Saneko slouched in her desk, doodling in her notebook as the bell signaling the end of 1st period rang. Well, for her, a doodle was a hyper-realistic image of the 4th dimension, but that's neither here nor there. Students around her began getting up from their seats and walking out of the class. Noticing this, Saneko closed her notebook and was about to stand up, but she was stopped when Katie suddenly walked up to her, waving excitedly.
"Hey Neko-Neko. Chloe and Liam are in the club room and I was hoping you would come too!"
Saneko froze, her eyes narrowing in frustration.
"What did you just call me?"
"Oh, I just came up with that nickname.
"Well it sounds ridiculous and childish. The great Demon Babe shouldn't have a nickname was dumb as that."
Katie's eyes welled up with tears, and she nodded frantically. She always wanted to be nice to people, and she never thought that Saneko would be offended by something as simple as a nickname.
"I'm so sorry, Saneko. It won't happen again, I promise!"
Saneko then put her notebook in her desk and stood up, scratching her head a bit, thinking about if she should go to the clubroom or not.
"Good. Anyway, I suppose I will grace the mortals in the club with my presence. Only because it is named after me of course."
Katie's face lit up with relief.
"Cool! Come on, let's go!"
She turned around and started heading over to the clubroom happily. Saneko followed. Last time she was at the clubroom, she messed up when trying to show off her powers which left a bitter taste in her mouth. Despite that, she never gave up when it came to trying to prove herself.
Once they made it to the clubroom, Katie opened the door. Chloe was reading a book and Liam was scrolling on his phone, but both of them looked up to see Katie smiling and letting Saneko enter.
"Look who I found!"
Chloe got the same uneasy feeling she always got, and Liam rolled his eyes
"Oh great, here we go again..."
Ignoring that less-than-enthusiastic reaction, Saneko strode confidently to one of the seats and plopped down in the chair. She leaned back, propping her feet up on the table, and looked around the group with what she thought was an aloof stare.
"Alright, mortals, enlighten me. What pitiful activities have you come up with so far?"
Liam rubbed his temples at Saneko's attitude. He spoke up through gritted teeth in a very aggravated tone.
"We didn't come up with anything, because how the hell are we supposed to come up with something that makes sense for the Demon Babe club?"
"Ah well it's quite simple. You just have to be an enthusiast of the greatest being to ever walk this planet."
"I regret joining this club already."
Katie also sat down and tried to diffuse the tension. She hated arguments and was a very big people-pleaser.
"Guys, please calm down. Fighting won't solve anything."
Chloe spoke up to side with Katie. She too was a people-pleaser, although, it was mainly for her reputation.
"Katie is right. Just calm down you two."
Saneko scoffed and waved her hand dismissively.
"If you really want an idea, we will be the Demon King Appreciation Society! I, of course, will play the role of the Demon King, and you all can be my loyal subjects."
Chloe and Liam unsurprisingly did not have positive reactions to this idea. Chloe looked away, and Liam let his head fall against the table, completely exhausted by Saneko's repetitive antics. Katie giggled to herself nervously. She absolutely hated seeing people look so upset.
"Um, that's an... interesting idea, Saneko. But maybe we should consider something a bit more... inclusive? Something everyone can participate in equally?"
"Nonsense! What could be more inclusive than serving under my benevolent rule? But very well, if you insist on being difficult, I shall demonstrate why I am the obvious choice to lead this club!"
With that, Saneko started to climb onto the table, scattering papers and pens that were there as everyone looked up at her. Automatically knowing that she was about to do something stupid, Liam immediately spoke up.
"Get off of the table. I'm not going to listen to another one of your delusions."
"Delusions? Ha! You witnessed my power firsthand at the basketball game not too long ago."
"Yeah, so what? I don't care. Just get off of the table."
"A mere mortal such as yourself can't tell me what to do."
In her mind, Saneko assumed that her tone of superiority would leave Chloe and Katie rooting for her.
"I know they thought I was so cool just then."
Chloe and Katie were looking up at her, not taking her seriously at all, but Saneko was ignorant of this. Clearing her throat, Katie began to speak softly, hoping to distract Saneko and Liam.
"Guys, please listen. What if we make our club about mythology. It sort of fits with the Demon Babe title, because of well, demons. It's also something I feel like is kind of interesting."
