Gregory looked at me as if he was looking at a mythical creature. Wait he actually is. “Finally stepping outside, eh? We’re glad that you're doing great work as our blacksmith but getting fresh air is important too!” Well, I will do some more custom and village commissions and then I will be attempting to make some things that I wanted to create for a long time and I might have to hunt for some special materials. So, I would suggest that you guys create a list of items that are urgent. I will get to them once I get back from Gittrian.
“Hey, you should look up what ‘rest’ and ‘holiday’ means, don't overwork yourself!” I will consider it!
I connected with the air leyline currents. Nilah jumped on my head and I used [Water Dragon Dance] and started to pull the boats and then started to speed down the river with [Waterfall]. I was bolder this time because I have full control. With this speed, I can reach Gittrian in 1 day. I helped the boats going downstream and started to get annoyed in carefully passing these slow boats so I switched to [Water Dragon Festival] and just kidnapped every boat I encountered and pulled them to Gittrian. I let them go when I saw the gate so that they could pre-sort. I completed the procedures and headed toward the Yttroz Industries Headquarters. I casually walked into the normal guest entrance and I got dragged to the VIP section.
“We will continue dragging you into the VIP section.” And I will continue sneaking into the normal area, where is Jerry or Barusu?
“They are busy or not here, Jeremiah told me to not bother introducing myself since you will either forget my name or give me a different name, follow me I will lead you to the client. She was quite surprised that her commission got completed so swiftly.” Oh… I had the feeling I was taking my sweet time; some things were a bit hard to get done. I got led to a room and a woman with long blond curly hair was sitting on a fancy couch. She had hair drills. She looked like a super-rich aristocrat.
“Annabella, this is the blacksmith that completed your commission.”
“Ohh, what a young and handsome man, my name is Annabella Rosierie.” She showed me the back of her hand and I shook her hand. She seemed surprised and the guy that brought me here had a strange reaction. “Oh, and who is this cute creature?” That is Nilah, she will steal your mana if you pet her so be warned. She didn't care, petted Nilah, and got some of her mana stolen.
Right, there are some things about this sword that you should know. I unwrapped it and showed the sword while in the hilt.
“Oh, that’s gorgeous!” I took the sword out and showed it. “It looks like a normal sword, although a bit unique…” When you send mana through it this happens. The parts separated and I swung it around like a whip. The random guy ducked away but I knew what I was doing.
It is not exactly a whip but as you can see you can choose what to hit and what not to hit by changing the distance between the parts, it takes some time to get used to but its dependent on the amount of mana you put into it. And when you stop feeding it mana. I stopped feeding it mana and it returned to its original state.
It returns back to normal. I had to apply some barriers to it to get this effect, it can get to a maximum length of 10 meters. It will be fine in environments that disable or suck up mana it will not be as sturdy in its sword state though, as long as you do nothing super crazy it would still be fine. And the whip state will be unavailable if you run out of mana obviously. Here see how it feels. I sheathed the sword and handed it over. She took it out, looked at it and swung it. She seemed content with its weight. She poured mana in it and I evaded a sword whip part.
“O apologies, It looked so easy when you showed it, this is harder than I thought.” The random guy dove to the floor as this chick tried to control the sword whip but was struggling. She stopped the mana flow and apologized again. “I love it! It's better than I imagined!” I got an uncomfortable hug. I'm glad that you like it.
“So how much are you asking for it?” Uh, 50 silver will do.
“Hey hold up Agnis, tha…”
“Unacceptable! You must have worked extremely hard to make this wonderful weapon! There is no way it could be this cheap!” No, really It wasn't that bad, and I’m not hurting for mon…
“So humble! I wish more aristocrats were like you!” No, listen…
“How about 4 gold? I think that's a fair price, I won't go lower than that!” Uhhm.
“Look Agnis, commissions are something special, not everyone can get their commissions to get through so the quality that gets brought out will also be high to compensate, I am an appraiser by trade and I can see this item is of high quality and unique. The minimum price of commissions is 1 gold but Miss Annabella is correct in her assessment 4 gold is a fair price.” Ah sorry, I'm out of touch with how all this works.
The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
“Yes, that's exactly why Jeremiah sent me to handle this. Also, I would suggest you trademark your works it will make things easier for everyone.” Ah right, show me that for a bit. Annabelle handed me the sword. I took out the sword and heated up my fingertips and made a symbol that looked like a S and T that were made out of waves.
Since I don't want more problems getting attached to my name I will be using my adventurer name Silver Torrent.
“Nice to meet you, Mr. Silver Torrent,” Likewise. The appraiser handled the payment and the woman left happily with her new weapon.
“Well, that’s how it goes, as you get busier it might be less feasible to meet your clients face to face but whenever you can please do so. It might be good to see what impact your works do. I guess.
“Well, you surely work fast, most commissions can take up a month or even 2 to complete. Jeremiah did say that logic doesn't apply to you though…” I will take that into consideration, how did you know I would be here early though?
