"These elemental magic books", Kyatha stacked the items on the counter, "and we need some utility and ultimate spells", the shopkeeper tried to assess if she could pay for everything she asked for, "I also want some basic skill books like disarm and charge".
Five stacks of books almost as tall as her piled on the desk, it cost her a lot more than she was comfortable to pay but if it made her dragon more versatile than just crushing into their enemy it should be well worth it, she was certain he could cast spells from what she heard of the Kobold ceremonies where he blessed their sick and their eyes started glowing before they were cured.
"Books?" Allen's surprised tone made her think she may have made a mistake, "you brought me books?" she really hoped he wasn't as stupid as he sounded.
The dragon rose on his hind legs, flapped his wings and swung his hands in the air, townsfolk were running away and even Kyatha started to walk away from the display of an enraged child.
"Thank you" it roared, "only Shoul ever gave me books", the burst of emotions moved her, "you are the best pet I ever painted", ruining the moment of mirth for her.
"You need to read them to gain some spells and abilities", she explained, "these books have many spells" pointing at their stack, "so read them slowly as you advance in your control".
His hungry look made her somewhat uncomfortable, "these are skill books", she put her hand on the other pile, "each skill has a basic routine and then explanations how to build on them", seeing his eyes sparkle at the notion encouraged her, "even if you read the whole book you can always train to get even better at using a skill although usually when you master a basic skill you would get better results from a combination or advanced skill", it was the first time she ever saw him so focused, "so when I see that you mastered a skill we will buy the next book".
Allen looked hungrily at the books when she continued "these are Ultimate spells", pointing at two books separated from the others, "they cost like all the others combined", unable to hide her grief at the lost funds, "but they let you change something fundamental in the world around you", picking up the first "this will teach you 'guardian' which on its highest level will summon a celestial to fight at your side", putting it back and taking the other in her hand "and this will give you 'drain' which isn't as powerful as other ultimates at first", seeing his rapt attention "but when you control its higher levels you can drain different pools from player up to draining character lifespan and hidden attributes"
Putting the book back on the other one she pointed at the last stack of books "these are utility spells to practice with when you don't want to blow thing up"
Slowly drawing nearer the dragon took a hard look at all the stacks before they vanished in a shower of sparks, "WHAT DID YOU DO?" Meroa was flabbergasted, how could he treat her so badly?
"I uploaded the books", came the infuriating answer.
"You what?" she couldn't believe her ears.

"I uploaded them to my memory" he repeated and she still couldn't believe it.
"How?" she was almost crying at the loss of all that money for a random fireworks show.
"You just have to think [/Upload
Stomping into the store Kyatha bought another 'basic elemental magic' book, then put it between them and concentrated on creating the code, when it broke into sparks and knowledge of two new spells was added to her memory she gasped in surprise "all of them?" disbelief laced her tone.
"You", she looked Allen in the eye "must", breathing hard "never", extenuating every word, "tell about this", another deep breath "to anyone", and added a punctuation with "never", walking almost to his face "promise me you will never tell about this to anyone", blinking "even your best friend in the world"
Allen drew back at the verbal assault, "why?" unable to understand its meaning.
"Promise me or I am leaving" in the heaviest tone she could muster, "now".
"I promise never to tell anyone how to upload a book", seeing her distress pulled a string in his heart, "but why?".
Explaining everything to this man child was exhausting but she had to do it to save the world "it will shatter everything", gathering her thoughts, "the world as we know it will be gone".
"Lucky I didn't tell you how to array all the books at once", he breathed in relief, enjoying life as they were and not wanting everything to end.
Squinting at him she finally breathed out "don't tell me" and fell silent.
"Too bad I can't afford any more books", sighing in melancholy.
"Why not?" came the infuriating question.
"Because I used all my savings on the war and now took a loan to pay for these books", thinking about it she sighed again.
"A loan from a bank?" his eyes lit at his own words.
"Yes", weirded out by his tone, "from a bank", that idiot knew just how to piss her off.
"For money?", the question followed.
Holding herself from punching him at the stupid inquisitive tone "YES", she almost screamed "for money", doing her best to stay calm "and the interest will kill me in a few months", if only he would shut up already.
"I can give you money", he finally said.
"I don't want to take your allowance and it will never be enough for anything substantial", she could cry at his misguided generosity, "the Disarm skill book probably cost more than your dad gives you in a month".
"I don't have a dad", she almost heard mourning in his voice, "but I have a lot of money".
Remembering the Avatar he paid for she could guess he had quite a lot but she couldn't just take money from a kid without his parent's consent.
"What about the treasure from the ship?" thinking he could get her to agree and her eyes rose to meet his at the notion.
"How much money did you get from it?", the question was forced out of her mouth.
"The first ship had" he started.
"No!" cutting him, "don't say it out loud in the open", looking around, "how about you give me fifteen percent for my part in the second fight and that settles your debt for the books?"
[System: Attention Kyatha, AllenP wants to purchase a
Staring at the number and thinking she didn't read the number correct, "Are you sure this is just fifteen percent?" seeing him nod she approved before he changed his mind.
"You are a good friend AllenP", brushing her eyes, "I hope we never become enemies", thinking about the ship's captain and crew that found themselves stripped of every worldly possession they had in the game, even offline characters weren't immune to his greedy claws, even inanimate objects.
Meroa was at the end of her nerves, she knew it, and needed to deal with it, luckily the perfect cure was already in her backpack in the shape of two free exploration licenses for the 'Goliaths pass' dungeon, more books will wait for later.