Saneko knew very well that Katie simply thought about something random on the spot to get her to stop arguing with Liam. She could tell with Purple Vision. However, Liam started actually considering the idea of mythology related activities, as did Chloe. Realizing that her thunder had been stolen, Saneko got off of the table and sat in her seat, grumbling to herself. Liam knew that mythology was probably the closest thing to whatever the Demon Babe club meant, so going with that idea wasn't so bad.
"Mythology huh? Well it sounds interesting, but what exactly would we do?"
Katie hadn't thought that far and began to get nervous, stuttering to herself while trying to come up with an idea.
The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.
"Umm... well... maybe we could... I don't know... come up with our own mythology or something."
Saneko's irritated face immediately disappeared, and she started giggling with a smirk on her face. Liam's face contorted with anger upon seeing this.
"I have an idea."
"NO! WE AREN'T DOING DEMON BABE MYTHOLOGY!"
"... Insolent mortal."
Chloe tried to ignore the two of them as much as she could. She turned to Katie and started wondering how exactly a mythology club would work.
"Making our own mythology sounds fun, but remember, we should at least try to incorporate some sort of magic into it like Mrs. Gaud said."
"Yeah, I was thinking we could use our knowledge of cultivation and magic and apply it to our mythology. It's kind of a good idea right?"
"Yeah, I guess that could work."
Katie smiled and stood up, going over to a counter and trying to find a blank piece of paper to write on. Once she found one, she made her way back to her seat.
"So what creatures should we add?"
Saneko began to smirk again, and just like the last time, Liam immediately snapped at her before she could say anything.
"NO!"
Saneko scoffed and shook her head. She tried to look unaffected, but she was secretly thinking to herself about how adamant Liam was to shut her plans down, and how upset that made her.
"Why is this idiot making it so hard?"
Chloe started to think about different possible themes and ideas to implement into their mythology. She scooted her chair closer to Katie's.
"How about we start with the cultivation system? That is probably the most important aspect, considering were in a cultivation school."
"Yeah, good idea! Should we also add beasts and monsters?"
"Yeah probably. Those things exist in our reality, so adding them would make sense."
Katie nodded with a smile and put her pencil to the paper, writing the details. Liam, who was still aggravated by Saneko's antics, looked over to them and shook his head.
"You are forgetting the most important part. Mythology has a lot to do with gods and stuff. That should be your priority when writing this."
"Oh true. I don't know too much about gods though."
"Well, it's our mythology. We can do whatever we want. We don't necessarily need too much knowledge of preexisting mythologies."
"I guess you're right."
Chloe then spoke up, voicing her own ideas.
"What if we made it so that the world was dictated by prophesies that the gods had commanded?"
"Okay sure. We can all collaborate on this together and give our own ideas!"
Katie kept writing on the paper, adding all of their ideas.
"I think the mythology should be a pantheon personally. With the supreme deity being an all-encompassing beast that watches over creation. What do you think about that Chloe?"
"It sounds like you're going for a cosmic horror sort of vibe. I like that."
"Thank you! And like I said, we can all collaborate on this, so don't be afraid to share ideas."
Saneko smugly smiled and nodded.
"Which means I can add whatever I want as well."
With a facepalm, Liam couldn't help himself from arguing back.
"You'll just add yourself into the mythology or something and make yourself the strongest."
"Well, that wouldn't be a lie now would it?"
"You're powerful, but you're by no means the strongest!"
"HA! Blind mortal. I could destroy and recreate the vast universe on a whim if I wished it."
"Oh my god. I can't stand your arrogance! You're not some all-encompassing creature like what Katie wants anyway. Your idea contradicts the story as it is. And of course, this is assuming you are actually as strong as you say, which I know you're not."
"Oh, I am far more powerful than you could even imagine. And who's to say I am not an all encompassing being?"
"If you were, you wouldn't be sitting in front of me!"
"This could simply be a corporeal avatar for all you know!"
Liam grabbed his face in anger. There was no arguing with Saneko. It was like talking to a brick wall. Or more accurately, a wall made of tungsten steel. Saneko truly didn't see herself as arrogant though. Since she was well aware of her own power, in her mind, she was just simply stating facts. Because of this, she couldn't help but think that she won the argument.
"EEEEH! I MADE HIM STOP TALKING! THAT MEANS I WIN! I MEAN I ALWAYS WIN ANYWAY, BUT STILL!"
Katie and Chloe glanced at each other, seeing that Saneko and Liam were by no means getting along in the slightest.
"I hope those two can get along. I don't want our club to be fighting all of the time."
"Don't worry Katie. It'll be fine. Let's just keep writing our mythology alright."
