While the explosions of the Willow Tree Saplings were causing chaos among their ranks, they all heard and felt the ground shake violently.
A few seconds later, eight, huge, branches suddenly appeared from the ground up to the sky at the rear of the Willow Tree Saplings' armies. The eight branches were towering over them as if they were nothing but insignificant bugs in their presence... to which many of them thought that it wasn't actually far from the truth.
Seeing those branches up close away from the safety of their ships made their blood go cold. Earlier, though the branches were bigger than their ships, they felt that the size difference wasn't too exaggerated when they were still in their flying ships.
Now, with their human size, facing these things whose tip had pierced through the clouds...
They felt small.
"Do not lose hope!" the supreme commander of the Law God Sect loudly said, attracting everyone's attention to him. "I will not lie! There's no guarantee that we'll make it out of this alive! Perhaps, all of us might even be wiped out! Although we tried hard not to underestimate the immortal, we still underestimated it! Because of that, we are in this situation right now!"
A lot of them looked down, slowly going into despair. They hadn't even seen the immortal yet they were already having quite a hard time. This was the most difficult battle they had ever been in their entire lives, and perhaps, it would also be their last battle as well.
They then heard the supreme commander continue speaking, "Though our situation isn't looking good, it doesn't mean that we won't survive either! But to survive, I'm asking you to not lose hope!"
They all looked up to him, wondering what he was going to say that might get them out of their current situation.
Seeing that everyone's attention was back on him once again, the Law God Sect's supreme commander said loudly, "As long as we do not lose hope, we have a chance to win this! We must never give up! Remember that the fate of the world rests on our shoulders! We must take this immortal down! There are no other options! That's why we must not lose hope! If we give up and lose hope here, that is when we'll truly lose! Even if our defeat is certain, don't just sit aside and do nothing! Fight back! Let's show that immortal that killing us won't be that easy!"
Many of them cheered when the supreme commander finished his speech. Their low morale had risen considerably after the supreme commander said those words.
"Well said!"
"Fight back! Fight!"
The supreme commander looked at the sect master in amazement.
Truthfully, in their situation, his words alone wouldn't have been able to lift the morale of their army. No matter how good his words were or how logical it was, people who were on the verge of despair wouldn't listen to it. Even if they did listen, it wouldn't get into their heart.

However, he was familiar with their sect's sect master. He noticed that the sect master was using a unique, supreme art that was unnoticeable to all except for a select few. With his supreme art, the sect master lowered their hearts' defense and made his words resonate more to them, easily making him win their hearts and raise their morale without too much difficulty.
That kind of supreme art might not seem much but in a war, it was an extremely great and valuable skill to have. Soldiers with high morale were a lot stronger than those with low morale since the latter wouldn't give it their all in the fight. If the enemy's morale hit rock bottom, they might not even bother fighting anymore, thereby giving their enemy an easy win.
He shook the distractive thoughts out of his head as he focused on the branches and the Willow Tree Saplings ahead.
He took a deep breath and roared out, "Charge!"
After saying that, he ran ahead, taking the lead so the others would follow him. Even though their morale had risen, very few would dare to take the lead in the charge. He also had no time to wait for someone else to take the lead so he did it on his own to keep their momentum.
"GYAAAAH!"
"HAAAAAAAAH!"
The others let out a battle cry as they followed after him.
The supreme commander eliminated and blew the Willow Tree Saplings away from him before they could explode while giving instructions, "Let's eliminate those branches! After doing that, we'll follow the branches' body and see where it is leading to! It will most likely lead to us to where the immortal is!"
"Roger that!"
They all heeded his command and charged with even more momentum.
There were some Willow Tree Saplings who managed to get near them and exploded. A few of them were wounded but they continued their charge as they ignored their injuries. They couldn't afford to stop and heal themselves since they might get swarmed by the Willow Tree Saplings.
That would be a bad move. They would only incur more injuries and casualties if they did that.
"Commander-in-chief, look!"
He turned towards one of his subordinates and saw him pointing at the right.
When he saw what it was, he narrowed his eyes.
There was another army of Willow Tree Saplings coming towards them. They were at least ten thousand in numbers. What was more was each of them was three times bigger than the normal Willow Tree Saplings.
Not good! He must not allow those things to get close to them.
If each of those bigger Willow Tree Saplings could explode like the normal Willow Tree Saplings, which he felt they definitely could, then they were in deep shit.
Just as he was about to order some of the vanguards to obstruct it and perhaps, sacrifice themselves, the bigger Willow Tree Saplings were bombarded by a lot of flame-type supreme arts from above.
He looked up the sky and saw hundreds of unknown people standing on their own flying swords as they unleashed supreme arts after supreme arts on those Willow Tree Saplings.
His sight then fell on the old man who seemed to be the one leading those people together.
The old man noticed him and smiled.
"You... are you the general that is leading this army?" the old man asked.
"I am," the supreme commander said warily. If he had to trust his gut, he already had a clue where these people came from.
The old man nodded to himself, thinking of something.
His next words surprised the Law God Sect's supreme commander.
"Would you like to form an alliance with us? Even with our strength, we wouldn't be able to defeat the immortal on our own. I think this offer is good for you as well. If you team up with us, you will be able to minimize the casualties on your side. So... what is your decision?"
The supreme commander looked over the Law God Sect's sect master and saw him nodding his head. Though the sect master already gave him full authority in this war, he still wanted to get his opinions just in case because of how big this matter was.
He looked at the old man and said with a smile, "Let's team-up. There is nothing to lose from forming a temporary alliance with you, however, this alliance is only until the immortal is defeated. Will you be fine with that?"
The old man smiled.
"Perfect. That's fine with me."
