Vol 2 Ch 52: Millennial Foxbite

Io was well-behaved today. No strange stunts, obedient and focused. We paid for the hotel and she carried me to Daggerfall. Only Hugo was back but I didn't talk to him. I went back to the workshop but couldn't get anything done. Thalia is a nice chick but I would hit a problem Io painfully described. She would die of old age before I know it. I will stop physically aging after the age of 22-23 while she will continue to age. She places a high value on beauty and this is certainly going to hurt her a lot even if she will never mention it.

I leaned backward on my chair and almost fell backward multiple times. No matter how hot or nice the chick is I’m just not compatible with humans. I've demonstrated that time and time again. Io is another problem. Esher hasn't returned yet. We need someone to keep Io in check. I've known her for almost 2 months now and I can't do it, I just thought that this assassin thing would be relatively easy because I'm already quite decent at it but she is adding 14 layers of difficulty to this. I slapped my cheeks.

Enough thinking about chicks! This made me lose balance and I fell backward. I climbed up my chair and sat down.

I had 5 poisons of which 1 I was immune to and was making the antidote of. I could decide to start gaining immunity to another basic poison or attempt and make something fancy, gain immunity to that, and then mess around with it.

But 30 days is a long time… is there any way I can make a poison I’m already immune to?

I kept walking around and thinking about it for 2 days when I got an idea. Can’t I make a poison out of my fur or blood? If it's based off my body, I should be immune to it, right? I'm a mythical beast so this should somewhat make sense. I extracted some blood and did tests on it to check if it was poisonous. It seemed to be quite different from human blood but it wasn't poisonous.

I had to read several books about blood and how this differs between species which took me 2 more days. I was an expert on blood now! Kinda. Obviously, there's no info on 9t blood but it might have similar properties to our close relative the normal fox beast kin which went extinct shortly after the Great Eraser… Only 1 book had limited info on it but apparently, it has a de-aging effect … are you serious? No wonder they got hunted down and went extinct… we just keep adding to reasons why we’re going extinct.

Dragon blood and phoenix blood does something similar but it's more that it could grant immortality. Wait I’m a phoenix too… I looked at the vial of my blood and I got terrified. This is going to make people younger and immortal? I’m so dead if this is known… The dragon blood could cause some effects depending on its type. An earth dragon will make the body tough and a fire dragon's blood could make you more proficient and immune to fire. The blood of a phoenix will cleanse the body and completely heal the body when ingested. Large quantities needed to be ingested for this. The blood of most mythical and legendary beings is regarded as elixirs.

Terror and disgust overcame me as I archived everything and burnt the book to ashes. The world doesn't need this. So, I can't use my blood as a poison it will just make them immortal… Thalia flashed through my mind. I put the thought aside. If I could reverse the effect and cause it to make the immortal into a mortal and kill them by aging them. Ooh, that sounds useful! Maybe it could work on a god. I first took a sip of my own blood and inspected myself to see what happened. 1 day went by and nothing happened, 2 days went by and nothing happened. I guess this is to be expected. Nothing indicated that I would live longer than normal. Which makes sense because I can't die of old age.

I had read 2 books that talked about reversing the effects of medicine and poisons because those are linked. A medicine can become a poison and vice versa. Another was more like what I needed. It didn't talk about blood but to reverse the effect of phoenix fire. It can heal when applied to wounds but this lunatic tried to reverse it and create flames that caused something akin to [Spite]. I appreciated this lunacy because I could benefit from being able to inflict [Spite]. It didn't recommend any of this because there wasn't a lot of research on the process because the base materials were rare.

I don't have this problem so I will continue your lunacy and legacy!

I cooked something up after 5 days and tested it on a clear frog and waited. It was still healthy after an hour. Don’t tell me… I dripped 1 drop of my strongest poison on it. This should kill the frog in 1 minute and 12 seconds. 2 minutes passed and the frogger was fine. I took out another frog and used the same poison and he croaked after 1 minute and 11 seconds. Great I made a frog immortal… I don’t know the extent of this immortality.

I put the frog in a separate pocket dimension, placed a shadow clone inside, and sped up time to see how long he would live. These frogs get 5 years old at most and this frog is around 2 years old. I made sure this dimension had something like the perfect habitat for him, clear water, a nice jungle, big tasty bugs and more. I got something better the day after and tested this on another clear frog.

