237 : Anger

Turning her attention to the people now surrounding the small Taoist Temple, a silent fury began to build up in Xia Jingfei's eyes, one which she had only felt once.

As Xia Jingfei had absorbed her three disciples, she not only devoured their feeble cultivation and power but also their extremely tough Dao Hearts and other less obvious things.

Of course, as Xia Jingfei's three disciples were extremely young and weak, these things had minimal effect on Xia Jingfei, unlike what would have happened if she devoured them at a later date.

Without any warning, Xia Jingfei instantly appeared next to Li Fengfeng, her fingers slashing toward his neck with a ferocity that Xia Jingfei had not yet shown in the past.

Of course, as soon as that happened, Li Fengfeng took action, stabbing his sword through the latter's stomach, trying his best to delay her attacks on his.

But even so, Xia Jingfei didn't stop in the slightest, not giving Li Fengfeng any time to react as she suddenly cut open his neck with her nails.

Having taken advantage of her sneak attack, a faint smile appeared on Xia Jingfei as she felt six monks suddenly surround her and Li Fengfeng.

"Don't worry, I will come back for you," mumbled Xia Jingfei as she looked at Li Fengfeng with a mocking smile on her face, causing the latter's face to suddenly twist as Xia Jingfei disappeared, leaving Li Fengfeng and the monks staring at an empty space.

"Damn it," mumbled Li Fengfeng with a large frown on his face as he looked at the empty space in front of him.

"Venerable, are you alright?" asked one of the monks as he approached Li Fengfeng with a slightly concerned look on his face.

"You don't have to worry about me, It's just a flesh wound," said Li Fengfeng with an annoyed look on his face as he forcefully stopped the bleeding around his neck.

"Venerable, you shouldn't be too angry, if we managed to hunt down the demoness once, we can do it again, becoming angry will not help us in the slightest," said the monk, causing Li Fengfeng to shake his head.

"For some reason, I don't think it will be that simple," said Li Fengfeng, although the monks, who were not familiar with Xia Jingfei could not notice what was wrong, Li Fengfeng clearly did.

After killing her three disciples, Xia Jingfei, if only by a little bit, felt somewhat different, although the diference was extremely small, so small that Li Fengfeng could not put his finger on it, he knew that it was there.

...

Staring at the cave abode in front of her, Xia Jingfei couldn't help but shake her head.

"It looks like I'm back to this, hiding my tail and moving between cave abodes, not daring to show myself," mumbled Xia Jingfei as she sat down on a meditation mat.

Although this is how Xia Jingfei lived back when she was weaker and feared being caught by her enemies, Xia Jingfei still felt somewhat uncomfortable living like this.

Of course, for the sake of her safety, Xia Jingfei could bear much more discomfort than this.

After a few moments, Xia Jingfei turned her attention to the wound on her torso, which was seemingly refusing to heal itself.

"Li Fengfeng's sword really is somewhat troublesome," mumbled Xia Jingfei as she touched her wound, feeling the pain from it radiate through her entire body.

After a few more moments of thought, Xia Jingfei closed her eyes and began focusing on healing this wound of hers.

...

Three years later,

After three years of focusing on this one single injury, Xia Jingfei was about halfway done healing it, when suddenly, she opened her eyes and stared at the sky, through the mountain above her.

"Li Fengfeng, did I really kill some family member of yours, or why are you so focused on me?" mumbled Xia Jingfei as she suddenly disappeared from inside the cave abode.

A few moments after Xia Jingfei disappeared from inside of the cave abode, over a dozen figures appeared in the abode, staring at it with disappointed looks on their faces.

"It seems as though we can't take her by surprise so easily," mumbled one of the monks as he looked at the empty abode around him.

Although Xia Jingfei usually liked living a lavish lifestyle, this abode really once had the bare minimum necessities inside of it, showing in what state Xia Jingfei was back when she first created it.

Even though right now, if she was successfully surrounded by Li Fengfeng and the monks accompanying him, Xia Jingfei could be defeated, sealed, or even killed, the power balance between the two sides was relatively fair, unlike what was happening back then.

...

Without any distress on her face, Xia Jingfei abandoned the cave abode that she had previously used, migrating to another one a relatively large distance away.

"Back then I really didn't expect that I would have to use these even after I became so powerful," mumbled Xia Jingfei as she sat down in her new cave abode.

This time though, Xia Jingfei did not close her eyes to focus on healing herself, as she had already healed the injury to her body over the past three years.

What Xia Jingfei was focusing on right now were the benefits that she had obtained from devouring her three disciples.

After all, because of her pursuit and injuries, Xia Jingfei didn't have much time to spend investigating her gain in strength.

A few moments later, a slightly surprised expression appeared on Xia Jingfei's face, followed by an angry one.

"Li Fengfeng," mumbled Xia Jingfei as she felt the newfound strength of her soul.

Completely beyond Xia Jingfei's expectations, even though she was careful to not be affected by the spirits of her disciples, the strength of Xia Jingfei's soul had grown by over ten percent after the absorption process.

Of course, this was not caused by the power of the disciples' souls, but rather by their Dao Hearts which had been absorbed by Xia Jingfei as well.

After realizing this, Li Fengfeng's image appeared in her mind, causing even more anger to become visible on Xia Jingfei's face.
