Elliana nocked more arrows and shot down more flying abominations. “There is no end to them!”
Just keep blasting them and ehh don’t you run out of arrows?
“I’m using [Wind Arrows].”
Isn’t blasting them easier?
Raishin used [Giganova Blast] and put a dent in the swarm attacking them.
I am getting tired in dealing with these creatures. Wait is that a scythe dog? Does that mean…
Greg turned pale. He tried to contact Agnis with Teleroad but failed after which he wiped out all the scythe dogs with his shadow magic.
Elliana used [Tornado] and most of the creatures got sucked up and launched up in the air. She pointed her bow skyward and made it rain [Wind Arrows].
Whoa that was cool!
Thank you, Elliana. It seems we have some breathing room.
“Don’t tell me that dealing with these… things is one of your roles?”
Uhh dunno not mine or Greg, maybe Agnis' role.
I don’t know but he might be in big trouble if that’s the case.
Hmm the sky looks funny.
The sky had turned red and a meteor shower passed.
What is it this time? Raishin let’s pour more energy into the system it might get this world to a more favorable state
Again?
We can’t afford to take it easy while Agnis has to possibly deal with all of this… chaos.
I guess you’re right.
Raishin and Greg got ready, released their tailed beast modes and started to do their duties. Elliana was still thinking about her role. She had an idea now how to preform it, but she hasn’t had any opportunity yet. Some strange creatures were sneaking around. Raishin and Greg were busy so she would take it upon herself to deal with these.
“I haven’t used lightning in quite a while.” She used [Lightning Umbrella]. A skill Agnis had modified and taught her. It ascended and started shooting [Lightning bolts] as it ascended. She hung upside down from it and shot any enemy down with [Lightning Arrows]. The arrows pierced through their targets and punched holes into the ground behind them. They lingered and used [Discharge], finishing off those that had survived the initial attack.
More strange creatures appeared. But the biggest were 3 large red rabbit with long teeth and countless purple eyes on its ears.
“Wow that is disturbing. Raishin Greg, I will take these!”
Much appreciated!
Huh are those four tailed forest rabbits?
Of course not! Those rabbits aren’t beast kin, and they are big… and red… and have too many eyes… there is so much wrong with them, and that is ignoring the ticking sounds they make.
More noisy assholes. Blast them Elliana!

Elliana wondered what they meant with ‘ticking’ sounds and targeted the many eyes these creatures had. Arrows sprouted from every eye on the strange giant red rabbits. They made loud shrieks that were quite low-pitched. Everything about these creatures was disturbing. The rabbits ran at her, but she bound them by using elven magic and binding their feet with roots.
“I seem to have missed some eyes but where…” The rabbits were still able to pinpoint where Elliana was, even though she kept running around and shooting [Lightning Arrows]. She couldn’t see any eyes that didn’t have arrows sticking out of them yet. She used [Wind Walking] to increase her speed and circled around the red rabbits while barraging them with [Lightning Arrows] and [Wind Arrows].
Elliana had noticed that alternating wind and lightning arrows had a synergistic effect. The flow was comfortable, and it sped up the rate that she could fire as the magi circles activated faster after every alternation. The wind arrows were better at dealing with groups as the wind trailing behind them pulled enemies together and the lightning arrows could pierce through these groups but were also strong against tough opponents.
Vines bound the targets, and Elliana’s arrows punched holes through them. The red rabbits collapsed to the ground and their eyes stopped glowing purple. Elliana crouched down and attuned to the surrounding nature to find out if more of these creatures were lurking around. She noticed some spirits fighting some of these creatures not too far away.
She looked behind her and Raishin and Greg were still doing their roles while also fighting off a swarm of strange birds that had 2 heads. One head was where it’s tail was supposed to be. Elliana wondered if there were headed beasts, just as there were tailed beasts. She decided to split off from her friends to help the lesser spirits.
