The day of Saneko's first day at Anetop Academy arrived quicker than she had hoped. The only redeeming factor about this whole situation was the stylish school uniform she got to wear. She walked to the kitchen, fully dressed in her uniform, and raised a finger. The doors of the pantry and refrigerator flew open, and the ingredients for a sandwich telekinetically assembled themselves.
The now fully constructed sandwich floated into Saneko's hand and she took a bite out of it. She walked to the door and shouted with her mouth full of food.
"Bye mom! I'm off!"
Suddenly, Mr. Sarakana ran out of the door in a panic which confused Saneko. Usually he was already at work, so she did not expect to see him.
"Crap! I'm late for work!"
With a sudden realization, he turned to Saneko with a bright smile. She already knew he was about to ask for her to teleport him to work due to her Purple Vision, but she was already irritated enough with having to attend a school for the first time, so she didn't feel like it.
"Before you can say anything, no! I'm not teleporting you to work!"
"Awwww. But it would be super cool if you did."
The words "super cool" rang through Saneko's ears. Suddenly she didn't feel as irritated as she did earlier.
"Well, I suppose I'll teleport you to work, but only because I'm feeling generous."
With that, she teleported him outside of the building he worked at, which was a warehouse. Due to Mr. Sarakana not being able to cultivate high level magic, he was stuck at a low level job, but it didn't actually bother him. The job paid enough for him to provide for his family, and he was easily satisfied.
"Okay dad, I'm off to school."
"Thank you for your help sweetie! Oh, and before you, I wanted to tell you to go easy on your classmates. I heard your mom enrolled you in an academy specifically for cultivation. I know you would easily blow everyone else out of the water, so just be careful not to kill them."
As her dad spoke, Saneko continued munching on her sandwich. She nodded along to his words. She fully intended to show off her powers. She could already imagine a crowd of students cheering at her amazing powers. Despite not wanting to attend an academy, this possible aspect honestly sounded amazing to her.
"Yeah yeah. I'll try. See ya."
"Have a good first day at school."
Saneko nodded once more and teleported back to the front yard of her house and finished her sandwich. With a soft sigh she started walking down the sidewalk. Her mom told her where the school was a few days ago, and since she had a perfect memory, she only needed the directions once.
At the courtyard of the school, the students were standing around, talking to each other about various topics. The sounds of their voices filled the air. In front of them was a podium with a microphone on it.
A specific student, a girl named Chloe Polrea, was talking to her longtime friend. She had long black hair, with green highlights. Her eyes a sapphire blue.
Over the years, Chloe had cultivated a lot of special skills, including one that not many people had, which was known as Soul Transfer. It allowed her to transfer her soul into the body of another being for one minute. While the ability had a very obvious time limit, it was also incredibly useful as it wasn't limited to just humans, but any living being with a brain. Using Reader, Chloe had a level of 15, comparable to a powerful tank.
"Are you going to sign up for the student council? I'm sure you'd get accepted immediately."
"Nah. I don't really like being relied upon like that. If I can help I will, but that's too much pressure, you know what I mean?"
"Oh I totally understand. Yeah, I agree, that would be a lot of pressure."
The principal of the academy, a bald man by the name of Mr. Contray, stepped on to the podium and tapped the microphone. The sound echoing through the crowd and grabbing everyone's attention. The loud chatter almost immediately ceased.
"Welcome new students of Anetop Academy! I hope you are having a fine morning. Everyone will be assigned to a class based on their Reader level. There is no shame if you rank low, that's what we are all about, teaching. However, if you do rank high, you will be put into a special class known as HRS, which stands for High Ranking Student. The HRS students will be learning more powerful abilities, while the lower ranking students will be taught the basics and will simply be assigned to random classes."

One boy raised his hand to ask a question, and the principal pointed towards him, acknowledging him.
"Yes?"
"What is considered a high ranking student?"
"Very good question. Here at Anetop Academy, we consider anyone with a level of 10 or higher to be an HRS.
"But I've heard of people being able to achieve level 50 and above. 10 doesn't sound that high."
"That is true, however, those people are an oddity, and usually are older. Those who rank that high most likely work at the Hero Foundation in Brussels and are in their mid twenties at the earliest. Not to say none of you can rank that high, but it is highly unlikely. We are teaching students here after all."
The students all began to exchange glances. Many students began to murmur about what the principal had just said. Their voices once again filling the air.
"I hope I can be an HRS."
"Reader has never been used on me before."
"I don't really know many abilities, so I doubt I'll get a high rating."
A woman stepped up to the podium and extended her index and middle fingers, placing them up to her face so that her eyes was in-between them. The principal looked over to her and introduced her to the students.
