Chapter twenty five

Chapter twenty five

Katherine Pov

For the last fours months she has had a consistent routine, she wakes up eats her nuts and berries and sometimes the occasional roasted meat. She washes up and fights monsters until she almost can't stand any more. Then she gathers berries and nuts from the trees and then she trudged back to the cabin to eat, wash herself up and pass out so she can do it all over again in the morning.

She has finally hit level fifteen after not leveling up for so many years, she knows these are still the easy levels though. Once she hits twenty she will need to work even harder. The skills will still be easy to acquire just hard to level up, but she's ready. She plans to learn as many new skills as she can. The best way to get skills is through repetition of action. At some point it just clicks and it becomes easier to do thanks to the guidance of the system.

So far she has acquired the low survival skill and hopes to level it up to a med level skill. During the last couple of days she has felt that her level has reached the ceiling for this floor and if she wishes to continue leveling up she has to move deeper into the dungeon and explore the second floor. While she is uncertain about going down to the second floor she knows it's necessary to take risks after fighting and destroying the wolf pack.

She's very thankful for her battle dress and her scepter, they have changed they way she fights. She makes sure everything is in her storage ring and starts the walk to the stairs, all the monsters on this floor ignore her. When she reaches the table covered in figurines she grins and as opens her status panel to look at her inventory list, she has them all and it fills her with a strange sense of pride.

She pulls out the old simple dress from her ring and drops it in the bowl at the center of the table. It's not much but it's all she has that wasn't gifted to her by the dungeon. She turns toward the spiral staircase and her heart starts beating excitedly, she was looking forward to the next floor.

As soon as she stepped on the stairs the scents in the air started changing, the smell of snow and trees was fading into a sweet smelling air. She was quite surprised by the smell but she was even more astonished when she reached the bottom step and stepped into a sunny giant flower meadow, it was breathtaking. Almost the complete opposite of the first floor. For a moment she forgot she was supposed to be on guard.

She could see the cabin in the distance. She judged it would only take her twenty or so minutes to get there. She was still taking it all in when she started noticing the quantity of monsters here was almost triple compared to the first floor and there were more herd animals here too.

It would be harder to fight one on one here but she could handle it. As she walked through the flowers she used identify and picked up edible herbs, veggies and edible flowers she sees for tea. They weren't valuable just stuff to help stop bleeding, help with digestion or cook with. She loved having a storage ring, she never had to stress about having food.

She saw the lioness and couldn't wait to fight her until she saw them fighting. They have a wind slash attack that can easily take down one of the zebras with a swing of their mighty paw. The zebras have an air skill to help them get away but it doesn't always help apparently. She has learned, thank you poor zebra for your sacrifice. She saw some other small prey creatures but didn't get the chance to identify them before they snuck back down their hole.

The hyenas were a bit frightening if she was being honest with herself. She didn't like the strange shrieking squeals they made. The little tan foxes were almost exactly the same as the ones on the first floor but they only used wind magic. Most of the monsters used wind magic of this floor, she assumed those tiny monsters in the tunnels had an earth affinity type magic. After hearing the ding that she has entered the safe zone she turns around and keeps watching the monsters on this floor.

This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.

After spending so long in the cold she had grown used to it but now that she was surrounded by flowers she felt much happier. She had grown up in the forest and had never seen a place like this. There weren't enough trees to call it a wooded area, it was mostly clusters of bushes with blueberries and strawberries surrounded by tons of flowers.

She plucked some berries that grew in the safe zone and was surprised when she saw a big fat bee flying around the area. She quickly identified it and didn't even know what to think anymore.

[Spring bee. This is a happy species of bees. They get to collect nectar and pollen from beautiful flowers all year round and don't even know what cold is. As long as you let them collect, they will leave you bee. Even if they sting you, they will only die.]

This has to be the weirdest dungeon ever. What the hell are Spring bees!? Always happy bees? She decides to ignore the bees and continue munching on berries while she watches the monsters as they live, when the sun started setting she was a little surprised. Why didn't the first floor have a day and night cycle? She stayed outside and watched the sun go down and the sounds began to change.

She really liked this dungeon, she had nothing to compare it to but the stories her parents would tell her when they came home after long trips in the dungeon until one day they never came home again. She jolted herself back to reality and stared at the stars in the sky. She really hadn't thought about that stuff in years, no time to get all sad face about it now. She picked herself up off the ground and walked into the familiar yet strange cabin where she followed her usual routine and went to bed, excited to wake up in the morning and hunt monsters.

I was a little surprised when the fox girl decided to descend to the second floor but oh boy was I glad when she did. Once she stepped on those stairs I received a notification and to be honest I would have stumbled if I was walking and looking at my phone when I read it.

[Congratulations! Due to the effect of Open-minded people gain the most you have earned six thousand five hundred dungeon points for your delver spending one hundred and thirty days on your first floor.]

Holy shit that's a lot of dp! I didn't think it was gonna be that much! I can make her a mansion on my latest floor every time and she can just live there patiently until I finish my next floor. Ahh. Perfect symbiosis. What a dream that would be.

I immediately want to start going crazy buying monsters off the lists I didn't choose but then I remember how expensive it was when I wanted to buy the spacial affinity, I wonder if there are any other cool stuff like that I could buy now that I have more dp than I know what to do with. I ask the system what other elemental affinities I can purchase and how they would help me.

There are so many it's actually a little surprising. I could purchase the forest affinity and it would actually give a boost to my second floor, mostly my insects and fourth floor. Just by having the forest affinity all these critters that have a nature type affinity sees a decrease in cost in their mana usage. I can purchase the water affinity and all my water monsters on the third floor will get a big strength boost. It might actually break the stalemate between the crocs and the bears though so I won't choose that one for now.

I choose the wind affinity because it's the smartest choice it helps all my speed type creatures with a boost. Ok there's two thousand dp gone but I feel I've made a wise choice, I also choose the time affinity because it can help speed up or slow down time on any floor I choose. That will help so much with my population building. It costs me three thousand dp but I have no regrets.

Now on to the dress she put in my donation bowl, it was a simple cloth dress. On the other hand I now had patterns for both men and women's clothing. So that is an upside. I can always make it out of my metal silk from my spiders in the mine. That would probably be amazing.

I'm not going to focus on that for now. I forgot after she dropped in. I made a quick pot shaped like a wok with spatula with six large bowls and six sporks and drop it in the cabins and tents on all the floors so there's something to cook with. I can't stand to see this poor girl eat charred meat with nuts and berries all the time. I hope she makes something tasty when she sees it. Ok time to get back to work now.

It's time to pull up my list of birds and see what I can summon and keep this show on the road. There's a lot of birds on this floor too. I'm really surprised at how much life there is in the desert. There is then Cactus wren, Gila woodpecker, Gambel, Quail, Greater roadrunner, Roadrunner, Golden eagle, Elf owl, Burrowing owl and Ostrich. I go ahead and summon twenty pairs of all of them and set them loose on the insects. It's actually a little comical to see the ostriches among all those tiny birds and insects.
