Chapter 43

As another boring day of school passed by slowly, Saneko tuned out pretty much everything the teacher said. She lazily rested her head on her fist as she stared out of the window, looking as if she was in a trance. She was quickly broken out of this trance-like state however, when the teacher said something very interesting.

"I feel like now is a good time to say this. It's highly recommended that each of you join at least one club this year. It's an excellent opportunity to discuss things with other classmates. We may be an academy for cultivation, but we are still a school, and we do want students to have social interaction."

Saneko normally would think about the irony in a cultivation academy not teaching cultivation, especially when Saneko's mom was upset with her for not knowing cultivation, but that wasn't on her mind right now. Instead, she was excited because around 90% of the anime she had seen that took place in a school had clubs in them that the main character would join. Other students in the class began chatting amongst themselves about what club they wanted to join.

Saneko thought to herself about what club she would want to join as well.

"What clubs are available anyway?"

Mrs. Gaud soon answered her question when she spoke up again.

"Oh, and you can make your own clubs. You just need four or more people to be in them for it to be registered. I'd highly appreciate it if the club had at least something to do with magic though."

Saneko automatically knew what club she wanted to create. She stood up and spoke as loud as possible, reaching her hand out heroically.

"Join the Demon Babe club and you will be blessed with eternal happiness!"

The class went silent for a few seconds as they turned to her, but they were used to her acting this way by now, so they almost immediately went back to chatting amongst themselves as if she had said nothing.

"Heh. They must be talking about how amazing of an idea I just had."

As the bell rang signaling the end of class, students rushed out, chattering excitedly about what club they would create or join. As Saneko walked over to the lunch room, she heard someone call out to her.

"Hey Saneko!"

"Hm?"

She turned around to see Katie waving to her with a smile on her face. Despite Saneko not being very excited about seeing Katie, she thought about how maybe Katie was calling her because she wanted to join the Demon Babe club. Saneko began to stride over to Katie, looking as confident as ever.

"A mortal has called out my name I see. I take it you wish to join my club. Well that is quite a smart decision, for my club will undoubtedly be the greatest."

"Huh? Oh, sorry. I wanted you to join my club. I already have Chloe and I was also planning to invite Mark from the student council too!"

Saneko turned away, not letting her speak for another second.

"Not interested."

"Aww... alright then..."

As Saneko continued walking away, Chloe walked up to Katie.

"Hey, why do you look so sad all of the sudden?"

"I asked Saneko to join, but she didn't want to. I guess I should have expected that. Well at least I have you, and if Mark joins, my club will have the two strongest students in the school. I honestly feel honored."

Saneko immediately turned back around and walked back up to Katie. She couldn't let Katie live her life not considering her to be the strongest.

"I have changed my mind, I will join."

"Huh? What made you change your mind?"

"Demon Babe does not need to explain herself."

"... That's a really weird name you call yourself."

Saneko ignored that last part. She didn't really care what the club was, she just couldn't let anyone besides herself be seen as the strongest in the class. She genuinely couldn't believe the students still refused to acknowledge everything she has done.

"How are they still acting this way? They saw me summon that massive beast, and they saw me defeat that monster in Brazil. Do they have brain worms or something? Whatever the case is, at least if I join a club I'll have an indefinite amount time to prove myself."

Saneko was being overly optimistic as always. Chloe had the same uneasy look on her face that she did the least time she saw Saneko. She leaned in to whispers into Katie's ear.

"Are you sure you want her to join the club?"

"Sure, why not? She was part of our group that one time."

Saneko crossed her arms and cleared her throat, getting their attentions.

"What is this club anyway? I doubt it is as good as my Demon Babe club idea, but I'm willing to hear you out."

"Oh... well I don't really know yet. I just wanted to start one with my friends."

Saneko gritted her teeth. She absolutely did not consider Katie her friend, but she had to tell herself to stay silent for the time being, as she was doing this for her reputation after all. Chloe turned to Katie. She always tried to be supportive, but even she knew that a friend club wasn't going to be good enough.

