"I wonder... what kind of expression will you have if I pluck out those pretty Divine Eyes of yours?" the god said as he looked at Yun Ling's eyes with desire.
Though Yun Ling was a mortal and was frankly, nothing to him, his eyes were a different story. They were the Divine Eyes! The eyes that were known to be equal or greater than that of even the god with the best vision in the universe! Divine Eyes were a rare and a sought-after commodity that was why at that moment, he wanted nothing more than to forcibly take those eyes from Yun Ling and claim it as his own.
If he were to replace his eyes with the Divine Eyes, his strength would surely have a qualitative leap! What was more was the current Divine Being of the Divine Eyes was still a mortal and hadn't matured yet. Taking his eyes away from him was as easy as taking candy from a child.
Yun Ling took a step back in alarm as he raised his guard. His actions might be useless in front of a being who was astronomically far stronger than him, however, he would rather resist even if it was futile than do nothing at all. He didn't want to be likened to a sheep that was waiting to be slaughtered.
"For someone like you to have the Divine Eyes... should I say you are fortunate or not?"
At Yun Ling's side, Snow Fang growled at the god.
The god didn't pay him any mind as he spoke to Yun Ling like he was coaxing a child. "Child, how about you give me your Divine Eyes and I can at least spare your life. Trust me, you might think that I am cruel but that is far from the truth. Do you know what happened to those who possessed the Divine Eyes in the past?"
As much as possible, Yun Ling wanted nothing to do with this god but he was curious about what he said especially since it involved his predecessors.
"What happened to them?" he asked.
The god gave him a pleasant smile.
"Most of them had their eyes plucked out and died— no, killed," the god said. "Once you head to the upper realm, there will be all sorts of people that will go after you because of your eyes, including immortals and yes, even gods themselves. Since the time I've been born and even before that, no Divine Being had a good end. They either died pathetically or the Divine Aspects of their body was robbed from them or destroyed by someone else. The Divine Beings with the Divine Eyes were even more unfortunate."
Yun Ling's body went cold when he heard that. He knew that as a Divine Being, there would be countless people going after him for his eyes. However, to think that all of his predecessors since this god's birth had suffered like that...

How could he be sure that he wouldn't end up like them?
"Why are those with the Divine Eyes more unfortunate?"
"Unlike the Divine Mind and the Divine Body, the Divine Eyes could be easily transplanted," the god said. "Most people aren't willing to take out their brains and replace it for the Divine Mind even if doing so would make them a lot stronger. There might be some people who are willing to do that but they are in the minority. It is understandable though since they are afraid. If they replaced their brain with the Divine Mind, would they still be them or would they become a completely different person? As for the Divine Body, that one is more complicated. They will have to replace almost all their body or transplant their brain directly into the Divine Being's body."
After speaking, the god looked at Yun Ling playfully.
"Now, as for the Divine Beings with the Divine Eyes, they are the ones who are robbed of their Divine Aspects the most out of the three Divine Beings. Out of ten Divine Aspects robbed ranging from Divine Eyes to Divine Body, I can confidently say for sure that seven of them are the Divine Eyes while two are the Divine Body and one is the Divine Mind. Do you now understand how precarious your situation is, mortal?"
Yun Ling had a grave look on his face. He looked at the boy accompanying them to ask for confirmation if the god's words were true.
The boy saw the look that Yun Ling was giving him and nodded.
"I see..." said Yun Ling as he sighed deeply. Then, he looked at the god fearlessly and said, "Well, they are going to make a huge mistake if they come after me for my eyes. I will make sure they will die miserably. No one is going to take anything away from me. That, I swear."
The god scoffed.
"Big words for a mortal. Do you know just how many of your kind died in battle and had their Divine Aspects robbed? Let me tell you that none of those people were weak. Most of them were immortals while a good number had reached godhood. You, on the other hand, are just a mortal. What makes you think that you will do any better than them?"
Yun Ling also scoffed. He was no longer as afraid of the god as he had been before.
"Enough chatter. If you really want my eyes that badly, why don't you come here and take it for yourself instead of your pathetic attempt of convincing me like this? Some god you are," Yun Ling said in disdain.
One thing Yun Ling had noticed from his exchange with the god was that the boy was keeping an eye on them the whole time. He could tell from the boy's slight body movements that if the god really tried to make a move on him, he would stop the god himself. What was more was the god seemed to respect the boy a lot. The god's body language was telling him that he wasn't going to make a move as long as the boy was with him since he didn't want to displease him.
That was why although the god had enough power to take his eyes from him, he hadn't. Instead, he convinced Yun Ling into willingly giving his eyes to him.
With that realization, Yun Ling thought he could act more brazenly as long as he didn't cross the line too far.
"You..."
The god was stunned when Yun Ling seemed to figure out his intentions.
