359 Gail Thimble

359 Gail Thimble

Comparing his tiny dagger to a five meter long stone slab was only amusing if it wasn't himself about to be squashed by a building sized living weapon, the slow effect was even more exaggarated with the giant proportions and for a second Jeremy just watched open mouthed at the avalanche toppling over him.

"Misty step" to one of the branches protruding into the dueling area he watched as it stamped its imprint on the earth, rising up and smashing again and again like an enraged blind behemoth it rolled on the ground flattening everything around it and realising it was actually blind Jeremy held his breath before casting another spell and giving up his postion.

Smashing for the fourth time into thr ground broke away half of its length and a hawk dive splintered off another piece along its 'spine', but Jeremy noticed something else, the sword was only taking a single action each time, no more elaborate positioning or grand gestures, just simple rise and fall motions.

Silently climbing down the tree and waiting for his moment dashing into range of the halved club, "snare, thunderous retreat", sending him back up the branches to look at the club smash his previous location and triggering the trap immediately being hoisted into the air and hung with the stone part pointing to the ground.

Using "stone shape" to move the rock around the sword so it was completely buried from all sides and then giving it a perfect oval shape Jeremy then dropped to the ground and breathed hard after the most difficult duel of his entire life.

The round rock landed beside him in a thump and a third of it sunk into the hard ground, Jeremy looked at it quivering every few seconds, "message 'if you surrender I will get you out'" hoping the spell got through the rock.

Another quiver and cracks appeared on the rock's surface, jumping back to a fighting stance he quicly cast "haste, blade ward" before the rock shatterd to tiny pieces, some piercing his magical defenses and pulling his hitpoints dangerously low.

The sword seemed lackluster, its blade rested on the ground feinting a slash and ending with a flare and stab that Jeremy evaded with ease by jumping away without using an action, "slow, bane" not wanting to underestimate this powerful enemy, true strike" allways saving one spell for aan emergency.

Moving sluggishly through the air the blade stabbed at him with such force he had to use 'evade' or be skewered "witch bolt" enveloped the blade with blue cackling energy and it dropped halfway to the ground before swnding the spell back at Jeremy.

Using his action to reignite the spell Jeremy saw the sword dip again toward the ground and held his breath for the coming pain, when nothing happened he used his second action, "bane, firebolt".

Groaning in pain and opening his eyes Jeremy looked at the face of the blue creature that was casting a healing spell on him, "what happened?" Choking on the words.

"You lost" the watery voice answerd.

"How?" Demanding to know in a strained voice.

"You underestimated your enemy and he used your weakness to unbalance you", it seemed no answers were coming from that being, "your master said he needed rest and left me in charge of healing you" its words streaming without end, "you are ordered to practice casting spells without their verbal component", coursing through the vowls and consonants with no regard to shape or form.

"How am I supposed to do that?" Confused and hurt all over his virtual body from hitpoints drain.

"Visualise the words without speaking them" the words flowing into a meaningless sentence.

"That never works" thinking maybe he misunderstood the words.

"Impossible is just a barrier we take on ourselves to accomodate social constructs" infuriating words from an insufferable crearure.

"Reality is what it is", anger was waking him up, "you cant just will it to change", adding "I can't just become rich because I want to"

"Are you poor?" The words made Jeremy look at his gold balance.

"Not at the moment" was a stupid answer to a stupid rethorical question.

"Then your will has changed your reality", each word pooling to serene silence.
