Dungeon life is slow and boring, I spend most of my time waiting for my mana to refill and watching my monsters just so I can summon more monsters and make more enchanted jewelry.
The gems I found while making my third floor are wonderful for storing mana for my enchantments so I made a few more of the same pieces I did before but with gem stones attached, that I want to hide around my deeper floors when they came to be.
I think most of this jewelry is too good for these weak floors but I won't be stingy, I'll put an original ring of health on one of the mangrove roots in the deepest part of the third floor. Someone will probably find it.
I took the time to figure out a simple fishing rod with the wood from my mangroves with a thin string made out of gold and silver mix with a simple hook attached, it wouldn't let them catch anything huge but I would work on making something sturdier.
I decided to not make any benches and actually formed my mangroves into them so it looked more natural. I made five mangrove benches in total. Big enough for two people to share a bench and far enough away that you couldn't tell anyone else was around. I'm sure people would appreciate the fishing spots and fishing rods.
I summoned six pairs of white Ibis and six pairs of great Heron and four pairs of Osprey and four pairs of Great horned owls. I made sure to hollow out various trees for them in advance. So many birds on my floor but it's no where near full yet. I still have some mana left so I summoned two skunks and two minks and when I get more mana I'll summon more.
And now that I don't have much mana left I sit back and look at my floor as a whole. It's huge, if I could fit a whole football field and then some on the first floor then I could fit at least seven football fields on my third floor with room to spare. I would judge it to be a little over a half a mile deep and wide. It was shallow at the beginning but at the deepest end it was probably at least eight or nine feet deep.
I doubt it would take a full day to traverse my whole floor, but it does make me want to pull out a kayak and relax with a pole and a drink so I don't think people will mind spending the day here.
My mana definitely refills faster now that I'm down on the third floor so it didn't take long before I could summon two more pairs of skunks and minks. After consulting my list of to be summoned monsters I decide to summon six pairs of fishing cats and ten pairs of marsh rabbits. I'm sure they would reproduce pretty fast.
And then I summon six pairs of grey foxes and make sure to lead them to one of the dryer areas of the mangrove forest. I wanted to wait before I summon some of my snake options and the tree frogs and I wasn't sure I wanted to summon a crocodile at all. It sounded more dangerous than I wanted my floor to be. I would only summon one if I had hostile invader that wanted to destroy me.
So I summoned three pairs of dolphins and I was excited to see where they would end up, probably close to my island though, that is the deepest part of the floor after all.
I took some time to fiddle with my fishing poles and tried a few different ideas I had for something sturdier, I tried to hollow out a couple of tree branches and fill it with a bit of iron so it could withstand the weight of the grouper when they grow into giants, but I didn't believe it would work long term so I scrapped it and made the pole entirely of gold and silver mix and then I made a fine fishing line and hook so they wouldn't have to worry about breaking the pole or line while pulling in your catch. It took me longer to work out the gears for a reel but once I did I got rid of the simple fishing poles I had started with made made them all heavy duty ones so you wouldn't have the bad luck of catching something huge and snapping it.

Happy with my work I decided it was time to summon the last group of my monsters for this floor, then I just need to make sure everything is stable before I moved on to my next floor.
I look over my last choices and see that I only have tree frogs and snakes to summon and wondered how long it had taken me to get this far. I hadn't paid much attention to my first floor since the polar bear had wandered in and now that I was checking it was pitch dark outside again and I had missed all of the sunny season.
I was a little surprised and disappointed I hadn't been discovered yet but I'm sure it would happen eventually. I can't possibly be all alone in this corner of the planet. Can I? It was too depressing to consider so I brought my attention back down to my third floor to focus on summoning my monsters.
First I summoned eight pairs of green tree frogs and watched with amazement as they blended right into the mangrove trees, followed by four pairs of fanged water snakes, four pairs of green tree snakes and four pairs of indigo snakes that looked like ripples in the water.
I was happy none of them were huge snakes so they wouldn't turn out to be man eaters. I was actually rather fond of snakes, my grandparents had two Burmese pythons when I was growing up and I loved to watch my grandpa feed them rats because I knew after they had been fed they would let me touch them and it just tickled my heart so much every time.
I had finally summoned all of the monsters for this floor but it still needed some time for the population to stabilize like my other floors, but the dark season was here again so I didn't feel any pressure. I barely got any visitors during the last dark season or during this past sunny season actually, I still don't count the voles and hares.
My pitiful amount of eight hundred dp didn't seem like a lot considering most of it came from completely my floors but I finally decided I wanted to buy something from the other list of monsters. It turns out it isn't cheap to buy monster with dp, it cost me seventy five dp to get the otters that I wanted but I felt it was worth it. They are so cute! I summoned six pairs and settled down to relax and take in the scenery of my mangrove forest. It was frustrating I couldn't enjoy the water or the sand but I was grateful I couldn't feel the humidity in the air.
The night sky on my second and third floor look like the night sky from my past life and I wondered how my delvers would feel about it, it felt very plain compared to what I had seen up on the first floor but maybe they would find the beauty in the simplicity of it. I sat on my altar and gazed out over my floor for six sun and moon cycles before I checked out the population of my monsters again.
The number of my monsters had gone up a lot and I was happy to see all of them had found a spot to claim as their own. The monkeys ruled the forest trees, they knew where all the fruit trees were and had learned where the few tree nuts grew.
The snakes were helping the gars keep the snapper populations down and the otters were all over the place, and the dolphins were doing great, I didn't feel the need to rush them because I didn't know how well they fit in the mangroves.
It seemed like everything was functioning like it was supposed to and I felt comfortable enough starting my fourth floor now. I was starting to notice some sun around the edges of my cave again and I knew I had spent almost a whole year on my third floor. I had been a dungeon core for almost two years now and it just didn't feel all that long to me. Looking back I spent a surprising amount of time being distracted with my side projects. Tehehe. I can't help it. It's so much fun to be able to make new things.
