Chapter 212 - Great Hall

Chapter 212 - Great Hall

"Are you sure about letting me in here?" Yun Ling looked at the monk who had cured Yue Dongmei and asked.

He was currently outside the Great Hall.

When the monk checked up on Yue Dongmei's condition before, he told him that he could go and enter the Great Hall since Tathagata had finally granted him access to it. He left it for later then since he wanted to stay at Yue Dongmei's side and wait until she got better before visiting the Great Hall.

He wouldn't have been able to concentrate anyway even if he did go to the Great Hall at that time since Yue Dongmei's condition was weighing on him, especially since he felt guilty for her, not to mention he didn't want anything to happen to her because she had the answer to his questions about Yun Xia and his mother.

He could've asked Yun Xia but his daughter was in the end, just a kid. There were matters she didn't know of that Yue Dongmei knew.

"Tathagata had already given you permission to come here but... you can only go inside once and stay for three hours," the monk responded.

"Only three hours? Isn't that too little?"

"Only three hours. No more no less. How much you can comprehend and whether you'll reach enlightenment or not will depend on your fate..."

Yun Ling looked at the monk with a smile.

"Fate? Fate can no longer control me. I've already removed my name from the Book of Fate," he said as he thought of the scene of him, tearing off his page from the Book of Fate when he ascended into the Fate Dominion Realm.

The monk looked at him in surprise for a moment before regaining his composure.

Stolen story; please report.

"That is a surprise. For you to reach the Fate Dominion Realm while you're still this young... truly young and promising," the monk nodded while praising. "However... fate is more mysterious than you think. You might have removed your name from the Book of Fate but as long as you remain in this world... everyone is affected by fate in some way or another. That includes even gods in the upper realm. The only way to be free from fate, suffering, and everything else is to reach Nirvana— the ultimate goal of those who practice Buddhism."

Yun Ling raised his brow. So even after he tore off his page from the Book of Fate, he hadn't yet truly escaped its clutches. Well, that was really to be expected. The Book of Fate was one of the Twelve Heavenly Grand Treasures of the universe, after all. It would be letting down its title if it was that easy to escape from it.

"I've learned something new today," Yun Ling said in appreciation.

The monk nodded at him before gesturing towards the Great Hall.

"You have somewhere to be right? Then you shouldn't waste your time anymore. Go in."

"Then pardon me," he said before walking past the monk.

He arrived in front of the Great Hall's towering doors and took a deep breath.

In the past, before that unfortunate incident, he had always wanted to enter the Great Hall and learn some of the Great Buddhist Monastery's supreme arts. Truthfully, he could've just learned their supreme arts by observing some of the monks performing their supreme arts with his Divine Eyes but he didn't do that.

When he was in the Great Buddhist Monastery then, his eyes could only copy but not improve a supreme art. That was why he would only copy supreme arts performed by excellent people. However, he had never seen excellent people perform their supreme arts in the monastery, even his close friend, Monk Wang Yang.

The current him though could now copy anyone's supreme art and perform it much better than them. Even so, there was nothing better than learning a supreme art on his own and fully understanding that supreme art through enlightenment.

In the end, a copy was just that... a copy.

To Yun Ling, understanding a supreme art with his Divine Eyes was like understanding a specific mathematical formula alone while disregarding everything else. He might've been able to understand that mathematical formula but in the end, he would be much inferior to those who had deep knowledge in mathematics and all the formulas in it.

With that in mind, Yun Ling entered the Great Hall.