This frogger also didn't croak. I poisoned this frog like I did with the previous one and he was still alive and kicking. This frog also went to the immortality chamber. The immortality chamber, as I named the space for immortal frogs, counted 34 individuals a week later. Was I missing something? The first immortal frog I put inside was getting close to 34 years old. It started to show signs of aging though. I did archive the recipes and processes of these ‘Immortality’ potions. I took a break and observed the frogs. The first frog died after getting to the age of 43. He was huge, like 1.5m tall. It seemed content with its inevitable demise because this habitat was perfect for him.

Same with the other frogs. The oldest frog reached a whopping 57 years old. This was quite scary to see. I made my tails make a mechanism that casts powerful illusions when I lose blood to disable these properties.

So, the best or worst potion depending on the perspective stretched the lifespan to over 11 times the original is this frog specific or did it just add years and it’s not a ratio? I didn't feel like going outside so I sent some shadow clones to catch some animals and monsters that had longer lifespans. They returned with a funny-looking rat that could reach 60 years old and some lizards ranging from 12-32 years. I used the best potion on them.

After enough time passed by, I discovered that the years get added. The rat got to about 111 years old this seemed consistent between all the different species I found. I guess this potion wasn't as crazy as I thought. 11x the lifespan is insane, adding 50 ish years a bit less. I realized that it was 50 years for just 1 drop… the oldest lizard got 84 years with 1 drop. I picked up another lizard of the same race. It seemed quite young. I gave him 10 drops and put him in the modified immortality room. And as expected this guy got to 539 years old.

He almost looked like a dragon.

Right, I go out to make a poison and I ended up making something stupid. I decided to never use this unless absolutely necessary. Most of my friends are immortal anyways so it doesn't have much value to me.

Day 63, a clear frog finally died. There was one problem though. I wanted to kill it by rapidly speeding up its aging and it turning to dust but this one got younger and younger and then poofed out of existence, I think. I didn't see it turning into an egg. I still had an old lizard that was in its early 400’s so I used it on him and kept my Elgards eyes on it.

It just got 50 years younger, another drop 51 years. I kept going till it was a young lizard of 6 years old. I see why my mom found it important to separate us from the main floor… this is just ridiculous. The problem is that this isn't going to work on my target. I don't know how old these gods are but I don't think I can dunk them in a pool of this shit. What if they're a million years old? I don't have enough stuff for that!

I started to think about my life choices, will I get tempted to use this for evil? Certainly, but how much collateral can I do with this? De-aging could be used to give nice people that had a rough life another chance but I'm not nice enough to just hand this out to anyone even if I like them. I destroyed all of my samples. Increasing lifespan though is something I think I should keep.

I destroyed the shitty samples I had stored. I remade some to have more control over this. 1 year, 10 years, and 100 years per drop. I chucked them in my dimensional pocket and sealed them away so I wouldn't use them on a whim. I could possibly become the most influential person on the continent now. But I’m not interested, and this is what I meant when talking with Thalia. The immortal species would have had an easy time taking over if they wanted to or if they could.

I could become even richer by selling these things, Io could burn down half the continent before something strong enough would appear to give her trouble. If the elves were serious, they could reclaim a lot of land and turn it into forests. Greg could go full 3t mode during the night and banish anyone that's within range. Raishin could… just nuke a whole country. I continued trying to make this stupid poison and I finally got the result I wanted. The frog aged rapidly and turned into dust only 32 seconds after the droplet hit him. I tested this out on other species and the same happened. I added 400 years to a lizard with some leftover of the lifespan potion and used my new poison. He only aged by 100 years. I worked for 23 days to make it age something by a millennium. I was about to test this out when Esher appeared.

“Whoa what have you been cooking? And it smells strange in here, why does it smell like this place got hit by a rainstorm?” I didn't have anything I didn't want him to see so I just told him I've spent the last 2 months trying to create a new poison. “That's some dedication. Is this going to be your special poison or are you going to share its recipe?” Uhh, it will be personal but I will be auctioning a vial once per 2 months as I can only make 2 vials per 2 months unfortunately, it will be suitable for extreme 'oh shit' situations since it’s very potent. I will show a demonstration once I finalize it. I also have some things I need to discuss with you.

“Ok cool, don’t poison yourself, you could use some ventilation!” He left the workshop while breathing through his sleeve. I inspected myself and my age hasn't changed, does this mean I’m immune to its effects? I hopped into a pocket dimension and tested the poison on my shadow clone. Nothing happened. I covered myself in 9 layers of illusions and looked at the vial. I know exactly how this poison works; I know exactly what its ingredients are. I should be able to undo it if it does anything.

