Prologue

The sound of students talking to each other echoed through the hallways of Anetop Academy, a school built specifically to teach both scholastic activities, and cultivation. Staring out the window of class was Mark Sion, student council president. He rested his head against his fist, barely paying attention to the overlapping chatter of his classmates.

"Did you hear about the new season of Fixing Good?"

"I just got a new gaming PC!"

"I learned a new ability yesterday!"

"When is class going to start?"

Some students started bragging about the new abilities they had learned from training recently.

"I'm telling you, I almost learned how to perfectly levitate yesterday."

"Sure, if by 'perfectly' you mean floating upside down for two seconds and then falling on your head."

"How would you even know? You weren't there."

Mark let out a sigh as he continued looking out the window. He didn't really like talking about the mundane things the other students did. As the class president, it was his duty to help any student who needed his help, although, it seemed as if none of the other students even cared. The abilities these students were so proud of were the basics that he had learned within just a few days. His mind began to wander as he thought to himself.

"Why won't anyone take this seriously? You'd think people, especially teenagers, would be excited to cultivate what are essentially superpowers, but no. They are content with just learning the bare minimum, which baffles me."

As he thought these things, Mark had his sight focused on the skyline of the capital city known as Cintianta, just a few miles away. The skyscrapers of the metropolis were so large, they were easily visible for many miles.

As Mark continued to stare, a massive mushroom cloud erupted over the skyline. Mark's eyes went wide, and out of instinct, he shot out of his seat. This caused the rest of the class to turn to look at him, confused expressions on all of their faces.

He was unable to speak, frozen from the shock of what had just happened. Just then, the delayed shockwave rippled through the classroom, causing all of the windows to shatter instantly, and causing all of the students to fall to the ground. The deafening sound of the explosion had finally reached them as well, and all the students started screaming in fear.

Emergency alarms started ringing throughout the school and students began hiding under desks. A teacher then burst through the door, quickly getting everyone's attention.

"EVERYONE! CINTIANTA IS UNDER ATTACK BY A LEVEL 50 BEAST! TAKE COVER NOW!"

When cultivation was discovered within this world, it sparked a lot of interest from otherworldly creatures. Despite life existing in many planets throughout the universe, none were able to acquire supernatural abilities, aside from Earth. Many aliens and interdimensional beings wished to acquire these powers for themselves. They assumed that if they could take over the planet, they could possibly take over the powers bestowed within the planet as well.

Over the years, humans created a system to rate the power levels of certain beasts. Many higher level cultivators have an ability which has been dubbed "Reader." It allows for the user to see what a being is comparable to. In the case of living things, Reader would say a level 1 being would be equivalent to a fire ant. The levels vary drastically however. In the case of this beast, level 50 would be equivalent to a building-sized asteroid.

As all the students scrambled to hide under desks, the teacher turned to Mark who was still standing frozen in fear. She immediately pointed at him.

"MARK! COME WITH ME!"

Mark shook his head and snapped out his trance. He started to run behind the teacher as they both left the classroom.

"You should be used to this by now. Monsters invade the city at least once every year."

"Yeah, but I wasn't expecting it so soon. We just had a monster attack a neighboring city just two months ago."

"You have to realize that these beasts attack cities all over the planet indiscriminately. We have no way to predict their arrivals."

Mark's heart was beating a mile a minute. Just like the teacher said, he should have been used to these attacks by now, especially as the student council president. However, they still shook him to the core as he imagined the countless lives being taken every time a monster arrived.

The teacher opened the door to the gymnasium. Inside were of the rest of the student council, of which there were three, preparing themselves to face off against the beast. It was the student council's job to assist the police in facing off against monsters that attacked the capital.

"I'm glad everyone's here already. Go to the police station and assist with whatever they need help with."

One of the student council members, a boy named Kal, spoke up.

"I know it's our job to do this, but this is a level 50 beast. The last beast we fought was level 20. We are in no position to assist the police here."

The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

Another member of the student council, a girl named Sana, also spoke up.

"Yeah. We are going to die out there. Even if we are just assisting the police, we are still putting ourselves out there to possibly be killed."

The teacher pointed at the school uniform Sana was wearing. In this school there was no gender specific dress-code. Instead, all students must wear a white dress shirt and a red tie, along with a grey suit coat, and pants. On the left side of every student's suit is an emblem that must be worn. The teacher pointed directly at the emblem.

"That badge is the symbol of this school. The red background represents the blood of the fallen, and the blue design represents the sky, and its hope for tomorrow. You all know this, so fight for the fallen, and for tomorrow's sky.

Despite it being a rather short speech, it was enough for the council to remember why they joined the student council in the first place. To help and protect every student within the school.

"Yes ma'am!"

The teacher nodded and walked out of the gymnasium, back to protect her classroom.

Mark regained his composure and faced the rest of the student council.

"Okay guys. We gotta get going."

He opened the backdoor and began sprinting outside. The rest of the council following closely behind him.

In the center of the city, police officers began firing off blasts of concentrated energy from their hands that appeared blue at the beast. The powers that could be cultivated were so integral in society, that police no longer used guns as their own hands were quite literally weapons now.

