Vol 3 Ch 12.1: Out of breath part 2

Crissy looked around. “Hey, how come this thing looks so small from the outside but is so spacious?”

Courtesy of Agnis’ spatiotemporal magic I assume.

It’s not much but if it’s about messing with the volume of spaces or having doors lead elsewhere then I’m your guy!

Why do I have the feeling that this was a byproduct of a prank…

Because it is! Now Raishin if you would please! I will link you up with my vision so you don’t get lost, this cave system is a mini maze.

The tadpole entered the water and we slowly navigated toward the spot I had marked for explosion. The tadpole went quite fast. I don’t know if real tadpoles are fast but Raishin made this tadpole more like a racing tadpole.

You’re not getting any more strange ideas, are you?

Can you stop reading my mind?!

I know you well enough that you might revise this situation to create a situation similar to our dolphin race.

Ugh, can you stop being so overpowered?!

We’re almost there!

“Already? That was fast!”

“Well, they are mythical beasts, nothing is probably going to make sense, I wonder if uni has literature on them…”

“Ugh, Crissy you’re such a nerd!”

“And you could benefit from stuffing books in your head instead of men!” The chicks started to bicker and Raishin and I got out the tadpole to knock the wind out of this whale.

I created a frost arrow and shot it at the stomach wall to mark where Raishin needs to send his [Fusionado]. I released all the hydrogen gas I had stored up and made it stick to the wall in a bubble of thin ice. I gave a thumbs-up and returned to the tadpole.

Raishin sent some [Lightning Glitter] at the bubble, started up his [Fusionado] set up, and started to compress the hydrogen. He returned to the tadpole when the [Fusionado] was complete and headed over to the bubble. He had already compressed the hydrogen to almost half its size. Greg covered the tadpole in various layers of [Shadow walls] and [Shadow domes]. I added a [Frost wall] to the mix and I linked Greg up with my vision and we looked on as how the [Fusionado] hit the hydrogen bubble and started to heat it up. It completely fused with the bubble and started a fusion reaction. Raishin compressed it all into a small ball of plasma which then started a fusion reaction and violently exploded.

The whole place shook and rumbled. A deafening and deep whale sound almost tore our eardrums.

“Aaah!” Crissy ducked and covered her ears.

“Did... did it work?”

It seems the whale is ascending. I think we successfully knocked the wind out of the whale.

Wow! That was the biggest explosion I’ve ever seen! It even blew a hole in the whale’s stomach!

I can’t imagine it being happy about this!

Well, his biggest problem is being out of breath so we have until then to relax. After that, he will probably be pissed.

Probably? We blew a hole in its stomach. I would be surprised if he wasn’t pissed. What is your plan to get him to spit us out?

Hehe, do you still have your gasmask, Greg?

What in Hourai’s name are you planning this time!

It’s time for my secret weapon to make its debut!

I took out my jar of concentrated mustard and opened the lid.

“My eyes! What’s this thing? Is this mustard? It’s so strong put it away!” Crissy dove in my tails to avoid the mustard smell that started to fill the inside of the tadpole.

Greg smacked me. Close that! Don’t open that here!

Well, that’s why we need your gasmask! Ugh, my eyes. I rubbed my eyes.

You must be the biggest idiot on the planet besides Raishin… I don’t think this is enough to make him spit us out though…

Right, but I have 2 jars! I took out another jar.

You know that that’s not going to make a difference…

Well, I’m going to use [Elgard Overload] to make an infinite amount of it until it throws us up. Since I’m just making an infinite amount of this there shouldn’t be too many downsides that I need to kick out of reality and I can stop it prematurely so I don’t have to be stuck without my eyes for 80 minutes.

Should you really be using such a strong skill to make an infinite amount of… mustard? Can’t you just get us out with it?

Well, the best way to use it is to create a temporary impossibility to force something permanent, if I get us out with [Elgard Overload] and it drops it might put us back inside the stomach. The infinite mustard will disappear after my [Elgard Overload] drops but it will create an event which is the whale throwing us up.

Hmm I see, so it’s not completely reckless. I don’t have any better ideas and since it doesn’t involve blowing ourselves up, I acknowledge that this idea is relatively safe.

