Before the sun could rise on Saturday morning, Saneko woke up and jumped out of bed, giddy with excitement. She was practically jumping up and down. Her favorite show was airing episode three today online, however, it was airing at 11:00 am, and it was only 6:00 am. Extremely typical for Saneko to be late for two consecutive days of school, but wake up for an anime five hours before it releases.
She paced around her room in circles, squealing to herself in excitement. She could not wait for this episode as the last one left off on a pretty intense cliffhanger.
"I really hope he kills all of those dumb unbelievers. That'll show them."
Saneko was so lost in her excitement that she forgot to be mad about yesterday's events. Normally, she would be seething about something like that, but with this episode coming out, she could put herself in the shoes of the self-insert main character.
"I can't wait any longer! I know I shouldn't do this, but this is too important."
Saneko's eyes then changed from purple to bright blue. This was an ability that she referred to as "Color Spectrum". While her natural eye color was purple, she could change her eye color at will, and this would give her a specific new ability based on what color it was. In this case, blue would be time manipulation. Yes, whether it was to slow down, accelerate, or stop time, she could do it. It of course caused every living thing to lose some time of their life, but as Saneko said, this was way too important.
The clock started to tick faster as Saneko began accelerating time. The hands on the clock spun in circles until it finally reached 11:00 am. Saneko's eyes faded back to purple, and the clock hands slowed down.
"EEEEH! FINALLY!"
She ran to her desk and sat down on her chair as she opened her laptop. Saneko then stopped when she sensed a presence behind her.
"Who's there?"
"Oh, there's no scaring you is there Saneko."
The voice was of a girl who sounded very familiar to Saneko. She turned around in her seat to see a semi transparent girl with long white hair and a white t-shirt. Saneko immediately recognized the figure.
"Oh, hey N."
"Ugh, I told you not to call me that. My name is Nakialia."
"Too many syllables sorry."
"You're always such a meany!"
Saneko has always had the ability to see spirits. In the case of Nakialia, she was a 15 year old girl who had tripped on a banana peel back in 2019 and cracked her skull in half. It was a very gruesome death.
"Haven't seen you in a while. Or... any spirits for that matter. Where did you all go?"
"A swimming pool was recently installed in heaven so a lot of us ghosts left the astral plain to go there and see it. Us ghosts really love swimming, what can I say?"
"Makes sense. But uh... why are you back?"
"You think I wouldn't notice Earth's time accelerating? Who else but Saneko could do that? It reminded me of all the fun times we used to have. I mean, you were the only human that could see us spirits. Well, calling you a human would be doing you a disservice. I just felt like I should check in on you again"
Saneko thought about the fun times they had. Saneko spent a lot of her time growing up talking to Nakialia about various topics. A lot of people thought Saneko was just talking to the air, and so she got a lot of weird looks. Still though, Saneko couldn't deny the fact that they had gotten along pretty well.
"Well, thanks for checking in on me I guess, but I was just about to watch a show I really like, so if you don't mind..."
"Oh of course. I'll just sit here patiently and wait until it's over."
"Thanks."
Saneko turned back to her computer and her excitement started to return. She started typing the name of the anime streaming website on her computer, but when she pressed enter, a blank screen that said "This site can't be reached" showed up. Saneko felt her heart sink when she saw this. She had been waiting for this episode for an entire week, but now the WiFi was out.
"What? Why is the WiFi out?"
Nakialia thought to herself for a moment before realizing something. She quickly turned to Saneko upon figuring out what probably happened.
"Oh, I think your little outburst yesterday shut down the WiFi connection."
Saneko fell to her hands and knees in despair. All that time spent eagerly awaiting the weekend, all for nothing. Nakialia stood up and approached her in a reassuring manner.
"Don't worry Saneko, I'm sure they'll fix it soon."
"If they haven't fixed it since yesterday afternoon, there's no way they'd fix in the next few minutes."
Saneko's voice was filled with sadness and defeat. Nakialia felt bad for her, but she also knew that this was Saneko's own fault. Suddenly, a knock was heard on the bedroom door and Mr. Sarakana spoke up.
"Who are you talking to?"
