149 : Mountains

149 : Mountains

As she tried to confirm something, Xu Yue's spiritual sense began examing the mountain range under her feet.

But even though her spiritual sense could travel an outrageous distance normally, as it attempted to go deep into the mountains it was stopped right in it's path.

"It's, as I've read," mumbled Xu Yue as she felt the mountains, which were comparatively tiny and separated, seemingly join up together into something immense.

"This entire region is one single mountain range," mumbled Xu Yue as she felt these words with her own hands.

Even though Xu Yue knew that before entering it, for some reason, this fact still brought surprise to her.

After thinking for a while, Xu Yue took out a canvas from her spatial ring and began preparing to paint.

As Xu Yue stared at the white canvas for a while, as thoughts drifted in and out of her mind, but even so, Xu Yue did not begin painting, as if she was waiting for something.

Suddenly, Xu Yue gently held the brush in her hand before painting a curved line in the middle of the canvas.

The moment the curved line was placed there, Xu Yue began her work as mountains quickly formed at the sides of the line in either direction with extreme speed, as such, in merely a few hours, the canvas was filled with countless mountains, painting a beautiful picture.

Looking at the painting, Xu Yue frowned before the painting that had just been created turned into ash and was swiftly swept up by the wind.

As such, mere moments later, another white canvas with a curved line in the middle appeared in front of Xu Yue.

Moments after that, Xu Yue once again went to work, this time tackling the problem differently, unlike the last attempt, branches suddenly appeared on the line, going in both directions before the branches were filled with leaves, or rather mountains.

"It's not good," mumbled Xu Yue before she could even finish the second painting, causing it to burst into flames before once again turning into ash in the wind.

...

A few days later,

Looking at her senior sister, who had just destroyed another half-finished painting, Ming Yun yawned before closing her eyes, still sitting cross-legged.

The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.

Right now Xu Yue paid no attention to Ming Yun falling asleep, as she focused on the canvas in front of her with her eyes closed.

Suddenly, Xu Yue let out a large burst of laughter.

"I don't think I have ever been this dumb," mumbled Xu Yue before changing the perspective of her new painting.

Unlike her last attempts, which looked as if they were from a person's point of view, Xu Yue's new painting seemed more like a map than an actual painting, in fact, Xu Yue kept the map of the Mountain Region in mind when beginning to paint.

But as Xu Yue continued, it seemed as if she had forgotten about that as the brush in her hands instantly filled in tiny details around the map that Xu Yue did not even know about.

After a few hours, the new painting was finally finished.

"Even though it's not that good it's still decent," mumbled Xu Yue as she slightly regretted not practicing her painting skills more, but of course, Xu Yue knew she did the best she could.

"This place is really a trap for painters, if someone wants to train their superficial skills then they would very much like this place, otherwise they would only waste their time," mumbled Xu Yue as she placed her new painting into her spatial ring.

Suddenly, Xu Yue appeared in front of Ming Yun without a sound and flicked the latter on the nose.

Without even waiting for a second to learn who was the one who had just hitten her, Ming Yun immediately jumped toward Xu Yue, looking more like a feral cat than a human.

Of course, Ming Yun suddenly stopped mid-jump before floating back down silently, causing Xu Yue to let out a snicker.

"Let's go," said Xu Yue, causing the seemingly annoyed Ming Yun to quickly follow Xu Yue onto the flying ship.

"You really are shameless, taking advantage of the time we are alone to bully me," mumbled Ming Yun as she looked at Xu Yue with disdain, causing the latter to roll her eyes.

"Do you think I dare not bully you when we are not alone?" asked Xu Yue as she weirdly looked at Ming Yun.

In response, Ming Yun only let out a loud snort, causing Xu Yue to look at her before smiling.

"She's really gotten much more comfortable with me around," thought Xu Yue as she looked at Ming Yun with a smile on her face.

As the two of them were bickering, the flying ship continued traveling on toward the center of the Mountain Region, but at the same time, something else happened in another location.

...

Just as Wu Jing was about to take another sip of tea from her cup, her eyes suddenly opened wide, and without any warning, she put the cup down.

Feeling the strength of her Dao, which had stopped growing long ago slightly budge once more, Wu Jing knew what this meant, without further delay, she took out a jade slip before inscribing some information in it.

And after that, a portal appeared beside Wu Jing, causing her to step into it without hesitation.

"Disciple greets master," said Wu Jing as she slightly bowed to the young man before her.

Looking at his little disciple, an extremely surprised expression appeared on Yuan Zan's face.

"Good," mumbled Yuan Zan as he examined his disciple's cultivation base with a smile on his face.

"You really didn't hesitate at all," said Yuan Zan as he looked at his disciple.

"I know my talent very well, becoming a True Immortal in merely five million years is utterly impossible for me, chasing impossible things without certainty isn't good," said Wu Jing as she sat opposite of her teacher next to the table.

Hearing that, Yuan Zan merely nodded, but the happiness on his face was evident.