Hmm that is strange…

“What is strange?”

Normally this is the moment when something goes wrong but according to Agnis’ eyes everything is going well, my intuition is not picking up anything either.

Well, something is bound to go right at some point. Just 2472 more meters and my secret weapon can shine! I took out my gas mask and put it on.

Greg also took his one out and 2 others. He gave them to the chicks.

Hey what about me?

Weren’t we supposed to be prepared for anything in the last 4 years? Greg flashed a malicious smile behind his mask.

Oh, come on this is very different than just learning how to swim!

Well, I only have 3 gasmasks I’m sorry!

Give me yours then!

Alright guys, stop clowning around! It’s time for my secret weapon!

I sat in the opening of the tadpole. I activated [Elgard Overload] and opened the jars. Raishin and Greg got kicked out of my shared vision the moment I did this. The mustard kept streaming into the stomach of the whale. Whatever water or stomach acid the mustard touched also turned into mustard so it didn’t take long for there to be mustard everywhere.

Help… me…

Raishin got hit by a small blob of mustard and he tested it.

Aagh! So strong! It’s going through my nose and to the back of my head!

He was rolling around in the tadpole and it reminded me of Io. Both are idiots. The whale started to act strange and 3 minutes after I started [Elgard Overload] the stomach started to convulse and I braced myself.

It is going to spit us out!

Not too long after we got flushed out. I canceled my [Elgard Overload] the moment I saw the sky. I would be 34 minutes without my Elgards eyes now. I took this chance to recalibrate with the leylines. 8.9% affinity and 4.1% authority. It seems to work now.

I connected to the air leyline currents and broke us out of the tadpole and used [Waterfall] to get to the shore. The whale was kind enough to surface quite close to the shore. It seemed relatively close to a peninsula. I don’t think this is where we entered the ocean.

I confirmed that we were still near Kaledon.

Phew, it wouldn’t be funny if we ended up on another continent.

We arrived at the shore and I had 11 minutes left before I could use my Elgard’s eyes. The ocean had become wild and we kept hearing wild whale noises.

He seems very pissed.

“Dry land!”

“We made it!” The chicks ran around and made sand angels in the sand. It was good to be on solid ground too. Gregory also seemed to be happy to have earth or sand beneath his feet.

Hey uhm guys, it is not necessarily our problem but don’t you think we should do something about that whale?

The whale was rampaging and large waves started to approach us. It also seemed to have caused a thunder and rainstorm. It was quite early in the morning but it was extremely dark because of the clouds and purple lightning dropped from the thunderclouds.

Hmm, leaving this whale here to rampage might flood some areas. We might have to nuke that asshole.

I agree but I’m not going back on the water!

That’s fine, you protect the chicks, Raishin, and I will deal with it. The whale is super sturdy, on the ocean, quite far from any civilization, if there is one moment Raishin and I can go all out it’s now!

Ooh yes!

I dealt with the waves that approached us. I shifted stance and used [Churning waves] to counter the waves coming at us by canceling them with my own waves.

This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience.

“Shouldn’t we call for a specialist or my grandfather?”

How is your grandfather going to help with this? And we’re the specialists!

“My name is Christina Fugaku and my grandfather is Teppei Fugaku, the headmaster of Fugaku University and the Sword Saint, or sword hero.”

Wow that is some major reveal Crissy, so you’re not just a random NPC?

“Enpesee? What?” Crissy seemed confused. It looked like she has never touched a videogame in her life.

“I guess they’re gamers Crissy they mean Non-Player Character, they probably mean that you’re not some unimportant background character.”

Ohh are you a gamer girl?

“Not really but it’s important to know what the guys like.” Hayley put her hands on her hips and made a smug expression.

“Hey, isn’t it rude to call me that?”

Who knows, anyways we’re the specialists as Raishin said, we are good at blowing stuff up. Let’s go blast him Raishin! I can use my Elgards eyes again!

Hell yeah!

I linked Greg and Raishin up again and used [Waterfall] to get to the mega whale. Raishin used continuous teleports to get there.

So how are we going to nuke it?