"N."
Saneko's voice was so monotone at this point. It was as if she had totally lost the will to live all because of having to wait to watch her favorite show.
"Oh N? Your imaginary friend from years ago?"
"Yeah. Her."
Since the very first time Saneko mentioned Nakialia to her parents, they didn't believe in her existence and simply thought she was Saneko's imaginary friend. Saneko simply gave up on trying to convince them that she was real. It was odd that, in a world where people can cultivate powers, her parents refused to believe in the existence of ghosts. Apparently that concept is too farfetched.

"Well, have fun with N. I'm off to the store."
Once her dad walked away from the door, Saneko could feel nothing but emptiness due to the WiFi being out.
"I'll never have fun again."
Nakialia patted Saneko on the back with her intangible hand, trying to calm her down. She had no idea why this show was so important to Saneko at all, but she still tried to be a good friend about it regardless.
"Don't worry Saneko. You're so powerful, can't you just like, create WiFi?"
"Create WiFi? Don't be foolish."
"What? It was just an idea."
Saneko's eyes then lit up as she had an idea of her own. She stood up and picked up her phone, unlocking it to check something.
"HAHA! I MAY NOT HAVE WIFI, BUT I HAVE CELLULAR DATA!"
"Not to burst your bubble, but I'm pretty sure all of the 5G towers are down too."
"Then I'll teleport to Norway!"
"Why Norway?"
Before Saneko could answer, she had already disappeared without a trace. Nakialia let out a sigh. The first time the two of them talked was when Saneko was ten years old. By that time, Saneko was already obsessed with power fantasy anime, so this shouldn't really come as a shock to her, but at the same time, Nakialia was in disbelief that Saneko still had the same interests she did all those years ago.
Saneko arrived in an alleyway in Oslo Norway. She held her phone up to see that she had a reception. Her eyes twinkled with happiness as she sat down in the alleyway and started looking up the streaming website.
Nakialia manifested her spirit next to Saneko, her hands behind her back. Saneko turned the volume up and was lost in the mindless action of the series. Her mouth was agape the entire time and she didn't blink once.
After 20 minutes had passed and the episode concluded, Saneko stood up and put her phone in her pocket before stretching.
"Ah what an amazing episode! He defeated all the enemies in one blow, just as I expected from an amazingly written protagonist such as him."
"You acted like this episode was going to be life changing, but to me it just sounds like a pretty generic episode."
"You wouldn't understand N. The complexities and nuances of such immaculate writing would obviously be lost on you."
Nakialia pouted a bit. She didn't understand why she was friends with Saneko in the first place. She thought back to see why they talked so much in the past, and then it hit her. They shared a love for banana smoothies. Well, for Nakialia it was a love. For Saneko, it was an obsession. Saneko's obsessive personality didn't end at just one specific thing. If she liked something, she'd make sure to make it part of her personality.
"Well, can we go back to your house. I was hoping we could catch up a bit now."
"OH WAIT!"
Saneko's sudden scream scared Nakialia and caused her eyes to go wide as she flinched a bit.
"I forgot to check what people online are saying!"
Saneko once again pulled out her phone and unlocked it as she started looking up forums about the episode in question. When she arrived to a recent post about the episode she scrolled through the comments. Nakialia leaned in to see as well.
"Hmph. It's always the same with these online idiots. Calling it, 'trash' or 'junk food for the eyes'. How can't they see that the author had transcendent ideas far beyond their comprehensions?"
Saneko started typing a response to a comment angrily. Nakialia rolled her eyes, yet she found Saneko's personality endearing in a weird way. As Saneko sent her reply, she put her phone back in her pocket and turned to Nakialia with a confident smile.
"Alright. I'll go back home now!"
The two of them teleported away, back to her bedroom. Saneko took a seat on her bed and turned to Nakialia before thinking about something.
"Hey, I just realized this, but you died in 2019 right?"
"Yeah."
"They had clothes like t-shirts back in 2019?"
"Surprisingly yes. In the grand scheme of things, not a whole lot has changed since then."
"So humanity basically peaked back then?"
