Chapter 31

Saneko sat at the kitchen table, arms crossed, glaring at an empty bowl that was right in front of her face. Normally, she would have used telekinesis to pour her cereal and milk into the bowl, but today she was too down to even do that. Saneko didn't really need to eat though, because she never actually got hungry. Her physiology was much different than that of an average human. Her stomach did not allow for food to enter as it instead produced nutrition itself that constantly sustained her. The food she consumes simply disintegrates within her digestive system before it can reach her stomach, and the only reason she eats is because of the taste. It gives her no feeling of satisfaction to actually consume the meal though. Drinking, however, does. Thus her dilemma. She couldn't get her mind off of her beloved banana smoothies.

Mrs. Sarakana sat across from Saneko at the table, sipping on a cup of coffee, ignoring the way her daughter’s eyes coldly stared at her.

"I'm still mad at you."

"I'm aware."

"I can teleport away and get a banana smoothie anytime I want you know."

"And you would really disobey your poor mother like that? I thought I raised you better."

Saneko couldn't stand her mother's guilt tripping. She just groaned and put her forehead to the table.

"PLEASE MOM! JUST LET ME GET ONE! IT'S SUNDAY AND I HAVE SCHOOL TOMORROW!"

"You act like a child."

With an aggravated expression, Saneko lifted her head and gave her mom a death stare.

"You're a jerk."

Mrs. Sarakana didn’t respond to the accusation, which only made Saneko sulk more. Mr. Sarakana then entered the kitchen and got a carton of juice from out of the refrigerator. Hearing him opening the fridge caught Saneko's attention.

"Dad. Will you please let me have just one banana smoothie?"

Her dad turned to see that she had puppy dog eyes, something she usually never resorted to, but she was desperate.

"Awww how can I say no. Oh wait, it's pretty easy. No."

Saneko slammed her fists on the table in frustration, only for the table to snap in half. Mrs. Sarakana continued sipping on her coffee, looking down at the broken table.

"Hmmm. Settle down Saneko. I sense some anger in you."

"UGH!"

Saneko stood up and stomped off to her room. This was becoming more common for her to do when she didn't get her way. When she got into her room, she started pacing back and forth, desperate for a banana smoothie.

"What am I supposed to do? I want... no, I NEED a banana smoothie!"

As she paced, she seriously considered using Color Spectrum Blue to manipulate time again to either reverse or fast forward to before or after her punishment. She thought this over a few times, but ultimately came to the decision that she shouldn't do something that would alter lives again. She had already done it a few times, and was surprisingly starting to feel guilty about it.

She started seething with anger as she continued thinking about being grounded. Not to mention how her chance to join the Hero Foundation was stripped away from her. All of this was building up, causing her restraint to falter. Luckily, the seal she had placed upon herself was very powerful. Otherwise, the pressure caused by her anger alone could have probably crushed the entire house at this point.

"What is she doing now?"

Kray and Chrona stared at the hologram on the table they always sat at. It was zoomed in right on Saneko who was just walking back and forth in her room, ranting to herself. Kray had absolutely no clue what to make of this.

"Is she planning something?"

"I don't think so Kray. If I understand correctly, it appears as if she has been grounded and is just really mad about that."

"This girl killed all of our knights, yet can be grounded? How is that even possible?"

"Don't ask me."

Kray rubbed his eyelids as he tried to understand all of this. Chrona never even told him what was so special about the mortal realm, so he didn't understand why they were even observing Saneko, but he was far too invested at this point.

"So Chrona, can you at least tell me what's so special about Earth?"

"It has a special item remember?"

"Yeah, I know, but what is it."

"I can't tell you that."

"Why not?"

"You might steal it."

"Huh? You really think that I'd steal it?"

"Don't get me wrong Kray, I trust you, but this item is far too valuable to take any risks. A normal cultivator could easily awaken nirvana if they harnessed the power of this item."

If you find this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the infringement.

"You said it's mass produced."

"It is, and on top of that, it is widely distributed."

"Then how has no one achieved nirvana yet?"

"Because this girl is the only one who actually values this item. No one else seems to care."

Kray wasn't an idiot. He could easily put two and two together and figure out what Chrona was talking about.

"Oh. I get it."

Chrona glanced over at him. She realized she had said too much, but it was too late now. She shook her head and continued observing the hologram, placing both of her arms on the table.

"I'm still coming up with a plan to defeat her, but I just need some more time to witness everything she can do."

Kray nodded and shifted in his seat. He thought about the irony of Saneko wanting to be the main character of a story so much, while they were essentially viewing her life as a story that she was the main character of. She was accomplishing her goal without even realizing it. Although, they also witnessed her childish outbursts, which wouldn't be something she wanted.

As she continued pacing in her room, the sound of the doorbell was heard which momentarily caught her off guard. She heard her mom call for her from the front door.

"IT'S FOR YOU SANEKO!"

"For me? Hmm."

She faced her door and placed her right hand over her right eye. Her left eye started to glisten and she could then see through the walls of the house. She was very impulsive, so she usually never used this ability. In fact, she outright ignored she had it most of the time, but due to her confrontation with Chloe, she realized that she should take these things more seriously. The person she saw at the door was none other than her disciple.

Her door swung open, and she stepped out. She was now wearing her school uniform because she could obviously not be seen wearing her lazy clothes in front of her disciple. The boy looked past Mrs. Sarakana to see Saneko and his face immediately lit up.

