82 - Capture

Chuck took Tess and R2 and they went to find Nass. He had Raz and Maz stay at home and told them to stay inside with the door locked. He wanted to give the guard captain the note as soon as possible. They drove to the guard station and luckily Nass was still around.

Nass looked over the note and appeared deep in thought. “Otherworlder, if he is really planning on meeting you then we’ll need your pickup. If you drive then I can hide some of my men in the back to capture him. To be on the safe side, I’ll also send a few guards to keep an eye on your house.”

Chuck agreed but would be taking Tess and R2 with him. He didn’t want Tess to leave his sight. Three guards would be hiding in the back with R2 and one would be in the cab. The gates would be closing soon so they hurried with their preparations.

Chuck was skeptical if the orc would actually show up and figured it was some kind of diversion or trap but he couldn’t think of what the orc could be planning. Soon they were heading out of the city gate and toward the crossroads. It didn’t take them long to reach their destination and Chuck could see there was a wagon sitting on the side of the road.

At first it didn’t look like anyone was around but as Chuck stopped the pickup a cloaked figure stepped out from behind the wagon. Chuck got out of the pickup and several more cloaked figures appeared from around the wagon. One of the cloaked figures threw its hood back to reveal the orc.

”Otherworlder, I am glad you decided to take my advice. Our king will be pleased.” The orc smirked. “I wouldn’t be so sure about that.” Chuck replied. He couldn’t believe the orc was this stupid. Chuck whistled and the guards and R2 sprang into action.

The orc had a dumbfounded look on his face. His comrades seemed a little smarter and immediately pulled out their weapons and clashed with the four guards. Chuck pulled out his gun but held his fire for now. “R2, capture the orc!” Chuck yelled. The orc finally recovered from the surprise and pulled out a large broadsword which R2 immediately knocked out of his hands.

The orc then tried to test his strength against R2 by grabbing onto him but quickly found that he was outmatched. R2 restrained the orc with two arms and pummeled the orc into unconsciousness with the third arm. Chuck turned his attention to the guards and noticed one was struggling so when an opportunity presented itself, Chuck shot the hooded figure through the chest.

The attacker stumbled backward and the guard was able to finish them off. It didn’t take long before the rest of the hooded figures had been neutralized as well. Chuck sighed in relief. Luckily none of the guards had been seriously injured. In the end, only the orc and one of his men were still breathing.

It was decided that the dead would be loaded in the wagon and taken back to town. One of the guards and R2 would watch over the two prisoners in the back of the pickup. Once they got back, the gate was opened for them with Nass there to greet them.

“It looks like everything worked out as planned Otherworlder. We will take it from here. I can guarantee they won’t be bothering you again.” Nass said, smiling. Chuck shook his hand as the prisoners were transferred. Chuck was more than ready to head home and hoped the other kingdoms would leave him alone for a while.
