Lilith Pov
I drag a kobold to the first box before hesitating about what to mix it with. A fox with scales sounds weird but I guess I can try it out. I can always delete it if I don't like it. I add the fennec fox to the other box. The price is two thousand dp. The standard. I click accept and wait to see what happens. Well i'll be. It's actually really cute! I like it! It's covered in fur and had cute ears and a furry tail.
I'm not disappointed. I save the pattern and summon ten pairs to the eighth floor. I hope they don't fight with the werewolf goblins too much. I decide to go back to experimenting. I drag another kobold to the first box and then I begin to wonder if I can select an affinity that I've purchased. I start cackling madly when it lets me choose the fire affinity and put it in the second box. The price comes to three thousand dp.
That's not a bad price. I check it with the earth, water, wind, fire and ice affinity and it stays the same price. When I try to add the space, time or illusion affinity the system tells me that my level is too low to do this action. Sad face. After some debate I choose the water affinity and click accept. I save the pattern and summon a pair to the sixth floor to see how it goes.
Ok! Phew! Enough slacking off. I feel it's been long enough so I summon a pair of orcas. I don't want them destroy my ecosystem. The only predators they have are my delvers and I don't think anyone is going to make it down here for a couple of years. Maybe the mermaids if they band together or maybe my new two tailed foxes might be able to take care of them if I need the population maintained once in a while. They are pretty badass.
Floating around my little cave den is so much fun. I know I have my altar but come on at this point I don't see the need for the protective cage. No one but my patron Goddess has ever actually seen me. Plus I can play with my foxes this way too! After a lot of playing I feel it's time to move on to the next floor.
Since the construction of the mansion I've never bothered to check it out. I still don't see a point to checking it out so I go straight to the basement door and float down the stairs where I start to dig my tunnel instead of stairs to the tenth floor. Gotta conserve as much mountain space as I can.
I feel like I'm reaching a milestone. I'm finally ten floors deep. Well almost. I hear the ding and start by digging out a small room and then I wait for my mana to refill so I can expand it. Man life is great with affinities.
I choose to kill time by checking on my water kobolds while I wait for my mana to refill just a bit more. When I focus on the kobolds I'm pleased to see that the water kobolds have been accepted to the group and are being treated as the new leaders.
While most of the kobolds can used either the earth or water affinity they aren't capable of doing much with it. Just a rock bullet or water ball. Luckily they have a group attack that deals huge damage to make up for the difference.
Where as my new water kobolds can make a water shield big enough to span the width of the tunnel. It was quite impressive. They also use the sewer water to create waves to wash away opponents and to drown prey. I'm very happy with my creations. I decide to make some kobolds with the fire affinity. It's still the same price three thousand dp.
I save the pattern and summon a pair and send them off to join the group. I hope they are just as well received as the water kobolds were. Ok no more messing around I'm going to make another new monster.
I scroll through my list of monsters and I see the desert hedgehog and I feel inspired. I put it in the first box and then I search through the list until I find what I'm searching for aha! There it is the black bear. I'm hopeful something terrifying comes to be. I look at the price and it's only two thousand dp so it's cheap. I click accept and wait to see the results.
The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
Well... It's not cute, it's pretty scary actually. It's about the same size as the black bear was but now it's covered in sharp quills like a hedgehog but thicker. I imagine it could roll up into a ball and launch quills everywhere if it had to. I save the pattern and pause to decide where to add my little abomination. Muahaha.
I summon a pair to the eighth floor desert, now I just have to wait and see. I think I have enough mana to expand my tenth floor now so I decide it's time to get to work. I expand my tenth floor to ten miles in length and width. It's only two miles bigger than the last floor but my delvers are going to hate it.
After my mini ocean I'm going to choose the volcanic ecosystem. I'm excited to see what my monster types are. I pull up my notifications so I can see how much dp I get for reaching this milestone.
[Congratulations on finishing your ninth floor. Two thousand five hundred dungeon points as a reward. Please choose the ecosystem for your next floor and also your next starter monster. Monsters will be based off ecosystem.]
[Grassland, wetlands, desert, forest, coral reef, tundra, terrestrial, savanna, rainforest, freshwater, lake, taiga boreal, mangrove, swamp, volcanic, mountain]
I choose the volcanic ecosystem and watch as my floor starts changing, it's a pretty violent experience actually. The floor started to split apart and in the far distance I could see where the earth was beginning to elevate to form my volcano.
It looked like a huge volcano in my eyes but I had nothing to compare it to so I wasn't sure. I never thought I would get the chance to be front and center for the violent explosion of a volcano, but it sure seems like i'm about to be for this one. The volcano starts by spewing out smoke and ash and I think I can hear the magma boiling inside the cauldron.
This is a crazy experience. I'm so grateful I can't feel hot or cold or smell for that matter. The lava begins to dribble down the side of the volcano before too long and doesn't stop for a long time. Lava covers the vast expanse of the tenth floor before it begins to harden.
I begin to lose interest in this slow tedious process so I use my handy dandy time affinity to fast forward until I begin seeing a change in my floor. Trees and grass start to bloom so I stop fast forwarding time so nature can take it's own course. If I remember correctly volcanic soil is great for planting all sorts of stuff.
I pull up my notifications so I can look over my monster lists and see which one tickles my fancy. I'm excited to see what my monster options are.
[Congratulations! You have achieved a milestone! This is a joyous occasion. For reaching the tenth floor you may choose one low level skill or wait until the next milestone and recieve a med level skill.]
[Bonus! For reaching the tenth floor you now have access to secret rooms. You may install a portal to a different location in your dungeon with an additional challenge, within reason, and a reward.]
Well that's new. I get rewarded for not being destroyed? Wait no. I get rewarded for reaching such a deep level. I look over at my system panel and see that i've been a dungeon for barely fifteen years now.
It's been five years give or take some time since I made the deal with my patron Goddess and it's been extremely lively around here since.
I decide to hold off on picking a low level skill, it's not worth much to me. I would rather have an over powered skill like all those people with gold fingers. The secret rooms sound fun but i'm not ready to start on those yet. I go to the other notification and click on it.
[Congratulations on choosing your tenth ecosystem. This ecosystem is incompatible with your current location, to make up for the shortcoming of monsters please choose one of the two groups below. Hint. If you spend dungeon points you may buy monsters you did not chose now at any time in the future.]
[Choice one. Lesser flamingo, Volcanic frog, Volcanic giant tube worm, land iguana, Vampire finch, Rabbit, Bobcat, Mouse, Grizzly bear. All choices have some form of mana.]
[Choice two. Lava beetle, Firefly, Lava spirit, Volcanic mermaid, Lava fox, Lava bear, Lava eagle, Lava wolf, Giant lava spider, Lava drake(youth). All choices have lava mana affinity.]
Well. That's different. One option is clearly my normal type of monster choice but the other is completely different from my normal choice. Clearly I have to choose option two. It's a whole floor of arsonists. Muahaha I am going to turn up the heat from this floor on. I cough in an effort to stop laughing at my own terrible joke.
To satisfy my curiosity I asked the system about the lava drake. Why does it indicate youth? Well that would be because it's growth has been frozen to that age. It's fresh out of the hatchling stage but still packs quite the punch. It can't fly because it has no wings but that's ok. Technically it's still a dragon.
I don't have much mana left after expanding my floor and then fast forwarding through all that time. So I guess i'll go check on Kat and the kids. It's not my day, it's actually night time and everyone is sleeping. Well? Now what? I guess I can take a moment to think about those two bedtime stories the Goddess told me.