I downed the vial and waited, and waited. If it would have an effect it should've worked by now. I put a time dilation on myself and made 3 days pass inside. I only got 3 days older. I’m immune. I got out and only several seconds passed in the real world. Now how would I test this for the assassins in Silent Night. I need to use it on a troublesome creature. I stepped outside the Silent Night for the first time in 2 months. Ugh, the sun is so bright!

“You truly became a creature of the shadows.” Esher said with a smile on his face.

Heh, I'm a better assassin than you now! One drop of this poison could kill all of you!

He faced a group of assassins. “We’ll see about that, a giant lightning armadillo is terrorizing the next village to the northwest anyone care to lure it here so Agnis can demonstrate his poison?

“Oooh! Pick me!” A dragon waved wildly, trying to draw attention.

“Go for it Io.” Io dashed off and the interested assassins moved to the north-western part of Daggerfall. Say, Esher, what’s the plan with Io? I explained what happened in Saluk.

“Ugh, yeah, we’ve been trying to find a mentor for her, preferably a very patient one or a dragon mentor. It has been hard to track one down. As long as she doesn't do something like that again…” A fire dragon flew over and dropped the Giant Lightning armadillo. See what I mean? Io landed and turned back to her human form, butt naked of course.

“Right… I see what you mean. Let's deal with this after you show off your poison.” This has no antidote so whoever wins this in the auction, if you get poisoned by this, you're fucked. I carefully coated a dagger in the poison.

“What's the name of your new poison?” Uhm, let's see, how about Millennial Foxbite? I connected to the leyline currents and charged my feet with purple lightning and kicked the poison-coated dagger at the Giant Lightning Armadillo. It didn't penetrate deep into its hide but that wasn't a problem. The poison took effect 45 seconds later and it crumbled to dust.

“Whoa!” the assassins seemed impressed.

“Oh, that poison smells like you! Fresh rain!” Io said while sniffing around. As I said there is no antidote so that happens when you poison yourself. It can poison on touch so I would suggest augmenting your hands or wearing protective gear when handling it. I sat down on the ground and put a 5 ml vial on the ground.

Let the auction start! The assassins that weren't confident didn't bother but those skilled in handling poisons went crazy.

23 silver to the guy with the red hood! He seemed quite happy and collected his prize. I grabbed his arm. Remember, it has no antidote, what happened to that armadillo will happen to you if it touches your skin. He nodded and I let him go.

“So why doesn't this have an antidote?” Esher seemed to have scolded Io while I was auctioning the poison. 1 drop ages you by a millennium and turns you into dust.

“Ah yeah it would be hard to get immunity to that, it sure is a strange effect for a poison, I can see how it took you over 2 months to make.” I nodded. I don't think I will make any more specialized poisons this was too tiring and intensive. Poison isn't really my style but it’s nice to have as an option.

“Yeah, you don't really need a lot of types if you have one as strong as that one…” I agreed. I guess I can close that poison chapter. I will only create poisons to then gain immunity against them. I just realized this but fighting other assassins without several poison resistances could really screw you over. It’s a miracle that I haven't been poisoned badly in the past.

----------------------------------------

I got a mission a week later. I was to assassinate an aristocrat living in Saluk. I got the details.

Main offense: human trafficking. I recognized the image as the fat rich guy that I met at the auction house. Many attempts have been made to get rid of him legally but there was no point to those methods when he could just throw gold around and be a free man. I took my time going to Saluk because there was no time limit on this. It was just preferred that he got disposed of before he would attempt something again.

I briefly hopped by Vinny’s place but he didn't seem to be home so I went to Saluk. It had been a bit over 2 months since I was last in Saluk. I remembered that I still had the frozen duck in my dimensional pocket. I need to take care to not forget about any important things. I will go throw this duck in the seal of the rest of that Dimsha later. The shard has similar properties to the Dimsha so having it near the seals should instantly seal this too. I was walking around on the market when I realized that I had no clue where to find this guy.

“Hey! You there! Want some free meat?” I looked at where the voice was coming from and it was the meat guy. He still remembered me but it seems his setup got some upgrades. Not just a bit. Don't worry I will pay.

“Nono not this time my friend! You have helped me so much I want to at least pay you back a bit, look here.” He had an enormous fancy meat cart. He pulled a drawer and the inside was cooled with magic. He pulled out some extremely expensive-looking high-quality meat. He handed me 5 pieces. Wait, this looks expensive I can't just accept this.

