Vol 3 Ch 31: Exam II

Vol 3 Ch 31: Exam II

2 weeks passed and I got used to fighting as a Misha. It also took a while to get used to this body. I didn’t notice much when I used [Transform] during my Witchaven infiltration but I’m a 9t fox after all. Agnès Oures is slowly starting to match the proportions of Hisui.

I sighed. Most immortal species stop physically aging at around 22 or 23 years old. I’m apparently a late bloomer as most of my 9t traits are locking in quite late, as a male and female. I wondered why my mother didn’t had a figure like that. Maybe because she was more in tune with her phoenix side.

It’s good that I have clothing from Jarn. My charm magic is also growing and relatively uncontrollable. It reminds me of how Hisui could never control it. I will have to apologize to Hisui…

Never mind that’s a very bad idea, either way controlling this is hard. Nilah is sucking up charm energy and making it harmless.

It was fun to tease my male students like this though. Hayley and I teamed up and made them go crazy. But I also made sure that they could focus on their upcoming exam.

It was almost time for Francis’ exam.

He adjusted his glasses. “So, you’re going to fight me as a witch? You do realize I have seen you fight like this before?”

That’s the point, I won’t have to be afraid to severely hurt you because you know what is going to happen if you mess up.

I had made my staff a bit more flashy and functional in the last 2 weeks. It had a sharp tip at the bottom and resembled a club on the top, so throwing it would make it act like a spear and swinging it would make it act more like a club. The Misha were being uncreative in when they said ‘Use your catalyst’

They just use it to boost magic spells that’s all. All the students were watching. Teppei also seemed interested. Besides that, Raishin and Greg were here too.

Gogo hottie! Beat him up!

You do know that it’s me right Raishin? And this is an exam! The goal isn’t to beat him up!

I don’t care! A hot chick is a hot chick!

I sighed. Similar rules as last exam, get some hits in on me or get some good disruption in and you pass. I will be casting like a normal Mis… witch so you should be fine.

Francis nodded and summoned 2 [Arcane Sheep] and 2 [Arcane Rams]. He would use the sheep for defence and the rams for offence. He was a hard-working student but unfortunately, he wasn’t blessed with any affinities. Magic wise he’s the weakest of the whole group but he makes up for it by hard work and his intelligence. I have only seen him lose twice since I know him.

I started with a simple [Fireball] and while it was sloppy it got turned into a useless blob of fire that almost dropped on my toe. I looked at the pathetic wisp of fire on the floor. A ram rushed at me and I used [Hattrick]. He tried to mess with it but this skill is extremely complicated and scrambled. For a good reason. This skill is supposed to help Misha stay alive.

I teleported to another hat and the hat that got left behind fried the ram that tried to ram me.

I sighed. I miss Ted.

The other hat started laying down [Fire Traps] and Francis messed with some of them. 4 out of the 7 [Fire Traps] had become useless. I’m sure he remembered where the other 3 traps were. He sent 2 sheep out to trigger the traps. As far as I care he has already passed. But let’s see if I can get more out of him.

I let my catalyst create a dummy magic circle of a [Flare] while I really casted [Fireball]. He couldn’t manage to interrupt the [Flare] but he got surprised when a [Fireball] shot out.

I teleported to another hat and swung my staff like a club. He blocked it with an [Arcane Barrier].

He adjusted his glasses. “Are you sure that witches fight like this?”

Nope, but maybe they should.

The barrier exploded and I took some damage. I did not see that coming. I wanted to announce that he had passed but he seemed ready for more because another ram came at me. I guess the previous exam stated that I should get hit 3 times.

I used [Staff Throw] and impaled the ram. Both his offensive rams are gone.

He was a bit close to my staff so I used [Explode] and the staff exploded. He got blasted away but managed to protect himself with an [Arcane Sheep] at the last moment. He still took some damage from that.

I walked over to my staff and picked it up. He mustered a lot of mana and used 4 [Arcane Rams], He sent 2 in for a pincer attack. I teleported to another hat and my [Fireball] got interrupted. Another [Staff Throw] which he evaded. Unfortunately, he dodged into the only [Fire Trap] that was left. One ram was camping near my hat, another ram was camping near the other hat while the other 2 went after me.

I didn’t have my staff and I would get rammed the moment I teleport. I used a [Flame cloak] and incinerated a ram and got grazed by the other ram. Francis didn’t seem to be rejoicing. He was full focus. He ran at me covering himself with [Arcane barriers]. The other ram was harassing me. I dove out of the way and tried to get my staff but he blocked my path with an [Arcane barrier].

That was wonderful. I got rammed and sent flying into the [Arcane Barrier].

Oof that hurt. I dusted myself off.

“Are you alright?” Francis stretched out his hand and helped me up.

Yeah, don’t worry, I might look like a witch but I’m a bit tougher than one. You pass.

Francis made a subtle fist pump. He became the center of attention while I cleaned up the area by dispelling some illusion layers and returning the field back to its old state.

