Pneuma 42: Spirit Vessel

Pneuma 42: Spirit Vessel

The first thing my clone did was give me all the volumes, books and papers it had rewritten, and I stored them in my dimensional pocket in a special spot, I then headed over to Bywen.

Guess what! You might be able to walk around soon! I would say today but I don’t know how long this sculpting will take.

“Oh it’s great to see you are doing well! And that is great news!”

I took out the red clay that was specific to Bywen and the female batch; it was a lot of clay.

Uhh, this is a lot, do you mind if I also make a spare?

“I don’t mind at all.”

I broke off 2 pieces that I thought would be enough, and I started sculpting a basic humanoid figure with 4 arms.

“I want long legs.”

I made the legs a bit longer. I kept following Bywen’s instructions until she was satisfied.

“That looks good.”

Quite tall though.

“It will come in useful if I ever have to physically defend my children.”

I focused on the 2 clay figures and infused the Albedo sentence. Rignef had also instructed me to blast it with some foxfire to lock in the appearance, so that’s what I did.

I was unsure what to expect, but the look Greg had drawn for Bywen appeared, quite naked. They were identical to how Greg had drawn her.

“Oooh! She is beautiful! I am beautiful! Oh, I feel it pulling me in.”

I put a simple seal on one of the vessels to make sure Bywen’s spirit wouldn’t get split up and enter both of them. I then placed the vessel against the tree trunk and poured Bywen’s Ichor Pneuma over the vessel.

The tree stopped glowing, all the spirit tethers snapped, but transferred to the vessel. I didn’t see any spirit tether appearing around her vessels, but my Elgards eyes told me that the tethers ran through the Ichor Pneuma in her body. They might be harder to break if they are inside her vessel.

The vessel twitched and there was movement. She opened her eyes, tried to move and fell over. I tried helping her up, but she clumsily fell over again.

“Wha… dis ish herd.”

Just take your time, you probably have never walked on 2 legs or spoken out of a real mouth. Just keep practicing.

I spent 2 hours trying to teach Bywen how to walk. I had urged her to just keep talking and say anything that came to her mind so she could practice. Her speech got good enough after an hour, but she was still clumsily walking after 2 hours.

“How do you… do this!”

Well, you wanted long legs so your center of gravity is further from the ground, so it’s going to be a bit harder.

Bywen was almost 2 heads taller than me which greatly contributed to her instability.

How about we walk to the outside?

“Like this? I can’t have my children see me walk like this!”

Oh wait. Right, they can’t see you like this, but not because of how you walk.

The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement.

I took out some clothing from Jarn and decided what would be the best to put on her.

Here try putting these on.

“But they’re too small!”

They will adjust, just try.

Bywen put the clothes on with the coordination of a 2-year-old so I had to help her. The clothing adjusted to her figure after she got dressed. She admired the dark red blouse and blue jeans she was wearing.

“Not very elvish but this works thank you!”

She came in to give me a hug but tripped and almost knocked me over.

Whoa easy there, no advanced movements for you yet! You might not be heavy, but you can still do serious damage to the things you fall into. Your vessel, no your body, is extremely sturdy. You could crack open any skull you headbutt, quite easily, actually.

“I will pay attention to that. Can you come over so I can give you a hug to thank you? I’ve always wanted arms to do this.”

It was a bit of an uncomfortable request, but I went over to her. 4 arms closed in around me. It seems I did a great job, she just felt like an organic body.

“Thank you very much, you have no idea what this means to me. I can finally walk between those I love; I can finally hold them; I can finally laugh with them. Thank you for granting my wish.”

I appear to be granting a lot of wishes lately.

Thank you for your hospitality and being so helpful.

I helped Bywen up and did my best to catch her when she almost fell over.

“You will leave, won’t you? Just know that you are always welcome here.”

Yeah, I know that you don’t mind but we have stayed here for too long. The seal on your spare is just a simple containment spell. Anyone should be able to lift it. Only lift it when your current body is so damaged that it tries to kick your spirit out.

I took out 2 barrels of liquid from the early Ichor Pneuma stages.

I will call this spirit water. Infuse this with your spirit energy and cover yourself with it at least 3 times per human year. It will make sure you don’t get kicked out randomly, and it will make sure that your spirit will get engraved in your vessel. You can stop doing this after 4 or 5 years.

Bywen nodded and I led her outside. I had to made sure she wouldn’t trip because there were many roots in the corridors.

The elders were doing their elder stuff as usual, but they all stopped when I stepped inside the big hall of the big tree with Bywen holding my hand.

Elves, Elders, and fruit stealers, I present to you, your spirit guardian, Bywen.

Some elders cried and others rushed at Bywen. I stepped back and let them have their moment.

Byron approached me almost instantly. “Thank you for everything you’ve done, we won’t forget this debt.”

Uh, it’s not a debt, but if you see it as this, I won’t stop you.

I handed Byron a paper with some instructions on how to help Bywen maintain herself. Most of it were things I’ve already told Bywen, but it was a good idea to also let the chief elder know.

Now go have your moment.

I gestured for Byron to talk to Bywen as I left. I went to visit Remi. The first thing I did when she let me in was dump the documents, I had rewritten, on her table.

I came to say hello, to deliver these and to say goodbye.

“Are you leaving already?”

Yes, sorry. These documents are rewritten from whatever I had archived from the Witchaven library. I will leave my clone behind. He will disappear once he had rewritten everything, which might take decades... Make sure to hop by my house here to pick them up.

I chatted with Remi for an hour before I left. We didn’t have plans to leave immediately, but it’s best we did. There was one problem, though. What will Elliana choose to do?
