Kal spent a few hours in the nurse's office after his fight with Saneko. He had bandages around his head and was sitting on a bed, looking disappointed in himself. Beside him were Allan and Luke, also sitting on beds and bandaged up. He felt like a failure. Even these other students next to him at least got to fight fairly, but he was disqualified.
"Damn that girl! If she didn't catch me off guard, I would have surely gotten a good rank."
Hearing Kal mumble to himself, Allan turned over to look at him to see what was wrong.
"Who were you up against."
"Just the girl with the horns."
"She beat you?"
"I was caught off guard."
"Still though, you losing is pretty surprising. Aren't you in the student council?"
Kal didn't know how to respond. He knew it was odd for him to lose regardless of if he was caught off guard or not, but he didn't see any other possible explanation. In his mind, Saneko was just a delusional girl. To be fair, he was right, but regardless, he underestimated her just as most people did. Allan looked away and began to shift in the bed. He saw that Kal was getting uncomfortable talking about this, so he decided to change the subject.
"You know, I was also thinking about joining the student council."
Hearing this, Kal tried to forget about his fight with Saneko and focus on remembering Allan's fight with Cynthia.
"I'm sure you'd be accepted. You really held your own against Cynthia. I mean, sure, she's a weaker student in our class, but it was impressive nonetheless."
"Thanks. I'm just worried Sana won't let me join. She's really overprotective."
"Well why don't you just join together? I'm sure she's strong too. She is your sister after all."
Allan immediately remembered how he had been in this nurse's office for a while and hadn't witnessed his sister's fight. Like Kal said, she was definitely strong and would probably win, but he felt bad he couldn't be there to see it.
"Yeah, she's strong. I wish I could see her fight."
Kal saw the disappointment in Allan's face. He felt bad for him, but the nurse had told them earlier to not leave the office until the tournament had concluded.
The door to the office started opening, and Mrs. Gaud stepped in. Kal, Allan, and Luke did not expect to see her enter. They had lost track of time and assumed that the tournament was still going.
"Hello. Mr. Contray has informed me that the tournament has just concluded. If you are feeling better, you can return to the HRS class."
Kal looked at Allan. Both of them felt better and thought they were in good enough shape to go back to class. Luke, however, looked extremely groggy. Mark had dealt a very powerful blow to him, even if it was a simple action. He clearly wasn't in good enough shape to return to class. Kal stood up from his bed and started walking towards Mrs. Gaud.
"Yeah, I think I'm good."
Allan also got out of bed and followed Kal.
"Me too. Don't know about Luke though.
Mrs. Gaud looked past the two of them to see Luke sitting there, half-asleep.
"Luke should stay a few more hours. Alright, come with me to class."
As the three of them walked down the hallway to the HRS class, Kal started to think about something. If the tournament had been going on, was he seriously the last person to get sent to the nurse's office?
"Excuse me Mrs. Gaud, but why was no one else sent to the nurse's office."
"The other students held their ground very well. None of them got seriously injured and were able to return to their seats, or so Mr. Contray told me."
This made Kal feel even worse. How was he, a student council member, one of only three people to be sent to the nurse. It made him feel inadequate, especially considering he lost to Saneko of all people. Allan noticed Kal sulking, but he had another question on his mind.
"Who came in first."
"I'm not aware of the rankings yet. Mr. Contray has sent the information to my computer, so we'll see in class.”
"Oh okay."
The three of them entered class to see all of the other students waiting there already. Kal felt extremely embarrassed to be seen with the bandages on his head. He looked to the ground, not making eye contact with anyone. He took his seat next to Mark, and Mark could see his discomfort. Patting his back, Mark attempted to comfort him.

"Dude, don't look so down. You were just caught off guard like the principal said. I know how strong you are, so don't worry."
Mark's words weren't enough to cheer Kal up. He felt totally defeated, more so than he ever had.
Mrs. Gaud turned on her computer and powered on the projector. A list of names appeared on it with the higher names starting with higher numbers. There was also a list of the time taken to win each match next to each person's name. Mrs. Gaud pointed to the top name on the list, which was Chloe, with a #1 next to her name.
"It's not really a shock, but Chloe came in an easy first, blowing everyone else out of the water, winning each round in only 5-7 seconds."
The class gave Chloe a round of applause. Mark nodded as they did so, remembering that the final match had been him against her. Even with his overwhelming power, he stood no chance against her.
"The second and third place spots go to Mark and Liam."
The class had expected Mark, but it was shock to see Liam getting in third place. During the tournament, most people didn't really know him for much besides his dyed hair, but seeing that he could actually stand his ground and fight against the top ranking cultivators in the class shocked them.
"Those were the top three. I will let everyone look at the board now to see where you placed."
The students who had not been named stood up and walked up to the board, analyzing it to see where they placed and how much time it took them to win their battles, if they did win one that is. Kal inspected the board closely, but didn't see his name anywhere.
"Mrs. Gaud, I don't see my name anywhere."
"I apologize. I wasn't there to see what went down, but I was told you were disqualified."