It was interesting seeing you fight like that.

Well, it is quite static even if I move a lot. I dispelled [Hattrick] and went back to owning 1 hat.

Are you going to fight like this also in that tournament?

Well, I was just messing around here, nobody is going to get as many opportunities as Francis just had. They are going to get their faces melted off if they’re not careful hehe.

Is using fire really a good idea? It’s a tournament, not a slaughterhouse…

I have to be convincing as a witch though.

As long as you don’t kill anyone.

The students started practicing again so I could slack.

Raishin was flirting with Hayley but she had to practice now so he came over to me. That was a cool fight, too bad you lost though…

Did you forget the reason why he...she had that fight in the first place?

To show that nobody messes with her even in his sexy from? Greg and I facepalmed.

Anyways, thanks for watching. Also, Raishin I had heard that you have been slacking and that Teppei has planned extra spear lessons for you.

Ugh, that wrinkled piece of paper needs to chill. He is way too OP!

I stepped aside to dodge a slash that was aimed at Raishin.

“I heard that you brat! At least Agnis has put in a lot of effort in his lessons! You however!” Raishin ran away and Teppei chased him down.

Unfortunately, I can’t come and see the results of the exam but I’m sure most of your students will be fine.

Raishin and Teppei had exited the scene as did Greg. It was just battle sounds.

Francis sat down next to me and adjusted his glasses. “That was quite intensive. You did go easy on me did you?”

The fact that I moved so much means I didn’t hold back a lot. I held a bit back on the firepower but your win is completely yours as that was the level I need you to be at, congratulations on being the first to pass my exam.

This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road. If you spot it on Amazon, please report it.

We looked at how the students were attempting to lock each other down. I saw a very nasty group. Crissy had teamed up with Mo and Hayley. Mo was an Unstoppable Beast before he had mastered the skills that would befit a Silver Torrent. Crissy had focused more on raw fire power over the last half year and also being disruptive so she was more a Crimson Eagle and Silver Torrent combined. Hayley had worked on her offensive buffs and just like everyone here she’s also disruptive.

Mo is the absolute master of this group though. I don’t see anyway how another group of 3 can handle them. They are destroying the other groups of 3. They got cocky and fought a group of 6 and won quite easily. Is it cocky if they can actually win that easily?

Mo has a big build but that’s very deceptive. He is quite fast and tanky. So, if you manage to hit him, he won’t take much damage. He is just a juggernaut. I think I can see how a lot of opponents are going to look down on this team and it’s going to destroy them. It looks like a heavy guy trying to block every attack while the 2 chicks will try to defeat the opponents before the big guy drops.

That’s how it’s going to look but the big guy is actually the biggest threat. I’m sure this was Crissy’s idea. Also… Mo is very skilled in ice skating. Crissy had gotten better in manipulating temperature. She can do hot and cold now. Crissy had asked me tips about applying cold. I had suggested my [Frozen Ground], slipping opponents and freezing their butts to the ground and making ice ramps.

She doesn’t have a water affinity so the amount of ice she can create is dependent on the moisture in the air. She can’t manipulate the volume of this moisture so she is even more limited in creating ice than water users are.

This is how they beat the 6 they fought against. Mo got the nickname Ice-skating Mo, because he was absolutely everywhere, their opponents were too busy to make sure they don’t slip and most Mo had to do was just skate into them and send them flying. Hayley just kept buffing Mo so he was in many ways unstoppable.

“Hey, Agnis, can you show us to deal with that monster trio there?” A student asked me the impossible.

Well beating them up is easy but it won’t be helpful to you guys.

“We still want to see!” The sore losers wanted to see the overperformers lose.

Hey do you guys mind getting your ass kicked for a bit?

“We won’t lose easily! Be careful Mo!” Crissy became wary.

“This is going to hurt, is it? Hayley, do you have more buffs?”

“Buffs to knock him out? I’m sorry Mo, let’s just try to survive as long as possible.”

I’ll do my best to not injure you.

The students cheered thinking they could learn anything. If I fight on the level of the students I will most certainly lose.

You guys are not going to like this.

The battle started

Crissy used [Frozen Ground] with her ‘fire’ magic and Mo started to skate around. I planted my staff in the ground and reached my hands to the sky. The sky started to light up. Everyone looked up and looked at the [Meteor] in horror.

This was an illusion of course and the 3 who were distracted weren’t paying much attention to me so I skated over, clubbed and knocked out Hayley, launched Mo with an [Ice pillar], froze his pants to the floor after he landed and pointed the tip of my staff at Crissy’s neck.

“What the…”

A distraction. If I can convince you that something wild or unexpected is happening, I can abuse the gap in concentration and capitalize on it.

“So that [Meteor]?”

The [Meteor] dropped but I removed the illusion and just a single snowflake fell down.

Crissy caught the snowflake. “A snowflake?”

Cool, eh?

“My butt is cold, I concede, can you free me?” I released Mo.