The beast itself didn't even notice the beams of energy that were colliding with its skin. It simply tore down buildings with single swipes of its hands, and stepped on cars with its bare feet. It was at least the size of a 5 story building. It was a reptile-like creature with red, scaly skin. It's teeth were as sharp as razors, and it's eyes were as yellow as lemons.

The screams of citizens echoed throughout the streets as the officers kept firing off their beams of energy, but it was futile.

As it became clearer that the beams of energy were not going to be effective, one of the officers brought out a massive railgun with wheels that he drove over to the rest of the officers. The gun was powered by the same energy the officers had cultivated.

"EVERYONE! PUT YOUR HANDS ON THE RAILGUN!"

As officers ran over to the railgun, they each put their hand on the sides. Their hands all radiated with blue hues and the gun began to hum with power. One of the officers began to mutter to himself as the beast

"Hurry up dammit!"

The student council had finally arrived at the scene. They were panting as they were out of breath from running all the way from the school to the city. The sheriff, who also had his hand on the railgun, had a confused expression on his face.

"Did you walk here? Don't you have cars?"

Mark turned to another member of the student council, a boy named Allan. He gave Allan a death stare, and Allan laughed nervously. The day before, Allan had parked the school emergency vehicle on a slope when using it to carry wood for the construction of a shed. However, he never actually put it in park, causing it to fall into a nearby pond. Mark turned back to the officer and took a deep breath before exhaling.

"It's a long story. Anyway, what do you need help with?"

"Just put your hands on this railgun. Maybe you could speed up its charging process."

Mark nodded and put his hands on the railgun, as did the rest of the council. The gun started to hum louder than before. The officer who was driving it began to get excited.

"ALMOST THERE!"

Everyone began concentrating their power directly into their hands. They were using so much of their power that it was physically painful for them, but they didn't care. They needed to save the city.

"JUST A LITTLE MORE!"

The officer driving the railgun looked down at a meter that was on the panel of the gun. It was almost filled with enough power to launch.

The beast finally noticed them and started walking over to them. Each step caused the ground to shake. The sheriff gritted his teeth, knowing that they didn't have much time left.

"HURRY HURRY HURRY!"

Just then, the meter filled all the way up. The officer who was driving the railgun looked down at everyone else and gave them a thumbs up.

"IT'S READY!"

Mark let out a sigh of relief and turned to the student council.

"We should be good now."

The council nodded and looked up to see the railgun glowing with power. The officer pressed the fire button, causing the railgun to unleash a devastating beam of fully concentrated energy at the beast.

The beast let out a loud growl of pain, and stumbled backwards. The light from the beam alone was bright enough to blind someone. All of the officers and the student council members covered their eyes immediately.

When the railgun ceased its attack, the beast had disappeared. Everyone lowered their arms away from their eyes and looked around, but there was no sight of the monster anywhere. Sana put her hand to her chin and thought to herself for a second.

"Did we kill it?"

There was a deafening silence for a few seconds. No one knew what happened for sure. Their eyes then widened with fear when they heard the same stomping from earlier that caused the ground beneath them to tremble.

They turned around to see that the beast was still alive, and took the opportunity of the group's blindness, to walk past them and leave the city. The sheriff was shaking with pure terror.

"No no no no. It's just going to kill more people."

Mark turned to the sheriff, also trembling in fear. He had no clue what they were supposed to do now, if there even was anything to do.

"What... what are we supposed to do?"

Allan pointed towards the beast and his voice hitched in his throat.

"THAT'S THE DIRECTION OF THE SCHOOL!"

The rest of the student council stared at him with wide eyes and dropped jaws. They had not only failed the city, but the school as well.

As the beast continued its rampage, more people ran for their lives screaming in fear. One girl however, who stood out do to her striking silver hair, perpetual cowlick, and crimson demon horns was too busy thinking to herself to even notice. She wore the same uniform the other students from Anetop Academy wore, however her tie had an unfamiliar white design on it. She was obviously late for school.

She was in her own world, her hands in her pockets, lost in thought, quietly mumbling to herself.

"Is it 'party rock is' or 'party rockers'?"

The beast then let out another one of its deafening roars. This got the girl's attention. She looked up to see the massive figure standing just a few feet away from her. The beast also looked down at her and the two made eye contact. The beast immediately attempted to chomp down on her, but she simply raised her hand towards it. Her fingers were in the shape of a gun.

"Bam!"

The center of the beast's forehead exploded with blood. The force of the attack sent it falling backwards, hitting the ground with a loud thud. The girl stared at the dead body of the beast for a few seconds before putting her hand back in her pocket, walking back down the street as if nothing had happened.

"Where was I? Oh yeah, I'm pretty sure it's 'party rock is'..."

Within a few minutes, the student council made their way running towards where they saw the beast walk off to. They all stopped when they saw the giant dead body laying on the ground. By this time, there was a crowed of people blocking the way. Some were even taking pictures of the body.

Mark was utterly flabbergasted. He had absolutely no clue how something like this was even possible.

"H...how? Who did this?"