"DEMON BABE!"

Mrs. Sarakana looked at the boy and then looked at Saneko a few times in a mix of confusion and disbelief.

"Wait what?"

Mr. Sarakana looked at the boy and tilted his head, recognizing him from somewhere, but not being able to put his finger on where.

"What brings you to my domain?"

"Well, the other day a girl started talking about you, and at first I didn't think anything of it, but then I started following her secretly and saw her talk to you at this house. I saw you teleport behind her and kill her!"

Mr. and Mrs. Sarakana both turned to Saneko with shocked expressions.

"YOU KILLED HER?"

"Haha! I did not kill her. She simply fainted from being in the presence of perfection."

"SO COOL!"

Saneko stepped past her mother and stood outside of the door before closing it. Mr. Sarakana then remembered where he saw the boy from.

"Oh god. That kid is someone Saneko convinced to worship her I think."

"Wait... OUR DAUGHTER HAS A FRIEND?"

The idea of Saneko making a friend was always on her mind.

Saneko leaned against the door, trying to appear as nonchalant as possible. She slightly adjusted the badge on her uniform and cleared her throat.

"So did you simply wish to discuss the matter with that girl or was there another reason you came here?"

"Oh yeah, there was another reason, but first I was going to ask who those people were inside. Were they your parents?"

This question made her unnecessarily nervous. She looked away and began to sweat a bit.

"Ha! Parents? Do not be silly. They are my servants! I am a queen remember?"

"OH YEAH! I'M SORRY I FORGOT! PLEASE FORGIVE ME!"

Saneko could not believe how this kid would just believe anything she said, but she loved it regardless. It made things easy on her.

"Anyway, what was it you wanted to say little one?"

"It was this. I recently tried really hard to learn cultivation. I practiced all night yesterday, and I can now do this."

The boy put his hand out and began conjuring up a flame. He was visibly straining his body, but he didn't care. He wanted to prove himself to his idol. Saneko perked up again seeing a tiny flame appear in the boy's hand. Once it fully developed, he turned around and struck a heroic pose just like Saneko would do, and shot the fireball off into the sky. Saneko looked up to see the ball disappear into the sky and she was amazed. The way he said he trained all night, alongside his heroic pose, really reminded Saneko of a show called, 'Training To Be The Strongest At Age 8'."

She involuntarily started clapping her hands, seeing potential in this boy.

"VERY NICE!"

"REALLY? YOU MEAN IT?"

"INDEED! YOU ARE TRULY FIT TO BE MY DISCIPLE! NOW GO AND SHOW ALL OF YOUR FRIENDS!"

Since she was grounded, she decided that she would live vicariously through her disciple. He smiled and nodded.

"THANK YOU SO MUCH! I WILL!"

He started running off to go show off to his friends. Saneko simply stood there, very proud of him, not really caring that she was definitely creating a monster. It didn't need to be said, but Saneko's personality is not one worth imitating.

She turned around and opened the door, stepping back inside with a smug smile on her face. Her mom ran up and tackled her in a tight hug which Saneko was not expecting.

"WHAT'S HAPPENING?"

"YOU MADE A REAL FRIEND! I'M SO PROUD OF YOU!"

"Oh uh... yeah. Why is that hard to believe? I'm very personable."

"Hehe~ yeah. Well, anyway. I'm so proud, that I think you deserve to have your punishment lifted!"

She didn't understand her mom's logic, but she wasn't complaining in the slightest. Her heart started beating faster with excitement and she could already taste the mouthwatering banana smoothie. Mr. Sarakana pointed at her, attempting to get her attention.

"Saneko, you're drooling."

She wiped her mouth and began sprinting outside, running towards the ice cream shop with tears of joy in her eyes. The fresh wind colliding with her face as she ran felt euphoric at this moment.

Mr. and Mrs. Sarakana watched as she ran off to the ice cream shop. Mrs. Sarakana wiped away a tear from her eye and sniffled.

"She's finally growing up and making friends."

"Like I said, I'm pretty sure that was just an impressionable kid."

"Yeah. Saneko has a friend."

She was so overjoyed by the thought of Saneko making a friend that she stopped paying attention to anything else.

Kray sat back in his chair and clicked his tongue in boredom.

"She's not even doing anything remotely interesting. She's just being arrogant everyday and always getting what she wants without learning a lesson."

"Well you have to remember that she got a lot of her personality traits from anime. Who can blame her for being this way?"

Kray shrugged a bit and he looked really tired. While he was invested in what would happen with Saneko, he also lost hope in actually defeating her. They only have attempted to attack her twice, however, one knight would usually be enough to defeat anyone from the Mortal Realm, let alone an entire army.

"Listen, this... item you want so badly. Why do you even want it if we are from a world above? Shouldn't our world take precedence over the lower ones?"

"..."

"Chrona?"

"That is none of your business Kray."

Kray was surprised by Chrona's harsh response. It wasn't like her to respond that way. He looked a bit uncomfortable and stood up to leave the room.

"Alright. Sorry."

"I didn't mean to be rude. I just don't feel like explaining it right now."

Kray nodded and left the room. In this world, there wasn't really much to do. Time didn't flow here, so the only thing to do was manufacture hundreds of thousands of knights with otherworldly magic. At least Kray managed to find ways to keep himself busy. Chrona used to be that way until she discovered how powerful Saneko was.