Just remember, use everything in your power to disrupt your opponent, distractions or other stuff are all valid. As long as it works it’s not wrong.

“Did you have to knock out Hayley though?” We looked at Hayley who was passed out on the floor.

Nope, but that’s an occupational hazard. Go rest up and stop terrorizing your fellow students, you’re breaking their confidence.

2 of the monster trio took Hayley and went to relax and the rest started to become more creative in their ways.

Teaching is so exhausting. I’m glad that this is done after the exam.

----------------------------------------

The day came. Teppei had fixed the teleports and all other things I should have done but I had successfully mixed in with the students so it looked like Teppei was the only professor.

“Where the fuck is Agnis?”

The passive that I had adjusted seems to be working. I’m successfully unrecognizable within crowds. Even though I was wearing a large hat, he looked over me several times before he spotted me.

“Why is it so hard to identify you in this group?”

Dunno, you must be getting really old. I ducked a bit and his sword clanged to my hat and he got pushed back a bit.

“What the… You are not a real witch! There is no reason for your hat to also be indestructible!”

Tough luck for you old man, this hat is the same as my sword.

“Huh?”

I didn’t expect this ancient relic to understand.

The group spread out. Those who would do 6v6 would go to their part of this huge building which contained multiple arenas. Those that did 3v3 went to their part and I was the only one doing solo’s.

I had already spread some shadow clones out so they could spectate my students. I arrived at my destination after 20 minutes as this place is massive. I confirmed my presence with the staff and I got a small tablet which showed me which fights would be going on and when I would be up.

I won’t be up for a while so I used [Shadow Swap] with the clone who was the closest to the 3v3 group. It seems the monster trio would be up.

These assholes were laughing at Mo. Their opponent was looking down on them. Crissy flashed a malicious smile.

The battle started and Crissy used [Frozen Ground]. Mo started skating and instantly rammed into their Golden Angel. Hayley started buffing Mo who kept up his relentless assault. The Golden Angel tried to get up but Crissy had frozen his pants to the floor. The others tried to help the Golden Angel but Hayley and Crissy kept disrupting their casts. Crissy went in with a [Flare]. They had their hands full with Hayley and Crissy and Mo were unleashing attacks on the Golden Angel. Any attempt to heal himself got either interrupted or he got knocked around so he was unable to do anything meaningful.

Mo knocked him out mercilessly and started skating to the 2 other guys who were struggling against the girls. They finally got something off but Mo body blocked it and was unscathed. It didn’t take long for them to knock the others out too.

Teppei couldn’t believe what he was seeing. “What have you done to my students… you’ve turned them into monsters…”

Cool eh? Nobody will be able to do anything against them unless they come with complicated magic or strategies. They are good noob stompers. And when someone with a bit more depth appears that’s when they can show off other stuff they’ve learned from your boring uni.

I blocked a sword strike with my hat.

“It is not boring! It’s educational and professional!”

Maybe as a headmaster who sips tea all day in his office. I blocked more strikes with my hat and also had to evade some attacks.

“Look it’s Randy and his group!” This group had Randy, Brunette and midget. Randy was also an Unstoppable Beast but his fighting style was quite different from Mo. Midget was a Golden Angel and Brunette was a Hawkeye.

Brunettes shots were boxing the opponents in so that Randy had an easy time kicking their asses. The opponents were trying to focus the Midget down but she was in charge of interrupting spells. Going for the healer is always the best idea. Unfortunately for them, they will have to hit her, which is exactly something my students are good at avoiding. Even though Randy was putting in a lot of work, it was the brunette who had knocked out all the opponents.

Most fights of my students were quite similar. Even my worst students had a relatively easy time winning.

I could watch 1 6v6 and then it was my turn. I found Francis watching. How are they doing.

Someone adjusted his glasses. “I am wondering if they have become much stronger or that this is just the effect of shutting down the opponent. Most battles I’ve seen had my peers win quite easily.”

Well as I like to say. If you shut down their basic functions like casting spells or moving, they will have to spend more energy dong such leaving less energy and concentration for offence.

“So, by increasing the difficulty of basic actions, the difficulty of everything else will increase? That’s interesting, I have never thought about it.”

That’s fine. Because even by not realizing that they can get wins in quite easily.

My students had only 1 person get knocked out but by that time they had already turned the fight into a 5v3.

He had fumbled on purpose. The opponent was desperate to knock at least 1 person out. The opponents were getting close to knock out the Silent Night of the student group. This guy was responsible for most of the control effects and he was a huge thorn in the side of the opponents. This guy sacrificed himself and drew attention toward himself to save the Silent Night. It was a good decision. All these guys have been getting closer since the fight in the dungeon.

“This makes me wish I had joined a group too.”

Well, you have already passed but you could aways act as a substitute when someone wants to rest or sit out for a bit. Anyways my match is up soon.

I walked to the 1v1 area and I saw a lot of students gather.

Uhh guys it’s just a 1v1 go prepare for your next battles. I got bullshit excuses like watching me is preparing for their match