Kal felt his heart sink. He thought that being disqualified from the tournament would still allow him to be placed on the list, but now he was worried that he would be kicked out of the HRS class, or worse, the student council.
"Am I kicked out of the class?"
"Oh no no no. Don't worry about that. You weren't disqualified for cheating, so there would be no reason for us to kick you out of the class."
Kal felt a wave of relief wash over him. His dream was to become a hero one day, just like the ones from the Hero Foundation, and getting kicked out would have essentially shattered his dreams entirely. He then remembered Saneko. In his mind, Saneko definitely cheated.
"What about Saneko then? She was who I was up against."
"Yeah, I was surprised to hear that she beat you. Apparently she 'caught you off guard', but either way, Mr. Contray insisted that Saneko hadn't cheated. She simply took an opportunity. A bad one, but an opportunity nonetheless."
Chloe was also feeling relieved as she overheard their conversation. She was horrified that Saneko being disqualified would have led to her removal from the class. She turned around to see Saneko's seat, but she wasn't there. Chloe had no clue where she ran off to. Apparently Kal was thinking the same thing, because he asked Mrs. Gaud a similar question.
"Where is Saneko by the way?"
"Oh, I have no clue."
Chloe automatically jumped to the worst case scenario in her head.
"What if she was so mad she got disqualified that she left and went on a murderous rampage? What if she is planning to destroy the world right now?"
Chloe was panicking, but the actual situation was far less urgent. During one of the fights, which was Liam vs Sana, Sana revealed that she had cultivated a new ability recently that allowed her to harness great winds. She started blasting winds at Liam, and although they didn't phase him all too much, the doors to the gym that lead outside swung open from the wind. As the doors swung open, a black cat with yellow eyes perked up and froze in shock. Saneko who had her hand resting on her cheek also perked up when she saw the cat.
"KITTY!"
Saneko had always loved cats from a very young age, although, they usually were afraid of her horns and swatted at them which would cause Saneko to get irritated. Still though, her love for cats remained strong despite her irritation. She chuckled to herself seeing the cat through the swinging doors. With all of the other students distracted by the fight and the winds, Saneko took his opportunity to secretly abandon the class.
"Invisibility time."
Saneko's body went invisible and she stood up from her seat, casually walking down the staircase with no one noticing her. In truth, no one would have probably noticed her leaving anyway. When she left the building, she saw the cat staring at the swinging doors intently. While Saneko loved cats, she had another love, which was scaring animals. She got her face right up to the cat's face and made herself visible again. The sight of Saneko's face and huge smile right in front of the cat caused it to go hysterical and run away. The sight was enough to make Saneko bust a gut laughing.
She laughed so hard it felt like her stomach started hurting. She wiped a tear from her eyes, noticing that the cat was long gone, although, she could still feel it, meaning it must still be within a ten mile radius. Actually, this didn't matter as Saneko could use a form of clairvoyance to find pretty much anything as long as she at least knew what it looked like. She closed her eyes and saw the cat running away in the nearby woods. Saneko teleported to it and grabbed it, holding it up in the air victoriously.
"HAHAHA! THE KITTY IS MINE!"
The cat was horrified. It swung its paws at the air in a futile attempt to escape. Saneko turned the cat around so it was facing her and gave it a smug smile.
"No running. You are mine. I'm taking you home."
She turned around and started walking home. The cat hissed and swiped at Saneko's face, but its nails were immediately filed from Saneko's durable skin as it swiped down on her face. The cat stared at its filed nails in disbelief. Saneko just giggled to herself. She just loved cats so much.
When she returned home, her mom was watching MeTube on her phone. The sound of the door opening caused her to look up, and seeing Saneko she smiled at her.
"Hello sweetie. You are home early. Did something happen?"
Saneko held the cat in front of herself to show her mom.
"Kitty."
"Oh dear Saneko. You know we can't afford to own a pet.
"I'll feed it, I promise!"
"You swear?"
"YES!"
With a deep sigh, Mrs. Sarakana conceded.
"Alright. I'll trust you."
Saneko made a silly giggling sound as she ran to her room. At that moment, she forgot about being a cool main character because this cat was way too cute. The cat, however, was no longer scared, and instead was extremely pissed.
Saneko made it to her room and closed the door, holding the cat up to look at it.
"Hmm, what should I name you."
Looking it up and down, Saneko thought of what she considered to be a perfect name.
"I know! I'll call you Dyinglight. After all, all things under the heavens all things will fall like humans. Even the light."
Saneko suddenly felt a spiritual presence near her. It had to be Nakialia. She had the perfect plan and ran to her chair. Once Nakialia manifested herself into Saneko's room, she spoke with an enthusiastic tone in her voice.
"Hello Saneko! I just wanted to... uh..."
She stopped when she saw Saneko sitting in her chair, her backed turned to her. Saneko began to speak in a very patronizing tone.
"Well well well. If it isn't N."
She turned around in her chair, one leg crossed over the other as she was petting the very uncomfortable looking cat. Nakialia stared at her with a deadpan expression. It baffled her how Saneko could not see how cliché this was.
