Chapter 19

Mr. Sarakana and Mrs. Sarakana were watching the news early in the morning. There had been some conflicts between some nations, and these conflicts always seemed to make it to the news.

Saneko walked into the living room wearing her lazy clothes. She had just finished watching her favorite weekly power fantasy and heard the TV. She wondered what was going on, so she walked up behind the couch.

”Watcha watching?”

Mr. Sarakana turned around to see Saneko standing behind them.

”Oh hey. Just the news. Apparently there is a conference between some world leaders about some conflicts going on.”

Looking at the TV, Saneko grew jealous of the world leaders. They could casually gain fame and notoriety, and most of them weren’t even high ranking cultivators. Meanwhile, Saneko was well aware she had greater powers than them, yet could barely get a few people to believe in her.

”Damn presidents and kings. Everyone knows their names, and for what? Because they rule over some imaginary borders? Why can’t that be me?”

”Well just make your own country.”

Mr. Sarakna said that jokingly, but Mrs. Sarakana nudged him with her elbow, knowing that Saneko would take this as actual advice.

”THAT’S IT!”

Saneko teleported away, and her mom sighed with closed eyes.

”Why did you say that?”

”Hehe. My bad.”

He giggled nervously, knowing what he had just caused.

Saneko reappeared in her room and immediately opened her laptop. She searched up the question, “How to create a country?” The results were unsurprisingly not very helpful. She scrolled and scrolled, watching MeTube videos and going on Mikipedia. Her mind filed things perfectly, so after learning a bit too much about colonization, she had the bright idea to annex her house.

Walking back downstairs, Saneko looked over to her parents who were now at the dining table, scrolling on their phones.

”This is a country now.”

Her mom looked up from her phone.

”Really? Cool. No more taxes!”

Saneko looked around for a moment and realized nothing had changed.

”What now? Where is the popularity and the interviews and the possibility of war?”

”Well, to be fair, you don’t even have a flag.”

Hearing her mom say caused her eyes to widen in excitement. Saneko loved designing things. She loved the creative freedom to make the coolest design ever. She ran up to her room without saying another word. Mr. Sarakana looked up to see her running away.

”The flag is going to be absolute meaningless isn’t it?”

”I wouldn’t doubt it.”

When Saneko arrived back in her room, she paced around in circles, thinking about what design she should use.

”It has to have dark colors to represent the vigilante I am. But it should also have light colors so it stands out, showing everyone how Demon Babe stands above the rest!”

As Saneko paced around for a few more seconds, she came up with the perfect design. Her eyes turned orange and she drew a rectangle shape with her eyes. A rectangle of fabric appeared on the floor. Saneko’s eyes returned to purple and he got down and placed her hand on it. She possessed the ability to burn her thoughts onto items. She didn’t really use it much since most things she thought were cool were simple designs she could draw herself, but it was hard to draw on fabric like this.

The design appeared on the fabric, and she did not exaggerate when she said dark and light colors. The top half was black and the bottom half was white. In the middle was a grey star. Saneko proudly stepped away, admiring the flag.

”Perfect.”

She ran to the dining room holding the flag proudly.

”We are now an official country!”

Her mom placed her phone down and nodded. She was actually pretty interested in what Saneko was doing now even though she was originally against it.

”Nice! And what is the name of our country.”

Without hesitation, Saneko immediately answered with a smug expression

”Dying Star!”

Her dad laughed to himself a bit upon hearing the name.

”Sounds like an organization, not a country.”

”Perhaps to insolent mortals.”

”Okay okay. But what are the laws.”

Saneko froze in place for a few seconds. She clicked her tongue and ran to her room again. She ripped a page of paper from out of a notebook that was laying on her desk, before grabbing a pencil. She immediately began writing. She wrote intently with her face only a few inches away from the paper. She was taking this extremely seriously.

As she continued to write, she felt Nakialia’s presence again.