"Well I'm very happy you view me as a friend, but we should try to come up with a better gimmick don't you think?"

"Yeah, I guess you're right."

Saneko snickered to herself, knowing very well what gimmick she wanted.

Liam was walking by and saw that Saneko was actually talking to people, which was strange for her.

"What are you guys doing?"

Katie looked excited to see that someone else had appeared.

"I am trying to come up with a club idea, but I don't exactly know what to do."

"Oh, I see."

Liam didn't understand why Saneko would be interested in this. Saneko did catch the attention of people, although it wasn't in the way she usually wanted. Liam definitely knew of her abilities, but never thought she would willingly join a club. He was interested in it for that reason alone. Saneko's eyes narrowed though. With Purple Vision, she knew exactly what he was planning, but it didn't bother her all that much. It just made her more adamant about joining the club to prove herself.

"Well, mind if I join?"

"Of course you can join! We were also trying to get Mark to join as well."

"Oh, well I don't think the student council members can be part of any club."

"Oh really, that's a shame."

Katie was a bit disappointed, as she really wanted her club to consist of the same members her group did, but it didn't really matter too much. She looked over at a bulletin board that was on the wall and walked up to it. She pulled out her pencil and started writing on a paper that was on it. Chloe tilted her head, wondering what she was doing.

"Hey Katie, what are you writing?"

"This is the paper that has the club names on them. I was just writing my name on it."

"Oh okay, but I think we need to check with Mrs. Gaud first. You know, for our club to be accepted."

"Good point."

Katie put her pencil down and headed over the the classroom, waving for Chloe, Liam, and Saneko to follow her. When she walked up to the desk, she began to explain to Mrs. Gaud what she was planning to do.

"Excuse me Mrs. Gaud. I was just wanting to tell you that I wanted to make a club for myself."

"That's nice. What is your club about?"

"Oh... yeah, we never did get that far."

Chloe and Liam looked around, trying to think of what the best club activity should be. They didn't have much time to think though, because Saneko immediately spoke up.

"Demon Babe club! The greatest club the world has ever seen!"

Chloe and Liam looked at Saneko with aggravated expressions, but Katie just giggled to herself.

"You know what, I don't exactly know what that means, but let's just go with it."

Chloe and Liam didn't expect her to actually go along with it. Not even Mrs. Gaud thought she would.

"Wait, really? You're going to be called the Demon Babe club?"

"I guess so."

Saneko had the biggest smirk on her face. Mrs. Gaud had no choice but to accept it since they had four members.

"Alright, then I guess you are officially the Demon Babe club."

Katie clapped her hands together, her eyes sparkling with excitement. She didn't care that it was ridiculous, she just wanted to be part of club and talk to her classmates, which she rarely did.

"There is an empty classroom across the hall. I guess you could start in there if you want."

"Okay, thank you Mrs. Gaud!"

Chloe shrugged and went along with it. So did Liam, however, he was more focused on why Saneko even cared. She seemed like the last person who would want to join a club. He still refused to ask her though, as he knew he wouldn't get a straightforward answer.

Once the four of them had entered the empty classroom, they saw an ovular table with four seats surrounding it. It was almost too perfect for the situation. Saneko squealed in excitement in her mind.

"OH MY GOD! JUST LIKE AN ANIME CLUBROOM!"

She tried to keep her cool, but her mind was overwhelmed with how, pretty much everyday, her life was becoming more like an anime.

Katie took a seat, and was giddy with excitement, as she could finally spend time with other students in school. Chloe, Liam, and Saneko also took their seats, and of course, Saneko as always put her feet on the table and put her hands behind her head.

"This club better give me an opportunity to use my powers or I'll be pissed."

Katie then spoke up with an enthusiastic tone in her voice.

