As Saneko put on her dress shoes for another day of school, she turned to look at her mom who was watching the TV intently.
”I’m going mom. See ya.”
Saneko’s voice snapped Mrs. Sarakana our of her trance momentarily.
”Oh, bye! Have a good day!”
”You too.”
Saneko exited the house and closed the door behind her. Mrs. Sarakana focused her attention back to the TV. It was breaking news that a monster was attacking a city in Brazil. The beast was as large as a skyscraper and had green fur. It stood on four legs, had antlers, and resembled an eldritch creature of some sort. According to the news, the Hero Foundation were on their way to defeat the monster, but it was a level 70 threat.
Mrs. Sarakana didn’t want Saneko to see the news. She knew Saneko would want to defeat it, and such a beast could most likely level continents if it wanted to. She didn’t want her daughter getting mixed up in that. She began to think that maybe life was better before cultivation was discovered.
Of course, her attempts to hide the news were in vain. She had the volume low, but that wasn’t enough to get past Saneko’s hearing. She should have known that by now. As soon as Saneko closed the door, she squealed in excitement and her mind raced with ideas on how to beat the monster.
”Yes! This is my chance to gain global notoriety! I just need to think of the best way to defeat the monster.”
simply defeating a monster of such scale would be enough to gain global notoriety, but Saneko wouldn’t settle for the bare minimum. She needed to be seen as the best. If she wasn’t, what was even the point?
”Maybe I could use telekinesis you throw it into space? No, too lame. Cultivators could probably do that.”
She looked to the sky to ponder more ideas on how to defeat the creature.
”I could maybe rip all of its limbs off. That would be pretty cool. Oh no, never mind. That would take more than one strike, and I want to defeat it in one blow like the main character from ‘My Cheat Skill Lets Me Beat Everyone With One Attack’.”
She then looked down at her hand and started opening and closing it.
”Maybe resorting to the classics would be the best option.”
”DEMON BABE! THERE YOU ARE!”
This voice caused Saneko to look up from her hand. She saw the boy who had become her self proclaimed disciple running up to her with a bright smile on his face. Saneko instantly stood tall, glancing down to make sure her school uniform was not dusty.
”My disciple! What brings you here to greet me this early?”
He stopped in front of her and pointed behind himself to the direction of the ice cream shop Saneko bought banana smoothies from.
”I was just leaving the ice cream shop and I saw your horns. I knew it was you!”
Saneko smiled when he mentioned the ice cream shop. Her mind immediately went to banana smoothies.
”I knew my disciple had good taste. Did you get a small, medium, or large banana smoothie?”
”Oh, I got vanilla ice cream with extra sprinkles. Those banana smoothies are yucky.”
Saneko walked past him with her hands in her pockets with an unreadable expression on her face.
”You are no longer my disciple. Get lost.”
The boy got shocked and ran after her. He clung to the back of her suit and started crying.
”No! What did I do wrong?”
“You have used the name of banana smoothies in vain.”
”Please forgive me Ms. Demon Babe!”
She couldn’t lie, hearing someone beg for her approval made her extremely happy. Her usual smug smile appeared on her face and she quickly turned around to face the boy.
”As the gracious Demon Babe, I shall forgive your sin this once and only this once!”
The boy sighed in relief. Even though he rarely saw her, he idolized Demon Babe for saving him.
”Thank you!”
Saneko then remembered that she had to save the city in Brazil from the monster that was attacking it.
”Dear disciple, I must go for now. I have a serious duty to attend to.”
”Are you going to protect someone like the awesome hero you are?”
”Indeed!”

Usually this was something Saneko would fabricate. If the boy asked her that question when she was going to the store, she would have most likely said the same thing, but hey, at least she was telling the truth in this situation.
”Watch the news little one. I will be on it, and I will be praised.”
With those words, Saneko disappeared. The boy got excited and immediately ran to his home. The thought of seeing the “hero” he idolized so much on TV was exhilarating. He burst through the door and picked up the TV remote, pointing it at the screen. His mom walked in with a confused expression, wondering what was going on.
”What happened? What are you doing?”
”Demon Babe is going to be on TV!”
”Who?”
Meanwhile, at Anetop Academy, Mrs. Gaud had turned on the projector to watch the events taking place in Brazil. The scene was absolutely horrifying, watching the monster devastate a city like it was nothing. Cynthia started to feel sick in her stomach, and she raised her hand to ask a question.
”Mrs. Gaud, why do we have to watch this?”
”This is an HRS class. You will have to get used to seeing the grim realities of our world.”
Cynthia put her arm down, looking away from the screen.
Mark pointed to the screen when a man wearing a red cape and a blue superhero suit flew in and delivered a powerful punch to the monster’s head that caused it to stumble backwards a bit. Mark knew exactly who this was based on the emblem in the shape of a snake on his chest.
”No way! That’s Venomous! A level 65 hero that works for the Hero Foundation!”
This caught the class’s attention. They had heard about him before but they had never seen him in action. They say his punches and kicks are so lethal, it’s as if a venomous snake had just bitten whatever he struck.