”I can feel you there.”

”I wasn’t even trying to sneak up on you.”

Nakialia walked up to Saneko and looked down at her paper.

”I just wanted to make sure you’re not erasing brains again. What are you writing anyway?”

”The Demon Babe constitution.”

”I don’t even know where to start with what you just said.”

Saneko finished writing and proudly lifted up the paper to read over it.

”Ah, it’s perfect. There only a few rules. Rule 1: You must worship Demon Babe or you will get the death penalty. Rule 2: Everyone must do an act of obeisance to a Demon Babe statue. Rule 3: Everyone is required to watch at least one anime with an overpowered character once a month. And finally, rule 4: Talking negatively about banana smoothies will get you exiled.”

”That is a dictatorship.”

”Not if the rules are objectively amazing.”

Nakialia was lost. She had missed quite a bit of information, so she didn’t exactly know what was going on.

”What’s this for anyway?”

”I’m annexing this house and starting my own country.”

”What? Don’t you know that if you do that the government can get mad at you.”

”So what? Every army on earth has less power than my pinky finger.”

”I hate how that’s true.”

Saneko sat back down and leaned back in her chair. She sighed contently. Nakialia, however, knew that this was never going to work in a million years.

”Saneko, this won’t work. If you want to make a country so bad, I can’t believe I’m saying this, but take unclaimed land.”

”Hm? I can do that?”

”Yeah, but no one will take you seriously. Not like they would either way, but still.”

Ignoring the last part of Nakialia’s statement, Saneko searched on her laptop for unclaimed land. She found results of an uninhabitable area of desert between Egypt and Sudan known as Bir Tawil, which remained unclaimed. She ran to her closet to put on her school uniform. She then grabbed her constitution and flag and teleported away without uttering a word. Nakialia wanted to be upset, but instead she just gave up.

”This is entirely my fault. I’ll take the blame for it this time.”

Saneko reappeared in the middle of the desert and shouted at the top of her lungs.

”I CLAIM THIS!”

Nakialia manifested herself next to Saneko. She had already gone this far, she might as well go farther.

”Saneko, this land doesn’t even fit the criteria of statehood. How can you be so smart yet so ignorant?”

Saneko stared at Nakialia with a blank expression.

”Criteria of statehood?”

”Yeah! You know, defined territory, permanent population, efficient government, and the ability to enter into diplomatic relations with other nations.”

”You really know all of this stuff?”

”Yeah. I’ve learned a lot of useless facts over a couple thousand years.”

”Well they won’t be useless anymore because you, my dear friend, are witnessing the birth of a new nation!”

”How so?”

Saneko spread her arms out wide and began shouting.

”This is my defined territory!”

”Alright, so what? That’s only one of the four.”

”Well, I’m the population.”

”No you’re not. You’ll go back home after this.”

Saneko put her hand to her chin. Nakialia made a good point. She was by no means permanent population. She then turned to Nakialia with a big grin.

”Will you live here forever?”

”NO! And plus, I’m dead! I don’t count as population.”

”Damn, you’re right.”

Saneko continued to think, the gears in her mind turning. She looked around the empty desert until she came to a realization.

”I know exactly what to do!”

She reached out her arm and some of the sand beneath her started to sink and be transformed into water. Nakialia gasped as she saw this.

”What are you doing?”

”What does it look like? I’m making this place inhabitable.”

Saneko’s eyes turned orange like they did before and tons of shapes of different materials began materializing. Nakialia looked around at the wood, metal, steel, concrete, and all of the other materials being created in seconds. She was overwhelmed by Saneko’s actions.

Saneko then of course began using telekinesis, causing all of these things to float and assemble themselves. She had her eyes closed and her hands were in her pant pockets. The wind from the moving materials caused her hair and clothes to flutter.

Within seconds, this barren no-man’s-land was transformed into a metropolis with towering skyscrapers and functioning electricity and sewer systems. Of course, there was also a giant statue of Saneko. Nakialia had seen Saneko do a lot of things, but this was just absurd.