"I wouldn't say that. People in this time did figure out cultivation. That's pretty massive."
"I guess so."
"You know, we also had power fantasy anime back then too."
This revelation was extremely shocking to Saneko. Surely something that she deemed so amazing had to be a modern advancement in the human mind. There was no way such masterful writing was created by authors so many years ago.
"REALLY?"
"Yeah. You can rewind time right? You can check for yourself."
"No, it's okay. I believe you. It's just that it's shocking. The writers of old had such great ideas."
"Yeah... that's one way to put it."
Saneko then felt a vibration in her pocket. She pulled out her phone and saw that the person she replied to had replied back. The reply read, "I don't usually make fun of people's taste, but you have none if you like this slop." These words made rage course through Saneko's body. Nakialia had no clue what got Saneko so riled up, so she was confused.
"What's wrong Saneko?"
"WHO DOES THIS PATHETIC WORM THINK HE IS!"
"Ooooh. I get it."
Nakialia giggled to herself seeing Saneko's reaction. It gave her a sense of nostalgia from a time long forgotten.
"You know, we had arguments like this back in 2019 too."
Saneko was completely ignoring her at this point, typing another angry reply. She had gritted teeth and she was breathing heavily as she typed. She mumbled incoherent sentences as she did so. Once she had the reply ready, she once again teleported to Norway and used the cellular data to send the reply. She returned back to her bedroom, but within seconds, the other person replied with a simple, "Cope."
Saneko threw her phone on the ground as hard as possible, causing it to shatter into pieces. This sudden action left Nakialia frozen in fear. Saneko looked around, still breathing heavily. She stood up from the bed and walked up to her closet and pulled out her white dress shirt and put it on over her t-shit.
"What are you doing?"
"SHOWING SOMEONE WHO'S BOSS!"
Saneko, lost in anger, attempted to put on her dress pants over her sweatpants. As she hopped on one leg trying to fit them on, she fell to the floor with a loud thud, but this didn't stop her from putting them on. She then stood up and put on her suit and tie.
"Hey... uh... what's that white design on the tie mean?"
"IT JUST LOOKS COOL AS HELL!"
"Oh, okay. And what about that badge on the suit?"
"HOW SHOULD I KNOW? BUT IT ALSO LOOKS COOL AS HELL!"
With that, Saneko teleported away, leaving Nakialia behind once more. She rubbed her temple, not believing that Saneko really acted this way. At this rate, they'd never be able to talk.
Saneko appeared in a room behind the person who had sent those messages. He hadn't noticed her, so she took the opportunity to lean against the wall and calm her breathing. After getting prepared, she spoke in a low tone.
"Hey."
The voice startled the man. He turned around in his chair and fear washed over him as she saw a random demon-horned girl behind him.
"W..who the hell are you?"
"Oh, just your worst nightmare. Demon Babe."
Saneko was putting on the cocky front like usual, but deep down, something else entirely was on her mind.
"I just really hope my outfit looks as cool as I think it does right now."
As Saneko stepped closer, the man leaned against his desk frantically. He looked around a grabbed a screwdriver that was on his desk and held it out in front of him in a threatening manner.
"Don't take another step!"
Saneko smirked and stepped forward anyway, grabbing the screwdriver and snapping it in half with one hand. The man gasped, seeing his only form of defense be snapped before his eyes. Saneko snapped her fingers and the room turned into a white spatial abyss. The man froze and looked around. He thought he was in a nightmare, that none of this was even possible.
"You will like Silent Road. You WILL acknowledge it's masterful writing, or I will rip every finger off of your hands one-by-one, before stuffing them down your throat, you understand me?"
The man went pale and his legs trembled with fear. He could do nothing but nod, hoping that it was enough.
"Under the heavens all things will fall like humans, even the stars and the gods, but one thing is eternal, and that is me."
Saneko then disappeared, and the room went back to normal. The man was still frozen, unable to speak or utter a sound. He fell to the ground, his heart about to jump out of his chest.
When Saneko reappeared in her bedroom, Nakialia was still there waiting for her with an impatient look on her face.
"So, what happened?
"Well N. I think I've created the best catchphrase ever made."