Well, the whale monsters were weak to lightning so I assume nuke it with lightning. I jumped on the whale and fired up my [Tail Dynamo]. Raishin landed next to me.

So, I just blast it with lightning?

Yup go ham. I’m going to use [God of Thunder].

Is that the lightning blast you used to put a hole in Boshi town square?

Yeah, the orange lightning pillars you might have seen were also [God of Thunder].

In that case I can’t hold back!

Clouds with tiger patterns started to gather around Raishin.

Oh, you can use that in combat now!

Yes! It still needs work but I should be able to generate way more energy now! Also!

Raishin went 6t mode. I used illusions to make sure the mana bursts wouldn’t travel far. I decided to extend this so that not too many people would notice this whale going ham. Orange lightning rained down from the sky. I used the trick I learned on Mount Thunderpeak to send them all toward the whale’s head. My tails were gathering orange lightning. The whale noticed that something was on its back and started to move. It tried to submerge.

Another mana wave and the shadows started to move strangely. A huge shadow extended toward the whale and locked it into place. I looked at the shore and I saw waves of shadows. Gregory had decided to go 3t mode. Large black paws made out of shadow appeared next to the whale and started to claw at it. The whale cried and threw water and wind attacks around.

Whoa, let’s drop this whale!

Hey since you use orange lightning and I’m going to use black lightning how about we made a lightning wasp or something?

And who is going to control it?

Uhh, my control is shit, if you would be so kind?

You feed it lightning, I will control it.

The lightning was ready to get discharged and I used [God of Thunder], Raishin used a skill that he had named [Black Lightning Spear]. A direct hit and the whale started to thrash and made more noise. I made the lightning ride on the ambient leyline currents, closed the connection, and focused on controlling the mana. I had no choice but to make the mana follow the leyline course. I succeeded in forming it into a wasp. I messed with some runes and succeeded in attaching the mana to the leyline energy.

Wow I don’t know what you did but my intuition tells me that you did something amazing!

Your request was near impossible…

I connected back to the leyline energy. The authority and affinity were still the same. I retook control over the [Thunder God Wasp] and moved it around with leyline energy.

Not as responsive as I want it to be but it’s good for something I put together in 5 minutes!

Raishin jumped on the back of the wasp and I sent the wasp to assault the whale. Every time it stung the whale it discharged a stupid amount of black lightning through its stinger. Raishin kept feeding it energy and every sting just kept doing more damage. I had to jump off the whale because although I can endure lightning quite well this is getting a bit stupid.

Hahaha this is cool! I got it from here Agnis! I have another idea!

Right, I guess this is the moment I get the fuck outta here!

I used [Waterfall] to get to where Greg was on the shore. His shadows had absorbed the lightning that spilled or missed the whale and the [Shadow Paws] were applying some sort of [Liberation] whenever they smacked or scratched the whale. It seemed so intimidating at first but now it can’t do anything.

Phew that whale isn’t as strong as I thought it was.

Are you done messing around? The whale isn’t dead though.

Well, Raishin said he had an idea and I don’t want to get vaporized so I got out of there. What’s up with those chicks by the way?

Pay them no mind, they are just speechless.

Hmm, they seem to have the same thing Thalia had.

Thalia?

Never mind, look! Is that a black [Lightning Glitter]?

The [Thunder God Wasp] had crashed into the whale’s back and there was a big gaping hole on its back that was sputtering blood. Raishin rained black [Lightning Glitter] on the whale. The tiger clouds around him started discharging black lightning. I don’t know exactly what that means but I do know one thing. This whale is fucked.

Raishin sent out a strange black mist. It was a mist made out of lightning? How did he do that? The whale let out a very loud cry and silence followed. The whale had breathed it’s last breath. The sea calmed down. The black mist disappeared and it revealed just the ocean and a sinking mountain. It seems the shitty labyrinth will stay submerged.

Did...did he just vaporize that whale?

Seems so, as far as I could tell it got ripped into atoms. This might be his most damaging skill yet.

Greg and Raishin canceled their tailed beast mode and the sky started to turn back to normal and the area became lighter because it was already close to 07:00. I slowly removed the illusions covering up this battle and Raishin teleported next to us.

