Chapter thirty seven

Katherine Pov

It wasn't long before they knew the ins and outs of the third floor. They found the trees shaped like lounging chairs with the fishing poles, They had taken it upon themselves to learn how to use them. They didn't have much luck until they figured out to use some bait.

It was Leto's idea to go back to the second floor for some bugs. They found that grasshoppers worked the best after testing with them and beetles. So they made sure to catch some every morning before they went fishing. It didn't take long before the grasshoppers they released on to the third floor almost every day took hold.

They didn't like going back and forth between the two floors. They hoped the dungeon wouldn't mind. After eating meat for so long it was nice to mix it up with fish. The children weren't quite as happy as she was but she didn't care.

If they stayed with her they would eat what she ate. In the mornings the boys took care of themselves but they always came to her for dinner. She didn't mind them in her cabin so much anymore. The boys were always respectful and she didn't think they would have any malicious intent towards her.

After a month of careful living they came across another croc but it was much easier for Leto and her to kill this time around. She expected meat but what dropped was a jagged sword that used what look to be bones for the grip.

She brought it back for the oldest girl to try out but she didn't like it. She didn't think physical combat would be where she shined. She was beginning to wonder if the girl would end up being a mage, but nothing was set in stone until the system activated. So she just left her be. It wouldn't be long before her system activated anyway.

I have missed watching Kat explore my dungeon. She has gotten pretty good at teaching the kids too. They took down the croc with only a few hiccups. I was a little confused when they took the sword back to the cabin for one of the girls to try out. After seeing her test it out I could tell by her face she didn't like it.

I'm gonna go ahead and guess she doesn't like daggers either. Hmm. I wonder what she wants to use. I could make a staff for her but I don't think she would like that anymore than she did the sword. Oh yeah! I forgot I got that wand from my first visitors.

It was made from some sort of special wood, but after asking the system I can make it out of the gold and silver mix that I use for almost everything. It doesn't take but a moment to make four of them. They are simple but beautiful. I let myself think of all those hours I spent watching Harry Potter to gain some inspiration.

I don't know how many of the kids will end up being capable of using magic. Hmmm. Do I give them to Kat now or wait until the girl joins the group? I should probably give them to her now right? I'll wait until they fall sleep before I drop them on the table of the cabin.

They spent the rest of the day fighting fishing cats and foxes. I hope they move on to turtles soon so they can have a shield of some sort. On the other hand turtle meat is one of the few meats I didn't get to try before I died so I'm a little envious.

I dropped the wands on the table and go back to summoning monsters for my ninth floor. I realize that all I have left to summon are the sharks and whales. Even though I'm pretty big for a nine floor deep dungeon core it still takes time to gather mana to summon monsters that big.

So I really can't summon much right now. What a bummer. With all this dp I should probably see what I can buy. My first thought is to check for skills but I still can't find a tab for those.

If you discover this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation.

Well I guess it's time to use some of this dp to kill time. I'll buy all the monsters that I had previously ignored. Let's see, on the second floor grasslands I only have puma and giraffe left. Two hundred dp a piece. Still basic loot drops on the second floor, fur and meat.

On the third floor mangrove oddly enough, it's mostly birds. The limpkin, yellow crowned night heron, peregrine falcon and barred owl. Also only two hundred dp each. They all drop meat and bones. Weird. But I guess bones are great for soups and stews. Also the manatees, they cost two hundred dp and drop what looks like a set of lungs?

The system says it's to help with underwater breathing. That's so cool. On to my fourth floor forest, chipmunk, mouse and oddly enough there's a badger on the list. I purchase them all.

The chipmunk and mouse are cheap at only one hundred dp each, they drop silver coins but the badger was three hundred dp, it drops what looks like a duck call but it makes a badger roar to scare smaller animals away.

It's starting to get more expensive to purchase monsters, I almost feel five hundred dp per floor isn't very much anymore but who's crazy enough to ask a Goddess for a raise?! Ok I'm almost done, on to my eighth floor desert. I still have quite a few to purchase. The coyote, it drops a pelt or a knuckleduster. Weird.

The desert horned lizard it drops a vial of blood. Gross. The desert spiny lizard drop scales that absorb heat or cold. That's neat. The mule deer drops meat or a headband with mule ears that help you hear better. It looks hilarious. I can't wait to see someone wear it. Lastly the dromedary camel drops a jug of water instead of a skin bag. Interesting. The two lizards are only one hundred and fifty dp each but the others were three hundred dp each.

Even after spending all that I still has a ton of dp to spend. I guess I just have to keep waiting for my mana to fill back up so I can summon all these monsters. I'm a little tempted to check out the whole make your own monster thing but that could have disastrous consequences...

For whatever I create of course. I wonder if I should start small and wait and see what happens before I create more. What to create? What to create? Hmmm. I wonder if I could mix a water slime and a coral together... That sounds so devious honestly.

As a coral slime would it be able to move? Dissolve the corals and fish around it? I am really curious. Ok let's see. Ok this is pretty cool. It's reminiscent of one of those cheap cellphone games. I grab two monsters, place one in each box and let the magic happen. I guess the magic is really the Goddess or the system doing all the work for me huh?

But still I'd rather have this gacha type monster than to pick and choose what to use to make a new monster. Ok now that I've selected two monsters it tells me the price. Holy crap. It's two thousand dp to do this! The system must have invented price gouging.

I click accept and what pops up is really adorable, and in it's own way also disgusting. I wish I could poke it. It reminds me of those jelly worms that you find in the ocean but it's rooted into the ocean floor. Well I guess it stretches? It's truly weird.

I almost hesitate to try it again but I'll go ahead and save the pattern for it. I summon one so I can I decide if I like it or not. I don't even want to know the name of it. It's probably something equally weird like jelly coral or worm coral or worse yet a slimecor. Bleh.

I know I said I wouldn't do it again but I kind of want to. Ah the temptations never stop around here. I don't know what two monsters to choose next. I want to make my goblins stronger. They are losing to the lion pride. It's pathetic man. They should totally be a first floor monster, system.

I don't get a response but I didn't really expect one either. Ok fine how about I make a goblin werewolf type monster. That sounds like it has potential. Ok let's try it. I open the little game and put the goblins in one box and I choose the sand wolves that I created and I check out the price. Holy mother of God! It's three thousand dp to mix these two.

Hmm. Is it because the wolf is already a mix breed so its a tier two or something like that? Meh! I have dp to spare. I click accept and watch as my new monster comes in to being. Well that's different. It's pretty much a wolf but it stands on two legs and has fingers.

I guess the wolf only took what could make it better rather than the goblin becoming better. I kind of really like it but I don't know what their intelligence level is either. I doubt I just created sapient wolves. I really wish the system would tell me about my creations at the very least. I save the pattern and go ahead and spawn a male and female on the eighth floor desert to see what happens.

It's been quite some time since I got distracted making my own monsters, my mana is mostly full so it's time to summon some monsters. I think it's more important to reinforce the floors in use rather than one still being built so I'm going to summon the monsters I bought with dp first.
