Chapter forty six

Katherine Pov

After taking down the bears we felt like they could take on the entire third floor. As long as it didn't live underwater. She made sure to check on the new trees she found as often as she could.

She was always amazed at the speed everything grew in this dungeon. Maybe it was all dungeons? She couldn't remember her parents saying anything about it. It could be all dungeons though.

Once the trees started bearing fruit flowers she got really excited at the thought of fresh fruits. She wasn't afraid of a little salty or bitter fruit. It would probably make a great addition to her dishes.

She drooled as she dreamed of delicious food. She still had a bunch of flowers and honey from the second floor but she was already running out of the spices she had collected. Those had been harder to find after all.

While she could back track and collect some stuff from the second floor she would rather move on to the fourth floor. She expected that floor to have the greatest bounty of spices and herbs. She had never forgotten all those goodies gifted to her from the fourth floor.

She hoped it wouldn't be but a couple of months or so before they could move on to the next floor. Three years for each floor sounded right. It was hard to know the exact day but the system was helpful and always reminded her of the day she arrived in the dungeon. It also reminded the kids of course.

She had finally leveled up her low harvester skill to a medium level skill. It helped her notice the scattered mushrooms that grew on ground by the trees. They had blended in so well before, she hadn't realized they were there.

She used her skill on them just to be sure. She would rather not die from eating a mushroom.

[Black trumpet mushroom. Difficult to find because when they are ripe the top looks just like a fallen leaf. They grow in wet and decaying places. Good for the brain and immune system.]

She's delighted that they are indeed edible. She didn't think the harvester skill would do her wrong though. She found a large patch of mushrooms and instructed the teenagers to pick them while she pondered for a little bit.

She had reached level thirty in the two years that they had been on the third floor. She wanted to wait until the Rose and Lyra were settled into the hunting party before she tried to break off from the group to level by herself.

She needed to level up faster if she wanted to be close to level one hundred by the time her birthday came around. It would be awesome if she could get two tails at once. That was her goal at the moment. Fortunately she still had seventeen years before that.

She was still only eighty three years old. Some days she forgot she was still a child with just a single tail under her belt. She was so happy that the system didn't care what race it was. They all activated their system as the age of twelve. It gave the long lived races a more relaxed vibe usually, less pressure.

Most didn't have the capability to become gods. While it was theoretically possible for everyone to become a God, it was very time consuming and resource intense. Thankfully this dungeon seemed perfect for the use of becoming a God. It's floors seemed endless and it was filled to the brim with monsters and it nourished the soul.

It wasn't long before the group cleared the patch of mushrooms and they moved on in search of another one. With her med harvester skill she knew that the new dungeon fruits would be ready tomorrow when they came out to explore. She hadn't told the kids though so she was excited to see their faces when they saw the fruits.

After spending the day hunting and collecting mushrooms they went back to the cabin and she fried up a huge pot of mushrooms with bear meat and they gorged until they couldn't move from the table.

Since no one was going anywhere anytime soon she asked Rose and Lyra how much longer until their systems would activate. They both pulled up their system panels to check. The system was gracious enough to give them a count down.

It was just the norm. Most people lived out in the country and didn't even know what day of the week it was, much less the date of their birth. Rose told her that her system would activate in three days and Lyra said that hers would activate in eight days.

Wow. It really wouldn't be long now. She turned to the older group and asked each of them to tell her their level. Leto is level twenty eight, not that far behind her. Harmin is level twenty five. Silas is level twenty three.

Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.

Hara is level twenty. She's not as much of a risk taker like the rest of the group. Garm is level eighteen even though it wasn't that long ago that he joined it seemed. And Heros is already level twelve after helping take down the bears.

Jeez these kids grow so fast. She made them all some tea with honey before sending the boys back to their cabin. She wasn't worried about them. They could handle anything on this floor except the stupid bi polar dolphins and the sea cows.

The next day when everyone gathered up she announced that they would hunt for turtles all day long. They had hunted a few in the past but she wanted to stock up on some shields to see if they could help them defeat some of the killer dolphins.