"Okay. Well, I was thinking that we could add The Ocean as well. I want this mythology to be loosely based on our own world."
"That sounds like a great idea! The Ocean is practically a mythological structure as it is, so I think it'll fit well. I'm sure Mrs. Gaud will also give us extra points for showing our knowledge of our own world."
"Yeah exactly!"
As Katie began writing all of this down, Saneko looked over at them when she processed what they were talking about. She thought about how weird it was for The Ocean to be brought up so randomly.
"What the hell? I just learned about The Ocean from the shaman, and now they are talking about it. Is this some sort of frequency illusion or something?"
Chloe and Katie kept discussing various aspects of the mythology they were writing. Liam didn't really have much to say, so he just sat back in his seat with his arms crossed. While Saneko was very tempted to shout out a bunch of her ideas to add herself into the mythology somehow, she had a better idea. She just needed to wait for a bit.
"What other thing should we add Chloe?"
"Hmm. Well let's see... Let's make it so that the pantheon is a council that judges cultivators on how good they are."
"How good they are?"
"Yeah, like if they used their powers for good or for evil."
"Oh I see. And adding on to that, I think that the gods should all have factions of cultivators that believe in one of them specifically."
"I like that! So what are the names of the gods?"
"I don't know yet. Let me first write down everything we just said."
With that, Katie wrote down the ideas she and Chloe just had. Liam then spoke up again.
"You know, a mythology is more than just the aspects of the world. You have to make stories too. World building is really important."
Katie stopped writing and put a finger to her chin, thinking about what Liam had just said.
"That is true. I guess tomorrow we can start writing the actual stories. Today, I was just focusing on the world."
"Alright. Makes sense. Where will it take place?"
Katie hadn't thought about that either. She turned over to Chloe to see if she had any ideas. Chloe didn't realize that Katie was expecting her to give an idea, so she just sat there for a few seconds before she realized that.
"Oh! Me? Well, umm. How about we just have it take place in Cintianta?"
"Good idea! Mrs. Gaud might like it if we have it take place in our city."
Saneko was tapping her foot against the floor, waiting impatiently for them to finish writing. She knew exactly what she wanted to do, but it had to wait until they were done. Thankfully, Katie seemed to have enough ideas by this point to feel content.
"Okay. I think we have enough for today. We can start naming the gods and writing the story tomorrow like I said."
Upon hearing that Katie was finally done, Saneko stood up from her seat and pointed to her dramatically.
"Now, I shall show you the world you created!"
The group just looked at her. Chloe was a bit frightened, Katie was confused, and Liam was unsurprisingly disgruntled. Saneko laughed loudly, knowing that this time, there was no way they could deny her powers.
"I will send you all into the world you have written on that piece of paper with just a snap of a finger. Prepare to be amazed!"
Saneko snapped her fingers, fully expecting the world to change, but absolutely nothing happened. Saneko snapped her fingers again, but still, the world didn't change. Her mind was in a state of panic at this point.
"CRAP! WHY WON'T IT WORK?"
Getting up from his chair, Liam began to leave the room.
"I expected just as much. I'm leaving guys."
Katie and Chloe waved bye and also stood up.
"I should get going too. See you later Katie."
"Yeah me too. See you Chloe."
The two of them also left, leaving Saneko in the room by herself, looking like a complete fool. She was stunned, and unable to speak for a few seconds. However, she slowly started to get angrier before clenching her fists and yelling.
"DAMMIT! WHY THE HELL DOES THIS ALWAYS HAPPEN?"
Saneko's plan was to embed the group into the world they created, but due to it being fictional, instead of going into the world itself, she created the entire world in an alternative timeline. Essentially, she brought the fictional world into reality instead of doing the opposite.
In the world she had created, the pantheon of gods, who now existed in reality, sat in a council together. Each god looked remarkably like Saneko, however they all had different colored hair. Yellow, red, orange, pink, green, etc. The Saneko with red hair spoke up to the council.
"So it seems that we have just been created by sort of all-encompassing being."
The rest of the pantheon starter murmuring to themselves. The red haired Saneko raised her hand and asked the question all of them were thinking.
"So wait. What do we do now?"
"I don't know... We wait I guess."
"For what?"
"For the story to be completed."
The yellow haired Saneko found this a bit odd. They had their own free will now, so why wait for the Earthly mythology to dictate their lives.
"We can make our own decisions though. Why wait until the story is completed?"
"I misspoke. I meant we wait for this chapter to end. It's getting a bit too long."
"Oh yeah, that makes sense."