“Well, we noticed something coming down the river at a very high speed, it wasn't hard to figure out who that was.” I guess I was standing out again. Nilah was eating all the cookies on the table. What a glutton. I picked her up and suddenly got a lot of mana sent to me. And with a lot, I mean enough to turn me into an icicle under normal circumstances but this seemed to be fine. The more time I spend with Nilah the less I know what she is. I went well over the maximum amount of mana that I can hold and I'm perfectly fine. I petted Nilah and put her on my head and left. The appraiser guy was holding some long-winded monologue. So, these custom weapons are that expensive, eh? I guess I will just leave the appraisers to decide how much these things are worth.
I walked to the streets of Gittrian and realized how bad I am at imitating humans. I have no idea about how long it takes to travel anywhere because I'm fast and I don't know how much things are supposed to cost because I'm rich. Is this the power of humans? Do they know this stuff because they are broke, slow, and weak?
But Barusu is a dwarf, he probably is limited in a similar way. Would I think differently if I was poor? I can't imagine myself being poor, I could do some missions or craft tools and sell them or worst case steal them. I guess I could never pretend to be a convincing human in the long run. I see why my mom took everyone and created Hourai, trying to coexist is difficult, we will get discovered one day, some might accept us others won't. People still seemed to be interested in Nilah but there were fewer people approaching me to pet her. I decided to avoid the park this time. I went to visit the famous city block Aurum. It was impressive to see how they constructed the buildings out of a soft metal like gold. They had strange shapes to accommodate this.
People actually lived here. They were all stinking rich of course. I saw groups of tourists looking around. It didn't seem that the inhabitants minded, they were even asking the tourists to come inside to take a look and show off their house, or well mansion was a better word. There were a few houses and most were mansions. After wandering through this waste of gold I headed back to the docks. I finished the procedures and decided to take 10 boats back with me this time. I was feeling adventurous and was wondering if I could get these boats back in style.
I sped up after leaving the gate and would drift the boats in bends, when encountering boats in front of me I made a ramp of water and made the boats do a 360° in the air while making the boats jump over them. I had a lot of fun but it didn’t take long because I reached Girai in record time. It only took me 7 hours.
Gregory was again looking at me as if he was looking at a mythical creature. does he know? “Hey, I saw boats flying in the distance, was that you? You have been away for one and a half days…” I found a method of drastically speeding this up, look I brought 10 boats all in the same condition they were in when they left Gittrian.
“I see that is great to hear, just don't overwork yourself.” Don’t worry, that was quite fun. Gregory gave Nilah a snack and I moored the boats and went back home.
“Hey! Don’t forget to rest! It might have been fun but completing an 8-day trip in this short amount of time must be tiring!” I gestured that I heard him and I entered my house. I went to practice some sword fighting in the training room. No matter what I did they would shatter when I got a bit serious. Even those that had many purified wavelengths. They were sturdier but still shattered. I sent 2 shadow clones to craft some tools and other weapon types while I was practicing with the sword. I can make a cool new sword but if I don't know why they shatter then I will just make one to break one.
By the end of day 109 I realized what the problem was. I simply swung my sword too fast for most materials to handle, also at those speeds the ambient mana seemed to act like a liquid or even a solid. There were 4 ways I could tackle this, the first one was to give up on swords, that's not going to happen so there were 3 left. The other 3 were, to use a material strong and flexible enough, get something that can deal with the ambient mana like frost magic, or use something that doesn't interact with mana like leyline energy. Now the last 2 seem extremely difficult while the first one might be some extremely rare and expensive alloy. I will need Barusu's opinion on this.
What do you think Nilah? Nilah wasn't paying attention because she was fighting some monsters the simulations brought up. The monsters stood no chance, frost magic is so unfair to fight against, been there, done that. The thing is, Nilah isn't a biological creature so she's unaffected by frost magic’s biggest weakness. It looks weird to see a small cute fox bring down enormous monsters. I have not once ordered her to turn into her original form. I think I will destroy my house if I do, not a lot of magic is used to keep this place together but most materials don't do well when they get frozen. I would ask Barusu about the sturdy metal next time I visit.
My focus shifted to my wires. I need an upgrade. Vinny had told me that older dragons have beards and that dragonbeard matches the properties I need for my wires. They're thinner and stronger. The problem is, I need to steal it from an older dragon or ask for it. But going into dialogue with a dragon… not sure what I would prefer. I could use the trick I used against the Mountain to get through the tough dragon scales. Their toughness is my only concern. I might have to throw multiple rounds of strong attacks at it so I can't use many risky moves early on. I had more than enough phoenix flowers so I shouldn't run out of stamina or energy. Nilah has mana problems covered. So, all I need to worry about is getting one shot and getting through his toughness. That doesn't seem so bad. Vinny mentioned some problematic fire dragons in the Penumbra mountain range.
Hey Nilah, want to kick some dragon butt? Nilah seemed fired up. I collected my best daggers, cutting the dragonbeard off after I knock them out won't be easy otherwise. Vinny mentioned fire dragons but I shouldn't be surprised to find earth dragons. If I find an earth dragon I will run, I have no time for that. Will I lose? Probably not, I will lose a lot of time though. I spent 3 days preparing for this dangerous errand.