They couldn't do much against a mental attack but they could prepare for the brutal beating that came afterwards. The idea was to load up on shields and lure a dolphin in to the shallow end of the mangrove forest and cut off it's path of retreat with a shield wall. It wasn't the worst plan actually.

She thought it had potential. The only issue was that the turtle shell shields were pretty low quality. They could only survive one or two hits before it would start cracking and by the third hit it would start falling apart. If all the kids could have five or six shields each she was sure they would be able to take down quite a number of dolphins.

During the search for turtles they came across quite a few of the new fruit trees on the floor and the kids looked on in shock and delight at the clusters of yellow bananas that littered the trees. The pineapples that looked a little intimidating. The bright yellow lemons and the reddish orange apples.

The floor had completely changed over night. The monkeys were more active than she had ever seen them before. They jumped from tree to tree trying to eat all the fruits. It was quite comical actually. She was finally able to use her skill on them though.

[Proboscis monkey. Proficient swimmers. They prefer to stay in the trees just in case a crocodile shows up. They use a water slash to fight off predators.]

They don't seem to mind us at all but it doesn't matter, she needs to kill one to get a figurine. She was starting to realize that she had a problem. She could go to the fourth floor any moment she wanted to.

She didn't because she was still missing figurines! These stupid monkeys were great at evading her and she had practically forgotten they existed. And of course the other two devilish monsters on this floor.

She would use these new fruits to lure a monkey away from the group so she could get her figurine at the very least. If that turned the whole group against her than so be it. They would feast on monkey!

Luckily the monkeys turned out to be too lazy to hold a grudge so they continued hunting for turtles. They had amassed a large amount of turtle meat but not enough shells so they might have to do this two days in a row.

She was ready to go back to the cabin and dry her feet off before making some turtle stew with mushrooms and apple slices for dessert. The apples were bitter like they were warned but she thought a little honey would fix that right up.

She almost drooled at the thought of the honey covered apples but she held herself back and pulled out a cluster of bright yellow bananas. She cut three bananas into three pieces so they could each try it to see if they liked it.

They were... Different than she was expecting. The salty sweet thing it had going on wasn't bad but the texture just didn't feel right on her tongue. She could tell by the looks on the kids faces that she was alone in her thoughts though. The kids all looked extremely delighted.

After spending two years give or take a few months on the third floor he had now adjusted to his weird nightly dreams and no longer woke up feeling like he was a different person. By now he had managed to remember a few things from his dreams. He could recognize a plethora of magical herbs and dangerous beasts. But his biggest desire from his dreams is to be able to transform and fly.

He spends most of his free time day dreaming about flying. He would sit on the floor in the cabin and close his eyes and try his best to regulate his breathing and try to force himself to dream while he was awake. He had only managed to do it on a handful of occasions but each time he came out of his trance he felt stronger. He wasn't sure if it was real or not though.

He found himself staring at the cabin on the island more often than not if they were in the area. He was ready to move on, he knew that Kat liked to collect all her figurines before moving on though. He didn't know how to bring it up with her. It didn't seem fair to ask her to stop doing the one thing she truly found fun to do in the dungeon. He had grown to enjoy fighting over the last year or so.

He had spent a lot of time helping Harmin and Silas work on their blade skills. Garm would usually stand close by to help if one of us got hurt. Now that he had a wand that helped condense his healing magic on to a single point it was much more efficient than before. While Kat hadn't told us what the wands were made of, she did make it very clear that we should keep them well hidden after we left the dungeon.

Hara did her best to try and learn some magic spells. It wasn't easy for her considering she didn't have anyone to teach her. The only magic Kat knew was how to make a fire ball and the plant grow spell. Kat sat down with her she told her the best way to learn magic was to have fun with it. Magic is only limited by your imagination and mana pool.

Obviously larger items cost more mana so they may not form no matter how much you imagine them like a boulder the size of the cabin, but small things like a fire ball or water ball or a rock bullet were all very possible. It still took her a while to figure it out but eventually she managed. He was excited for the kids to activate their systems so they could work together as a group to take down this floor.

He was anxious to move on to the next floor so they could get strong enough to live outside the dungeon without any worries. He felt like a storm was coming soon.