She threw up her [Leaf Kite] and glided over to the spirits. Their enemy came in sight after gliding for 10 minutes. 4 lesser nature spirits were having trouble fighting 3 tortoise like creatures. These tortoises had a single eye on each of the scutes of their shells. They were the same type of beings as the rabbits and the strange birds Greg and Raishin were fighting. It was then when she saw something shocking. One of the tortoises was devouring a spirit.
Elliana covered her ears as the lesser spirit made strange, uncomfortable sounds as it was getting eaten alive. It was impossible for Elliana to understand lesser spirits, since they could only talk the spirit language, but she didn’t need to understand it to know that it was crying for help. It was a very unsettling feeling. The 3 other spirits tried to save their friend but failed.
Elliana shot a [Wind Arrow] at the eyed tortoises, but it did no damage. She tried [Lightning Arrows] but these bounced off their shell and hide.
“Wha?!”
The tortoises had spotted her and sent [Flintstones] and [Rock Spikes] at her. Her [Leaf Kite] danced on the wind, and she effortlessly evaded the attacks and continued to shoot [Lightning Arrows] trying to damage the eyed tortoises.
“Little spirits, I’m sorry for your friend, but you need to get out of here!” The spirits sounded sad. Elliana couldn’t understand what they were saying. They briefly looked at the remains of their friend, made a polite gesture at Elliana and ran away.
It gave Elliana a complicated feeling. Spirits had always been nice and pleasant creatures, even now they seemed well-mannered even in panic. Why would anything try to hurt them?
Elliana started to alternate [Wind Arrows] and [Lightning Arrows] even though she knew it wouldn’t damage the tortoises, but there was a possibility the damage would ramp up enough to the point that she could deal damage. She kept the rapid fire up for 5 minutes while evading various earth-based attacks.
The tortoises huddled together and used [Reflect]. Elliana let go of her kite right before her [Leaf kite] got turned into a beehive. She landed gracefully on the ground and folded her bow and stored it in her bag.
She placed her hand on the floor and activated her elvish magic. Large tree roots grew out of the ground and went for the tortoises. [Reflect] didn’t work on these and the tortoises got caught by the roots. The roots turned the tortoises upside down, exposing their bellies.
“I see no tough shell there, eh?”
While normal tortoises have a reinforced belly, these had a big, nasty-looking eye on their belly. It didn’t look tough. Elliana got her bow out and enlarged it. The tree roots crushed the [Reflect] which was some sort of barrier.
Elliana charged up and used [Wind Ballista] and a heavy wind-based shot pierced through the belly eye of one tortoise. The tortoise exploded in light purple gore. Elliana was far enough to not get hit by anything. She readied a [Lightning Ballista] and the other tortoises started to thrash around.
“Nothing can help you now, this is for the poor spirits.” The [Lightning Ballista] went off, and the second tortoise got hit in its belly eye and exploded in light purple gore. Elliana breathed heavy as these skills took a lot of focus, mana and time.
She readied a [Wind Ballista] for the last tortoise. Charging this one took longer than the other 2.
“It seems that 3 ballistae is my limit for now.” She released the [Wind Ballista] and turned around. Exploding tortoises were quite disgusting. She walked to a spot where she would be free from the sight and stench, and circulated nature energy through her body to recover a bit from her fatigue. Her arm was shaking a bit from exerting so much force.
She was accustomed to [Wind Ballistae] but the [Lightning Ballistae] needed her to pull harder on her bowstring. That’s why she always had to start with [Wind Ballista] even though the lightning version did more damage. These also benefitted from the power increase by alternating. The speed at which she could execute them was still highly affected by her physical strength. She sighed and got up. She needed to get better at these ballistae if she wanted to even attempt to keep up with these mythical beasts.
A large flash blinded her briefly and a mountain not too far disappeared as it got blasted by Raishin’s lightning.
“How am I supposed to keep up with that…”
A drop hit her on her forehead and she looked up at the sky.
“Rain without clouds?” She caught some drops by holding her hand out, but her face changed when she saw the color of the drops, which were red.