“Ohh yes, you can, just take it! My business has boomed since I was able to purchase this cart. I have 5 people working under me now and soon we will be able to open a real shop! I always dreamed of having my own shop! A wonderful alluring woman even helped me out becoming better at handling money! She seemed to be an acquaintance of yours” I will take this then, thank the sexy lady for me when you see her again.

“Come see me whenever you visit Saluk!” I stored this high-quality meat in my dimensional pocket. I guess I had some positive effect on this place after all. It was time to visit the mansion of the 2 dudes and possibly rob them clean again. It seems they were building an extra wing to their mansion. I got in quite easily as I walked up to the entrance causing the owners to spot me and let me in.

“Ahh you're back my friend! What brings you here? You must have heard that we got quite the amount of money selling a Hourai ruby, you must be even richer now!” Hmm? You didn't get all of the money?

“Haha, so funny this guy! Everyone knows that whenever a Hourai ruby gets sold, 10% of it goes to you! Maybe Yttroz Industries hasn't told you yet because it seems you’re not 18 years yet! Aren't you curious how much richer you would get when you turn 18?” Whud?

“I think it's a standard thing that they put in the contracts; the Yttroz Industries doesn't like their important sources of materials to fade into oblivion after they do business. I wish I could be that generous but I just love money too much hahahaha!” Bald guy said while laughing loudly.

“You might be able to ask around we hired some of their guys to build the rest of the mansion!” I think I’ll pass… Are you guys familiar with the person named Dominique Swolefield?

“Oh, that fatass?! How does one get fat in the desert hahahahaha!” Turban guy was also laughng loudly. I do agree that it was a bit funny.

“Hahaha! Yeah, we know him, he lives in the big purple house behind the auction house. The one with the huge balcony. There is a rumor he uses it to spy on Thalia’s house, everyone knows how hot she is. The best we could do is to get her to dance here… we’re not rich enough to win her heart…” Right, thanks, is there anything I can do for you since you made this worthwhile?

“Uhm, yes but I don't know if we should ask you this.” the 2 dudes looked at each other. “Well, it’s fine if you decline but you’re a water magic user right, we kind of ehh have a water problem in our bath section.” No problem, you guys are probably seeing me as a rich guy and I get it but that's not how I think, I’m an adventurer at heart so I will take a look.

“Shit, he's rich and cool, hey Sayid we need to step up our game, Thalia is an adventurer too maybe if we become one…” Achmedi said while rubbing his hands.

“Ohh, we could try that! But let’s first show him to the bath area.” Oh no need, I've seen mansions similar to this one I know where to find it thank you, if you are trying adventuring, I would suggest that you think of what kind of role you want to fill. And advice. Don't go looking like that, try to look and act like regular citizens, only use your money when you really need to.

“Hmm true, if you don't know him you would think he’s just a normal guy but secretly he’s rich.” Bald guy petted his beard.

“Do you think that is what the chicks like?”

“They must be!” Right, you guys work that out I will go check the bathhouse.

I went down and headed toward the bath area. But not before stealing some more stuff. They had replaced everything I stole and I stole them again. They are not going to expect that a rich guy stole from them. Some illusions got left behind which will disappear on random days.

I opened the first door and nobody was inside. Nothing was wrong with this bath either. The next one seemed to have people so I skipped it. I went to the corridor and opened another door. Some guys were changing and I closed the door quickly. I went into another bath and had no water problems. I think I needed to go to the corridor here or to the next bath but I don't remember how I got through this place teh last time. I walked around for 15 minutes and concluded that I was lost. There were supposed to be 5 bigger baths here but I haven't reached one yet. I thought I had this; this can't be that hard! I spent another hour being lost and got tired of it and teleported outside. That's when I spotted a hole in the wall and river water was flowing in. I notified a Yttroz Industries worker about the hole and he said he would fix it.

Mission completed! Now to assassinate the fatty. I sneaked into his house. He was on the Teleroad with someone. I hid in his house till nightfall. His house smelled a bit weird and sour, it smelled like old milk and it was nauseating. I circulated nature energy to not give myself away by vomiting. Is this his anti-assassination strategy?

He finally went to bed. I dipped my finger in Millennial Foxbite and flicked a droplet on him and left. I licked my finger. It indeed smells like fresh rainfall. Coating my dagger with this poison would use up 1 ml, so it has 5 uses when doing this but a droplet was only 1/20th of a ml. I confirmed that he turned into dust and left and sat on a rooftop and looked at the night sky. No full moon this time. I got hit by a sandy breeze, coughed and spat out some sand.

I hate this place. I returned to Daggerfall.