"This is the vice principal, Ms. Kay. She will use Reader on all of you at once to see who here has a level of 10 or higher."
Ms. Kay's eye flashed suddenly, and she could visualize everyone's level at that moment. She looked around to determine who had the higher levels. First was a boy named Mark Sion, a boy with short black hair, brown eyes, and a serious expression. He had a level of 11. Another was obviously Chloe Polrea. A third student named Kal Sinta, a stocky boy with ginger hair and hazel eyes. He had a level of exactly 10. The fourth and fifth were a girl and boy named Sana and Allan Kain, who were twins. They both had shorter brown hair with brown eyes to match. They also both had a level of 11.
Mr. Contray then wheeled in a TV on a cart that Ms. Kay put her hand on. She transferred some of her magic to the TV, and it started to display the results of who was an HRS, and what their level was.
Kal immediately perked up when he saw his name on the screen, not expecting to be an HRS.
"HOLY CRAP! I MADE IT!"
As Ms. Kay continued to name off the students with a level of 10 or higher, Saneko had finally arrived at the courtyard. She saw the other students lined up and the woman on the podium naming names.
"Wow, I'm late on my first day."
Saneko then let out a scoff and and grinned as she walked towards the crowd, both of her hands in her suit pockets, which was par for the course for her.
"Heh. Maybe if I play it off like I'm too cool for school, people will recognize my awesomeness."
She nonchalantly stepped up to the very back of the crowd, trying to look at suave as possible. A boy there turned to her and looked at her horns with a perplexed expression.
"Who are you?"
Saneko clicked her tongue and crossed her arms, looking away from him.
"What's it to ya."
"Geez alright. Rude."
"Ha! My identity is on a need-to-know basis, but since you're here I'll be tell you anyway. I'm someone who can grind you into a fine powder, and yeah, I'm late, so what? Who cares about any of this school stuff anyway am I right?"
Saneko's mind was racing with many thoughts about how cool she thought she was just then.
"Literally no one in the world is as awesome as I was just then."
Despite her own thoughts telling her that she was awesome, cool, and epic, the boy did not think the same way at all. He furrowed his brow looking at Saneko who still had her arms crossed, looking away from him.
"You just sound like a failure."
The boy then turned back to pay attention to what Ms. Kay was saying. The boy's words hit Saneko like a freight train. Her eyes widened and her jaw dropped from the absolute disrespect the boy gave her. She clinched her fist in pure rage. She raised her fist, and it started radiating with a familiar purplish black hue. Her eyes were filled with the intent to kill.
"Sorry dad. I know you said I shouldn't kill anyone, but he deserves it."
Just then Ms. Kay continued looking at every student, and her gaze met Saneko. The Reader ability said that her name was Saneko Sarakana, and her level was ERROR. Ms. Kay shook her head to see if her eyes had deceived her, but no, that's what Reader said. She starting to think about how this was even possible.
"What? This isn't technology. There shouldn't be errors."
The TV displayed the name "Saneko Sarakana" and a level of ERROR. The students all started murmuring to each other, not understanding what had just happened. Saneko, hearing the murmuring, lowered her fist and her eyes lit up with excitement as she saw the TV screen.
The principal walked up to the TV and examined it closely. He too was utterly confused by the situation, not understanding how this was possible. He looked up to Ms. Kay, who looked just as confused as him.
"Is this what Reader actually says?"
"Yeah. I... I don't know why."
"Who is Saneko?"
"I don't know."
"I AM!"
The entire crowd looked behind to see Saneko standing in the very back, with her arm raised confidently and a cocky smile on her face, showing off all of her teeth.
"I AM SANEKO SARAKANA! ALSO KNOWN AS DEMON BABE! MY POWER IS BEYOND YOUR IMAGINATIONS ENTIRELY!"
The crowd was completely silent. Of course, the students didn't think this girl was actually serious, neither did the principal or vice principal. They all thought she was either pulling some sort of prank, or was clinically insane. There was no way someone could have broke the Reader limit, but there was no proof to the contrary. Reader said that this was true, so who were they to simply wave it off like it was nothing. Ms. Kay began to whisper to Mr. Contray.
"We have to put her in the HRS class."
"But this is obviously a mistake."
"Yeah, but if we deny her, we might as well deny everyone. Just let it slide."
"Alright I see your point."
Ms. Kay then stepped up to the microphone and cleared her throat before continuing to name off students as if nothing had happened. The rest of the students shrugged it off and continued listening to see if their names would be called.
Saneko had the biggest grin on her face. She tucked her hand back into her suit pocket and started to think to herself again about how cool she was. She was absolutely giddy with excitement.
"I just did a main character thing!"