”You’re a maniac sometimes, but even I’ll admit that this is freakin’ incredible.”

”Oh dear N, this is just the capital. I think I’ll call it Babeland”

”That has got to be the absolute worst name I have ever heard.”

Saneko looked around, feeling extremely proud of her creation.

”At last, this desert is inhabitable and I can have a population.”

”Well yeah, I guess, but there still needs to be an economy. Otherwise, no one will move here. Not to mention, it will be extremely suspicious to most people that a random city just appeared here.”

”Tell that to the people flooding in.”

Nakialia turned to see a bunch of people running towards them which shocked her, causing her take a few steps backwards.

”What the hell? Who are these people? How did they get here?”

”As you said, people would find it suspicious that a city was suddenly made here, and thanks to the fact cultivators can enhance their speed, they don’t have to wait around to check it out. They can come at any time, and rather quickly. I planned this all out from the beginning.”

”No, you just got lucky.”

The people flooded the streets. It was a very unexpected situation. Of course, most of these people were just here to check it out, but seeing how amazingly beautiful the city was would surely cause some to stay.

Saneko created a metal pole with her orange eyes and hooked her flag to it. Her eyes returned to purple and she placed the flag down.

”WELCOME TO DYING STAR!”

Many people in the crowd began to cheer. Saneko gave Nakialia a condescending smile. Holding up the constitution, Saneko felt like she had won.

”I have a territory, population, and government.”

”Y...yeah well so what? You still don’t have any diplomatic relations.”

A man suddenly walked up to Saneko, holding a paper in his hand. He was wearing a black suit and dress pants, and looked very important.

”Hello. I have just used speed magic to get here after seeing this amazing construction. Are you the president?”

Saneko stood tall and put her hands on her hips.

”Indeed I am.”

”I’m a diplomat from Canada and wanted to see if we could sign a memorandum of understanding between our two nations.”

Nakialia grabbed her hair in complete frustration.

”YOU’VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!”

Saneko smugly signed the paper, not really caring about what it meant.

”Thank you so much miss... umm... I apologize. I do not know your name.”

”You can simply refer to me as Demon Babe.”

“Of course Demon Babe.”

With that, the man left and Nakialia was on her hands and knees. She was bewildered and baffled at the turn of events.

”I shouldn’t have ever said anything.”

”As you can see, my powers are just far too great. I wonder what the international community is saying about Dying Star.”

She pulled out her phone and began typing. Nakialia stood up and furrowed her brow.

”How are you using your phone right now?”

”I created some 5G towers here as well.”

”I THOUGHT YOU COULDN’T CREATE WIFI!”

”Shush, I‘m researching something.”

”Well whatever. It’s not like anyone is going to recognize this joke of a country.”

Saneko put her phone in Nakialia’s face. There were headlines of India, China, and Ireland recognizing Dying Star. Nakialia almost had a stroke.

”SO QUICKLY? ISN’T THERE A PROCESS TO THIS?”

Saneko smiled and exhaled through her nose, finding humor in the situation. She scrolled through her phone again and clicked on a video before showing it to Nakialia.

”Take a look at this one N."

Nakialia reluctantly looked at the video. It was a video of Saneko shaking hands with the chairman at the United Nations.

"We are proud to announce that Dying Star has been added as the 194th member state in the UN general assembly.“

Nakialia’s mouth was wider than it has ever been before.

”WHEN DID YOU EVEN HAVE TIME TO DO THIS?”

”Clones.”

Sanko’s face was all over the news worldwide. Chloe, who just so happened to be watching the news, saw Saneko’s face on it, causing her to scream in terror.

Mr. Sarakana was still scrolling through his phone until he saw the news. He was pretty casual about it though.

”Did you here that Saneko successfully got her country into the UN?”

”Oh cool.”