"I have an idea guys! Mrs. Gaud said we should talk about magic, so let's discuss our favorite powers."

Saneko started giggling like a maniac. It was all coming together perfectly.

Liam shrugged his shoulders. There wasn't anything else to do, and truthfully, he only joined because he wondered what could possibly be so exciting about a club to make Saneko join it.

"Sounds fine by me."

Chloe nodded in agreement.

"Yeah me too."

Katie immediately launched into an enthusiastic description of her love for water magic.

"Okay, I love water magic. I love manipulating water and stuff. It's so pretty! Sadly, I just haven't been able to do it that well. Still though, there's something about it that always catches my attention."

Chloe nodded as she listened to Katie speak.

"Cool! Can you show us any water abilities you have?"

"Sadly no. I'm a level 15 cultivator, which is pretty good, but I really can't do anything unless there is a body of water near me. If we ever find ourselves near a pond or something, I'd be happy to show you."

"Sounds like a great idea!"

"Thanks! And what is your favorite?"

"Hmm..."

Chloe put her finger to her chin and looked up, thinking to herself.

"I guess I really like telekinesis. I know, it's simple, but it's really useful."

"Good one! Sometimes the simple ones are the best. What about you Liam?"

"Eh? Well, I never really thought about it before. I don't really specialize in any sort of magic specifically, but I guess I kind of like how fire magic looks."

"Cool! I do too. I think a lot of people like fire magic. I don't blame them. You can do so much with it. What about you Saneko?"

Saneko was waiting for them to get to her. She spoke up in the most aggravatingly arrogant way possible

"All magic is trivial to me! But if I must show you a specific type of magic, allow me to give you an example."

Chloe and Liam sighed, knowing where this was going. Saneko stood up and reached her hand out to the sky as a gust of wind circled her, causing her suit to flutter. Seeing this caused the group to get a little interested, but they weren't holding their breaths, knowing her history.

"Any ability that is powerful is one that will make me smile, and this one will be beyond anything you have ever seen! A BLACK HOLE!"

Liam's eyes widened for a moment. For someone to create a black hole, they would need enough power to create an infinitely dense point in space, and nothing like that was even possible. Not to mention, a black hole by nature bends reality by moving faster than light, meaning the user would need to comprehend faster than light travel, which, even with cultivation being discovered, has never been done before.

The wind around Saneko grew stronger, but nothing appeared from Saneko's outstretched hand. Katie and Chloe also watched intently, not knowing what was going to happen. Saneko realized that she miscalculated a bit. Somewhere in the universe, hundreds of millions of lightyears away, a black hole manifested itself into reality thanks to Saneko's power. One powerful enough to consume entire galaxies within seconds. Sadly, no one here could see that. Saneko lowered her hand, but tried to play it off.

"You see, I just created a black hole, but unfortunately, it is too far away for you to see. It's for the best though. Mortal eyes wouldn't be able to comprehend it anyway."

Liam rolled his eyes and sat back in his chair. Chloe and Katie both looked at each other with unreadable expressions. Seeing that no one was believing her, Saneko grumbled to herself and left the clubroom.

"DAMN! EVERY TIME I MESS UP!"

She took a few breaths and remembered something that she hadn't thought about for a while.

"Well, at least I could still show off to the teacher when I turn in that one pushup project. WAIT... THE PROJECT!"

Saneko had forgotten to turn in her assignment. She ran to her locker and pulled out the paper before running to the HRS classroom. Seeing her enter surprised Mrs. Gaud, but before she could react, Saneko slammed the paper down onto her desk.

"HERE IS MY PUSHUP PROJECT!"

Mrs. Gaud gave Saneko an unamused look as she narrowed her eyes.

"It's overdue."

Saneko clenched her fists. She wanted to scream so badly, but knew that the sound of how loud her voice was might cause too much destruction. Instead, she continued grumbling to herself as she exited the classroom. Like always, she was thinking of new ways to successfully prove herself.