Phew, [Black Lightning Haze] needs a lot of energy. That was refreshing!

And you didn’t nuke the whole area! That’s some good progress!

Hehe thanks!

That was very impressive. It feels good to have no aftermath effects!

“You guys… you do know that that was an ancient creature? It could swallow mountains and is unbeatable, I mean nearly unbeatable! You just smacked it around and killed it like it was nothing!”

Well as we told you, we are Mythical creatures, we stand higher on the totem pole than ancient creatures. Anyways good riddance I can’t imagine this thing being a boon to the environment.

Crissy sat down as if we had turned her world upside down, well we did so that’s not surprising. Hayley was trying to process what just happened.

Let’s bring these 2 home. I can’t imagine them being able to get much done in this state.

I hid my tails and hoisted Crissy on my back, giving her a piggyback ride. Raishin piggybacked Hayley. I snapped my fingers in front of Crissy’s face.

Hey, wake up! Where do you live or where can we drop you 2 off?

“Huh, what? You’re leaving already?”

No, we’re dropping you 2 off first.

“Uhh you can drop us off at the Fugaku University near Fuurang. That city over there in the distance is Fuurang, the University is close by a bit more on the peninsula.” Crissy pointed toward the peninsula not too far from us.

Ok guys let’s go bring the chicks home.

It was fun!

Not sure If they agree.

We took it easy in carrying the chicks back home. The area was quite lush and it had a lot of nature so we just enjoyed the walk. The chicks had fallen asleep and it became quiet. While none of this was magically taxing, it had been physically and mostly mentally taxing. At first, I was wondering if I had covered us sufficiently with illusions. I don’t want that tomato goddess to get wind of what happened but we have been walking for 2 hours and we are still alive so I assume I did a great job. We could see a city appear in the distance.

We arrived at Fuurang at around 9:12. It was a Monday and surprisingly quiet for a city.

They told us to bring them to the university, right?

Yeah, oh look a floating platform station! It says that the green one goes to the university! Let’s go!

Ugh, I could use a rest!

We ran to catch the floating platform. We didn’t had any special cards for it so I used my ‘Noble ID’ to cheat the system.

You’re still abusing that?

It works or would you rather waste time trying to figure out how to get those cards?

Yes! I can finally sit!

We sat on the comfy couches on the floating platforms which were floating toward something that looked like another city. Is that the campus of the university? It’s not as big as the Misha Academy but it’s coming close. I needed to curb the idea of pranks that I could pull in a place like that. Universities and academies now stood synonym for pranking to me.

The ride almost took an hour. We got off in a fancy platform station on the campus. I wonder what the point is to have a city next to this place if this university could very well act as its own city. Maybe because of this hour-long ride? Crissy and Hayley had woken up during the platform ride.

“How do I look? Do I have bed hair?” Hayley was patting her hair down.

“It’s quite early, the guys you’re interested in won’t be here this early Hayley, they might not even be here until lectures start…” They got some strange badges out and pinned them to their clothes at chest height.

we got off at our destination and the chicks patted their hair down and straightened their outfits.

“Thank you for bringing us here. I’m going to say hi to my gramps and then take care of some things.” Crissy waved and walked off.

“Such an honor student, I should pay her gramps a visit too, thanks guys!” Crissy had already started walking and Hayley ran after her.

I’m going to miss them, they were so hot…

Alright, let’s get out of here. Greg?

Greg was looking around in amazement. I forgot that he was a nerd, any place that was a library or academy would grab his attention.

Greg! Let’s go!

Hey, lectures don’t seem to start until next week, how about we just look around, I never had the chance to go to a university.

Ugh, what a nerd.

Come on! It would make for a good reference! Who knows maybe we will encounter a university dungeon!

Unlikely but not impossible, I guess looking around won’t hurt. I wonder what they serve in the canteen.

Hey is that where they do sport?!

We decided to split up and look around. We would gather back in front of the platform station in 2 hours. Raishin would check out the places where the students would sport, I will probably visit the canteen and I’m sure we will have to collect Greg from the library before we leave this place.
