I know the description says that a swarm of foxes could take down larger predators but I didn't really think that four would would be enough. It took them all of two minutes to rip the throat out of the wolf. It really didn't stand a chance, what I've come to realize is that all my creatures work in harmony without any issue. Do they have a hive mind? Can they communicate with one another? Something to consider.
I quickly absorbed the wolf and proceeded to summon six males and three females. I'm sure they will build their numbers and hierarchy by themselves. They would be the rulers of this first floor. I just wanted one more critter before I started on my second floor. Maybe an owl or one of those horned ice rabbits. I bet they are super cute! And while it will pain me to kill it I'll always have them around after that. Worth a little guilt.
[Snowy wolf. Large predator that feels no fear. They are the pack kings. Together they can take down a solitary Polar Ice Bear. Use wind magic to run longer distances.]
I noticed during the fight that when the wolf killed my voles he got some mana and I also got a small part of it. I guess that makes sense. I'm still sad about my voles but I can make more, there is an option to use dp to revive all my cute critters but I don't see the value of it. That's just the circle of life my friend.
If I someday created a sentient race that could talk and grow I would absolutely use the dp to make them revive. I would want them to learn from each experience and turn into true monsters. Muahaha. But that's later on down the line, right now its still super cheap to summon stuff with mana. I got twenty dp for the wolf and it makes me happy to know the bigger the critter the more dp.
And so we continue waiting for our next guest to come. I'm not really sure how to keep track of time because nothing ever changes outside but I'm pretty sure it's been a few months since the wolf came. It's a little frustrating to realize there must not be much outside, but my dungeon is thriving.
Even though I don't have a fourth creature my ecosystem is pretty self sustaining and now I have two different wolf packs and a bunch of cute wolf cubs running around chasing the foxes and voles around all day.
I have the urge to get started on my second floor already. So I consider my options, wait until it turns dark? if it even does, to start my next floor and hope something wanders in looking for a place to sleep out the long dark months or start my next floor and monitor the first floor minimally and throw myself into making as many floors as I can.
Hmm.. It really tickles my core when I think about making new floors. But still I don't want to rush things. The dark months can't be that far off. I'll wait. I'm not really in a rush.
I think another month has passed, I've finally noticed it getting darker outside. I feel like I could totally work with this set up. I basically have half a year to prepare myself before people might start venturing out. I doubt they would go adventuring in the darkness.
Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.
My patience has finally paid off and a horned ice rabbit made its way into my dungeon. Lured in by my voles. Muahaha I swear I'm not evil but they make the best bait and they reproduce so damn fast! Faster than either of the other two. But anyway. I couldn't believe what a good fight that little guy put up! He definitely has guts. But it didn't take long for one of the wolves to take it down. I absorbed it quickly.
[Horned Ice Hare. Small omnivore that is brave beyond it's size. They have adapted to live in packs and hunt together. Anything that come near should beware. Ice magic user.]
Meh. Rabbit, hare? Same thing to me. I won't be picky. I summon six males and six females and send them off to find there own place on the first floor. Thankfully I'm buried in voles so my fluffy babies don't feel the need to immediately start hunting down the hares. I now feel much better about my first floor. Prey and predators exist and I think I'm ready to move on to my second floor. Not that I won't keep adding things as I get them.
I choose a place not far away from my altar here at the very back of the cave and will myself to create some spiral stairs down to my soon to be second floor. It's a very easy thing to do but I'm already being surprised. There's so much stuff buried down here.
How did I not come across any of this when I dug out the first floor. I felt a little cheated but no big deal. It's just fucking gold. So much gold I could have retired in my past life after just digging out my stairs. I was excited thinking about all the gold that I was sure to come. Muahaha.
I was right. My second floor is a fucking gold mine. And not just gold but also some copper, iron, silver, galena and some tetradymite. I wasn't sure what the last two were but the system was kind enough to explain them to me.
Galena is really pretty and I plan to do some experiments with it and the other one is a mineral. Nothing out of the ordinary to be truthful. But none the less I was happy.
After I finished carving out the system alloted stairs I received another notification but I put it to the back of my mind and dug out my second floor until the system stopped me from digging again. Now I turned my attention back to my notifications and glossed over the important ones.
[Congratulations on finishing your first floor. One hundred dungeon points as a reward. Please choose the ecosystem for your second and also your next starter creature. Creature will be based of ecosystem. ]
[Grassland, wetlands, desert, forest, coral reef, tundra, terrestrial, savanna, rainforest, freshwater, lake, taiga boreal, mangrove, swamp, volcanic, mountain ]
Well.. I already have a wacky idea in mind and I guess now is the time to experiment. I plan on making my second floor an everlasting spring. Who wouldn't be surprised to finish my frozen tundra floor and go down the stairs and take off all your cold gear and relax for a second in the beautiful weather. So with that thought in mind I was torn between the grassland and the forest.
I could totally picture a grassland full of always blooming flowers and herds of roaming creatures or a forest full of delicious things to eat that you can only find after some effort. With creatures that hunt in large packs. After a moment of careful consideration I pick the grasslands and imagine all my wonderful healing plants and watch as my floor changes into something even more magical than I had pictured.
