I just put social life on a back burner to concentrate on my job", if it was her choice then Zaureen's flags theory was bunked.
"You quit your job" sighing and shrugging her shoulders, "just remember that people care", then added, "we are here for you when you need us"
"Thanks" Alaska needed to go back, "I really am fine"
"Ok" finally giving up, "just signal if you need a save"
"I will", walking away Alaska was already planning her fight with Koreimim.
She needed to catch him distracted, the siege provided many missed opportunities but she wasn't there every time he got smacked by that crafty dragon.
Her plan to take the frost giant down at the moment of his triumph on that insufferable geomancer or whatever the woman was that held the whole mountain army at bay got bashed when she tried to escape and Alaska was offline.
Now an impossible castle sprouted overnight like some crazy thornbush pushed to the limit by a druid to become a mighty tree and Koreimim was constantly surrounded by his guards, the second opportunity slipped her grasp when she was scouting the inner gauntlet and he sent his wolves to destroy the cannons.
Logging off for classes probably made her miss another opportunity but it was inevitable, the slight time difference between the mountain area and her real world time zone was very convenient most of the time and could ruin her if she needed to stay online for any length of time.
Maybe she should quit her studies, it wasn't like studying that stuff will help her in her new line of work, but she already sunk so much effort it would be a shame to quit on her last year.
A private appartment meant she would have to get pretty far from campus grounds at this time of the year so even if she could afford it, staying in the dorms was the smart thing to do, proved again by reaching her cube five minutes after class and getting online in record time of three minutes later.
The warcamp was deserted when she materialised in her tent, only a few sounds from the healing area told her someone was still around.
Talking to the NPC giants was useless, as soon as they learned she wasn't food and left her alone she never bothered with them again, only comunicating with her 'brother' Koreimim if she needed anything or to report on her missions.
Why their master wanted him dead was a mystery she didn't care enough to solve, the crazy beast gave her an infinite amount of meaningless tasks and if she didn't see real improvement after each one she would think he was toying with her.

With his cryptic nonsense like "to master the spear you must learn its language" and "the giants have secrets that could help you gap your flaws", commiting to his mad 'mastery' training regime got her some powerful skills and spells but nothing as strong as just jabbing something with the spear of annihilation.
The exact wording of "go stick your spear in Koreimim and maybe you will learn something" wasn't very encouraging but she was ready to give up and walk off anyway so she decided to try.
The frost giant was insanely powerful, matched only by the emperor and maybe a few of the other lieutenants, if he had any ambitions she was sure he could conquer the free guild alliance in an afternoon until she saw the legacy guilder, Koreimim brought her to the siege when there were only a few walls held by a bunche ofnelementals that served as repair crew and defending force against the waves of giants crushing through the walls only for the same wall to become alive and tear a group of giants apart.
The Player was batshit crazy, they could tell when she was offline if the elementals wouldnt instantly heal or respawn and the combat took on an increasing rhythm of attacks and repairs with her adding more pieces to the defense pattern every day and making it even more difficult to assault, after she repelled the wolves and built the inner keep Koreimim decided to mass the whole army of the mountain, going as far a getting more of the real giants committing forces to the assault and then the crazy dragon struck, almost getting away if the hill giants weren't already massing their army right where he was trying to go then he would surely have made it out of the dungeon area.
Now the woman was offline for hours and instead of victory, things got even worse, indestructible walls you couldn't aim at, cannons, insane mazelike areas where the elementals ambushed their troops invisible on open grounds, frustrated Alaska asked the mountain for help and he sent her to kill his champion.
Looking at the castle made her dizzy walking toward the gate, goliath shieldbearers from the hills grunts didn't scare her anymore, confidence was the key to dealing with these smaller giants, the nightmares from the western steppes were a different matter, meat eating horses that bit the giants riding them on a whim and had sharp almost clawlike hooves that could kill a direwolf with a single aimed kick were to be avoided at all costs.
Following the lines from the different regions and clans it was clear that the southern peak was the most devastated by the skirmmish with only the wolves and two tribes of hoopak throwers remaining to guard the whole region Koreimim was finished and she just here to deliver the final blow.
The flying battresses the main keep were even more impressive in the daylight, now seeing the patterns up close, the large doors wide open and the sounds of battle raging from inside, the other giants stayed away, letting Koreimim reap the rewards or pay the price for this final clash of titans, wizards and dragons.
Tightening her grip on the spear of annihilation Alaska took a deep breath before her final confrontation with the Player that stole her staff on their first meeting.
Steeling her mind before she delivered their master's final message to a disgraced disciple that failed to defend the pass against a single Player again.
Sneaking into the entry hall she was imressed by the carnage, following the trail of body parts and metal clanging she walked up a wide staircase and leaning against a wall before another open door, wolves were melted in the next room, she had no better description to the vision assaulting her every sense and gagging her breath.
The final doors where battle still raged on were made entirely of gold, inside was the strangest battle she ever dreamed of, clad in a blinking futuristic armor painted with dazzle designs that made it hard to look at was a dragon, facing him were a wolf with three legs and Koreimim holding her staff of ultimate magic in one hand and a cannon in the other, a flying pig with tiny wings accompanied by an earth elemental was holding off five goliaths holding cannons like they were clubs, all she had to do was wait for an opportunity and she could complete her mission.
The wolf jumped and clamped its claws on the dragon's neck, Koreimim aimed the cannon, dashing forward, Alaska stabbed Koreimim in the armpit and the dragon's claws threw the wolf against the wall.
