Yun Ling sat on the chair just beside Yue Dongmei's bed as he watched her pale face, sleeping somewhat peacefully.

While he was watching over her, he couldn't help but think of some things.

Perhaps, if he didn't force her to tell him about Yun Xia's mother, she wouldn't be on that bed right now. Instead, she would be at Yun Xia's side, following her and protecting her as she had always done even before he knew of her. However, could he really be blamed for that? He didn't know that she took an oath, and because he didn't know, he forced her, and then, she suffered a backlash. In a way, Yue Dongmei could also be blamed for her current predicament. If she had told him of her oath in the first place, he would've tried to find another way to get around it so she wouldn't suffer a backlash from going against her oath.

Yun Ling heard a loud knock on the door, breaking him off of his thoughts.

"Come in."

The door creaked as it was being opened. Then, his younger brother, Yun Feng came inside.

"Big bro, you called for me?" Yun Feng asked as he strode towards Yun Ling casually. While doing so, he was making a series of loud thuds on the floor with every step he took.

Yun Ling's right eye twitched. If he was being honest, he was pissed off a bit. From the way his youngest brother opened the door to the way he walked, not to mention his loud voice... the originally silent room before Yun Feng came in was now quite noisy.

"Can you be quiet?" he asked, irritation evident in his tone.

Yun Feng quickly realized his mistake and tried minimizing the noise he made.

"Sorry, Big Bro," Yun Feng said apologetically as he slowed down his steps and exaggeratedly carefully moved around. He was very careful since he didn't want to anger that beloved brother of his. God knows what Yun Ling would do to him if he really was angered.

Yun Ling sighed at him but he remained silent. Yun Feng might have been exaggerating but that was fine with him since it was much better than him making annoying noises every move he made.

"What did you call me for, Big Bro?" Yun Feng asked quietly.

Since a month and a few weeks ago, he was inside his room cultivating most of the time. He only came out for a few hours every day to spend time with his mother who had missed him so much before going back to his room to cultivate again. He had actually wanted to go with Yun Ling to the mountains along with his daughter and students to cultivate there but unfortunately, his mother, Li Jing, didn't allow him. It was because he had been away from home for the past few months and she didn't want him to leave the capital again so soon after just coming home. "Yun Feng... I'm going to give you a special mission," Yun Ling said with a serious look on his face.

"You? Mission?" Yun Feng frowned.

Yun Ling nodded at him.

Yun Feng's frown widened. Normally, it would only be his father that would give them missions since he was the master of the clan. Yun Ling didn't actually have the authority to do that. Even if Yun Ling was going to be announced the clan heir by their father, he still wouldn't be able to do that— only the clan master could. However, since Yun Ling was his beloved brother and the one he looked up to the most, he supposed he could do whatever mission it was that he wanted as long as it was reasonable.

"What is it?" Yun Feng asked curiously, finally removing the frown on his face.

Yun Ling looked at Yue Dongmei for a few seconds and said, "I'm going to bring Yun Xia, Yue Dongmei, and my students to the Great Buddhist Monastery later this day. I want you to come with us and keep an eye on them for me while we are away."

Yun Feng's brows twitched upon hearing that.

"Can I refuse? Because I don't want to... I heard it's so boring in there. There's nothing fun to do in that place... there aren't even any chicks you can flirt around with..." Yun Feng complained.

Yun Ling was irritated but he could understand what Yun Feng was getting at. After all, he felt the same before his father sent him into that place.

"Fine... but you owe me one..." Yun Feng said with a pouty lip.

"Yes, I owe you for this... thanks."