The monster regained its composure and lowered its head to use its antlers to ram into the hero. Venomous was able to fly, so he swerved through the air, maneuvering around the beast’s head.
The class let out impressed oohs and ahs at the hero’s display of power. He wasn’t the only hero though. Green, see-through chains wrapped around the legs of the beast, causing it to be unable to move. The class automatically knew who this was. A woman with long white hair and a brown cloak entered the camera frame. This was the level 60 hero, Imaginia. As her name suggests, she could use her imagination to create imaginary items. In this case, she created chains.
Kal was so happy that he could see these hero’s for the first time. He wanted to be like them some day, so seeing this filled him with a strong sense of joy. He leaned over to Mark and began talking to him.
”This is the most impressive thing I’ve ever seen in my life.”
”I know right! I’m also impressed by the cameraman. Truly fearless.”
During all of these events, Saneko was standing on top of a nearby skyscraper the beast hadn’t destroyed yet. She looked down at the desolate streets of the city. She saw the two heroes restraining and attacking the beast. She knew they were on TV, and we’re definitely getting all of the attention. This made her grow very jealous.
Despite the overwhelming power of the two heroes, the beast managed to break free from the green chains, snapping them in half. Imaginia took a step backwards and tried to process what happened.
”WHAT DO WE DO KNOW?”
Venomous looked down at her as he flew in the air. He was about to respond, but while he was distracted, the beast rammed into him with its antlers, sending him flying into a nearby building. Imaginia looked over at where he flew off to with eyes wide with shock. The beast, once again taking advantage of the distraction, kicked Imaginia, sending her too into a nearby building. A smile appeared on Saneko’s face as she witnessed what had just happened.
”THIS IS IT! MY TIME TO SHINE!”
The HRS class was stunned. Not even two of the strongest heroes in the world could take this beast down. They could hear the news reporter panicking off screen.
”NO ONE CAN SAVE US NOW!”
People watching the news all over the world felt a sense of dread at that moment. Sure, the Hero Foundation could call in other heroes, but if it kept going like this, it wouldn’t just be that city that was doomed, but the entire planet.
The mom of the boy who had become Saneko’s disciple was also panicking, pacing around in circles. She believed that this was it. The moment cultivation had lost.
”This is it! We’re doomed!”
”Don’t worry mom. I told you, Demon Babe will save the day.”
”Stop talking about that! Where did you come up with this ridiculous superhero?”
”She’s not ridiculous! She saved me from a bully!”
”This is quite possibly the end of the world! I don’t want to play these games right now!”
The boy pouted and turned back to the TV and pointed at the screen.
”Just watch. I know she’ll appear soon enough. I know it!”
Saneko was waiting for the perfect opportunity. She saw the news crew slowly backing away and she thought that it would be best to jump in front of them so that she could get get all of the screen time. This had to be global news by now, so it was a perfect plan.
She looked at her hand like she did earlier and it started to glow with the purplish black hue. She reached out her hand, and with a quick slicing motion, a purplish black shockwave in the shape of a slice had burst forward, cutting the beast’s head off. The camera crew and everyone watching TV around the world were left speechless. It was so sudden and no one knew exactly what happened.
When the beast collapsed to the ground, Saneko teleported down in front of the camera crew, her back facing towards them. The dust covered her up a bit, making it so that her teleportation wasn’t that obvious. She turned her head slightly so that only her side profile was visible on the camera.
”All things under the heavens will fall like humans, even the stars and the gods, but one thing is eternal, and that is me. Demon Babe.”
The dust mixed with Saneko’s overwhelming aura caused the cameras to start glitching out and shut off right after she said her speech.
The camera crew lowered their cameras only to see that Saneko had now disappeared as if she was never there to begin with. The reporter looked over at the crew with a dumbfounded expression.
”Demon Babe?”
This was the same question everyone watching TV was thinking. Who the hell was that?
”See mom! I told you Demon Babe would save the day. She’s the strongest!”
The boy jumped up and down in excitement. His mom stared at the screen with her jaw dropped.
In the HRS class, the students tilted their heads in confusion at the static of the broken cameras. Many voices started talking about who that figure was.
”Who was that? It sounded like a girl.”
”Yeah she had horns, kind of like Saneko.”
”Wait, more people other than Saneko have horns?”
”I guess so.”
”But didn’t that other girl have a cowlick too? In the same spot even.”
”Wait really?”
Of course, Chloe knew exactly what happened. She couldn’t believe it. She turned around to see that Saneko was not in her seat, and hadn’t been at school the entire day.
”Where did she get this power from?”
Saneko teleported back to her room. She covered her face with her pillow and squealed like a little girl. She was so proud of herself that she didn’t have time to think about the fact that she should be attending school right now. Mrs. Sarakana, hearing Saneko’s familiar squeal, walked into the room and gave her a disappointed expression. Saneko lifted her face out of the pillow and looked at her. She remembered that her mom was also watching the news.
”You are going to school tomorrow.”
Mrs. Sarakana’s voice showed absolutely no sign of playing around.
