Chapter 119 - Changes in the Yun Clan

A few days had passed since Li Jing gave birth to Yun Ling, the entire Yun Clan had celebrated for a full day and night the day Yun Ling was born. The once somber mood of the clan had been replaced with that of happiness at the successful delivery of Yun Ling and for Li Jing’s survival. It was as if a huge weight had been lifted off from their backs when they heard the good news from Yun Zhan. Those who knew what was happening were almost certain that Li Jing was going to die along with her newborn son with how difficult her labor was this time. It was a miracle that they survived.

Little did they know that it was indeed just that— a miracle. However, accompanying that miracle was a big dilemma that was plaguing the Yun Clan.

Yun Wei was in his office along with his two sons, Yun Zhan and Yun Cang discussing about Yun Ling.

Yun Wei and Yun Cang looked at Yun Zhan with a serious expression on their faces.

Yun Zhan’s son was actually the current generation’s Divine Being! It was something worth celebrating about yet something that shouldn’t be celebrated. It was both a blessing and a curse for the child. Yun Ling having the power of a god was like putting a big target on his back. Many people with selfish agendas would certainly come after him.

“What should we do now?” Yun Zhan asked. He didn’t want anyone to harm his son because of his special eyes.

Yun Cang told his father and brother, “There’s nothing we can do but hide this fact from everyone else. We must not let anyone know about my nephew's eyes. It could spell his doom, and at the same time, the Yun Clan as a whole. We must not let that happen.”

Yun Zhan frowned at him.

“But aside from us, there are a few others that knew about him being the Divine Being since they saw it with their own eyes.”

A ruthless look appeared on Yun Cang’s face as he responded, “I know. You’re talking about the physician, midwife, their helpers, and a few servants right? We have to silence them. Only dead people could be trusted with important secrets like this.”

SLAM!

“How could you suggest something like that?! If we follow your suggestion, how are we different from the previous Yun Clan despised by everyone else?!” Yun Zhan angrily asked after slamming Yun Wei’s desk.

The whole time, Yun Wei remained silent as he listened to what Yun Zhan and Yun Cang.

“Don’t be foolish. Would you rather put your child at risk by letting them live? Or would you sacrifice them instead for the safety of your child? Well? Think deeply about it,” Yun Cang reprimanded as he looked at Yun Zhan disapprovingly. He knew that his idea was cruel but that was the best way he could think about minimizing the damage their existence could have to his nephew and to the clan. He also had a few other ideas like blackmailing them, holding their loved ones hostage, imprisoning them, etc. but the best was still killing them off. It was much better to tie up loose ends than letting them free and risk having them talk about Yun Ling’s eyes to other people.

Yun Zhan gritted his teeth as he loosened his fist. His brother might come out as cold-blooded with his statement but what he said made sense. That didn’t mean he had to like it though. He slumped back in his seat as he began thinking of ways about how to keep Yun Ling’s eyes a secret.

After a few hours of silence, an idea suddenly came into his mind.

Yun Zhan looked at his father and brother with a determined expression on his face.

Yun Wei followed Yun Zhan’s suggestion.

What Yun Zhan suggested was to promote the physician into the head physician of the clan. The midwife and their helpers were also promoted. As for the servants, they were given high positions in the clan with one of them even becoming the head servant. This was to ensure that they would be treated extremely well and given good benefits in the Yun Clan. With this, the other clans wouldn’t be able to bribe them off.

The servants’ salaries alone were around 1000 spirit stones every month. If other clans wanted to get them on their side, they would have to pay that much amount every month.

Would those clans be willing to give 1000 spirit stones to mere servants every month?

They wouldn’t.

They could do so much with that 1000 spirit stones. Giving them to servants was just throwing money away. Moreover, that was every month. It wasn’t a one-time payment thing.

After that, blood spilled inside the Yun Clan.

Those who were suspected of having close ties or suspected as spies of other clans were killed off. The Yun Clan had long since kept an eye on these people but they didn’t make a move yet since it was just mere suspicion. It wouldn’t be good if they killed an innocent person because of their suspicion. However, Yun Zhan suggested killing them off to minimize the risk which Yun Wei agreed upon.

Even though Yun Zhan didn’t want to resort to such a method, he was fine killing them off albeit with reluctance. As for the physician and the rest, he knew they were loyal to the clan and were someone to be trusted about which was why he didn’t want to use the same method against them. Instead, he made them more loyal to the clan by bribing them off with positions and high salaries.

Still, even after all that, there were some problems left.

Those were the suspected spies of the imperial family inside the clan.

The Yun Clan framed some of them and killed them off but they knew that there were still some left who had remained hidden under their eyes.

That was why the Yun Clan wasn’t too surprised when the emperor knew that Yun Zhan’s second son was a Divine Being.
