Chapter eleven

I am very pleased with all the vegetation I'm seeing around my forest. So far I've found huckleberries, cloud berries, elder berries and mulberries which were a childhood favorite of mine.

Fun fact, it isn't a bush at all, it's a tree. And also some other berries I couldn't recognize. I also found wild garlic and onions and wild carrots, mushrooms, dandelions, acorns and pine nuts and other things that I don't recognize. Lots of stuff to forage for even though it's permanently autumn.

I started doing the whole four seasons on a whim but I think I did a great job pulling it all together. I have some ideas for my next floors but I didnt think they would come together as well as the first four floors had. But I was always up for a good challenge.

Before I could forget I decided to make three different bridges for everyone to be able to cross the river. They were simple, just an enclosed box with two open ends. I didn't want to see anyone knocked off the bridge into that fast river. I wasn't sure where it led to yet. It's magical though so I hope it's just an infinite loop snaking through the forest.

I decided to summon twenty wolf spiders to my third floor and let them loose in the trees. I'm pretty sure they eat frogs right? Meh. I'm not too worried about it. That floor needs a spider type.

I refuse to spawn mosquitoes. Then I turn my focus back to my fourth floor and start making the figurines for my alter and my loot drops. I hadn't decided on any of my loot drops yet, and I still don't know any form of curency.

I guess I can just start giving them lumps of silver and gold, small lumps that is and maybe even some of the smaller gem stones I don't want to work with, but I don't know if I wanted to start with such good items so soon. It's settled. I'll give them decent size lumps of copper starting on the fourth floor.

I made all my figurines and settled them on to my alter and decided it was time to check on my insects.

Checking on my beetles and spiders, their numbers have exploded to the hundreds and I was really happy with their speed because this forest is huge and it's going to take a long time before they cover it entirely.

I summon thirty more of each and check on the preying mantis and find they are quite the opportunistic bunch and eat anything that gets too close to them. The lady bugs are just everywhere and it surprises me a little because I figured they would have all been eaten by now.

I'm sure the bird population will help regulate them. The bees are doing great and act like normal bees on this floor and last but not least my carpenter ants, they have taken over a few of the trees that had fallen or they had made fall? I'm not quite sure at this point and their numbers were well passed ten thousand and I hoped I had some predators to keep these monsters from destroying my forest.

I decided to pull up my list of birds and I sighed in relief when I saw the woodpecker was first on my list, I summoned twenty pairs of them. That should be enough to keep the ants in check and then I looked over the rest of my list. It was short and sweet, Woodpeckers, Bluebirds, Cardinals and Hummingbirds.

I summoned twenty hummingbirds to my second floor because I thought they would do better there and then I summoned thirty pairs of bluebirds and cardinals and tried to take a break but I still had some mana left so I decided to check out what else I could summon.

The author's narrative has been misappropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon.

I decided to summon twenty greater prairie chickens because I felt they would make a great addition to the floor I also summoned ten pairs of white tailed deer so they could get started on building a herd before I let loose the predators. Then I summon twenty grey rabbits and twenty grey squirrels. I was very happy with my forest. It was very calming, different from my other floors.

I wasn't quite sure how to explain it so I just stayed in the moment while I waited for my monster populations to grow. After enjoying the moment for almost a whole month I decided it was time to check on my other floors that I had been neglecting. Nothing unusual had happened just the normal solitary animal but I just couldn't pull myself away long enough to check on my mix breeds.

I decided to start with my first floor and work my way down and check out all of my floors. My first floor is doing great. My foxes have blended well and almost all of the foxes are a perfect mix of ice and wind and it's like they have always had both. I just love them.

The same goes for my wolves, the new wolves have fully adapted and the wolf that was pregnant had a bunch of puppies and the bloodlines are still mixing but from the results I'm seeing they would be perfect for a desert when I get one but for now they can stay here and play with their sand bullets.

Moving to the second floor I made sure the hummingbirds were doing well and I was happy to see they were thriving like I thought they would. I could see that I wasn't going to have honey badger babies any time soon so I decided to summon six more and let the chaos just happen.

I don't know why I even want to control it. I'm a dungeon. I hope the bees and birds are ready. Muahaha. Everything else looks great and I don't feel the need to do anything. So I check on my third floor.

It doesn't feel like it's been that long since I've been here but if I'm being honest I think it's been almost a year if not longer since I've checked on my floors. I have been pretty devoted to my fourth floor. I came to the conclusion that even if I'm not discovered by someone I can still make the best dungeon ever and wait patiently.

After all, the deeper I am the harder it is to kill me so to speak. My third floor is bursting with life and I'm just over joyed, I can't wait for my fourth floor to feel like this. I don't know if anyone else would be able to tell but there is a difference in life essence from the second to the third floor. Maybe they have more vitality. I make sure nothing is out of order after enjoying the feeling of being at the beach and head back down to my fourth floor.

I decided to zoom out so to speak and look at my forest as a whole and found it was full of small life on both sides of the bridges and I felt secure in my decision to start adding some more monsters to my floor.

I summon thirty raccoons and thirty foxes, ten of each type from my previous floors, swift, grey, and snow and then I finally summoned twenty of my new red foxes. I was so enchanted with my foxes. I hoped to gather all of the foxes of different elements in the future.

I'm sure the system would make it happen for me eventually. I was looking forward to the day I could mix all of the different types into one and have a progenitor of elemental foxes. I don't know if it's a real possibility but it sounds so OP. But that's still in the future. I watch as the foxes gather and chitter at each other, I find it fascinating.

I'm more convinced than ever that they can understand each other and have a higher intelligence than the average animal. Are the other animals the same but I only noticed it for the foxes because I'm so obsessed with their cuteness?

Looking back the wolves were pretty smart when I introduced the second floor ones to the first floor. So maybe all my monsters have a higher than average intelligence. I've never tried to take over one of my monsters like they do in the novels but I wonder if that would give me more information. Later. I'm still pondering some other ideas.

I've noticed every time I descend to a lower floor I become more feeling, I gain something. I feel more whole or complete, I'm not sure how to describe it. I'm pretty sure it's my soul that grows, it's the only thing I brought with me after all.

I chuckle to myself at my own lame joke and continue pondering, I want to speed up this progress but I'm not sure how to. I feel like maybe I could make an enchantment to empower my soul but I'm not even sure where to start. What is a soul made of? I'm guessing it must be simple and complicated at the same time. I felt like mana alone isn't enough but that's where the enchantment comes in, it gives it directions and that's the part I need to figure out.
