Chuck wanted answers and the following day Nass stopped by to give them to him. Chuck invited the guard captain inside and Maz got them something to drink. After some small talk, Nass got down to business. According to Nass, the guild member was paid a substantial sum to steal his vehicle by the orc visitor.
Guards had gone to the meet up point where his pickup was supposed to be stashed but it was empty. The guards were still looking for the orc but so far he had eluded them. There was no report of him leaving the city so Chuck still had to be careful.
Some of the confiscated money would go to the owner of the building that got damaged and Chuck would get a portion since his property had also been damaged. Chuck would need to get a new chain and lock for the garage but there wasn’t much he could do about his pickup.
He had inspected the damage and one of the tail lights was indeed broken and the rear bumper and tailgate were bent. Raz had used his incredible strength to bend the tail gate back into somewhat working shape at least. From now on, he would definitely take the keys out of his vehicle.
After Nass left, Chuck decided they would drive around and look for the orc as well. It may be reckless but he was tired of waiting around. There weren’t that many orcs in Axtol so he would stand out. The sooner he was found, the sooner Chuck could relax. The plan to steal his pickup wasn’t too thought out so Chuck was hoping the orc would be foolish enough to show himself.

First he wanted to drive around the poorer parts of Axtol, thinking that might be a good hiding place. It was a place he didn’t go very often as it felt more dangerous. He had once asked Tess if there was something like an orphanage for the homeless children to go to but evidently there was no such thing in this world.
One of his goals was to establish a charity to help them but he didn’t have enough money yet. Tess had mentioned that the church equivalent occasionally handed out food but it wasn’t a daily occurrence. They drove around for a while but didn’t see anything. Chuck moved their search to other parts of the city but after a while it was evident the orc wasn’t going to show himself.
On the way back home, they stopped to buy some supplies and a new lock for the garage. They also grabbed a bite to eat while they were at it. Once they got home and went to go in the house, they noticed a note had been stuck to the door. At first Chuck figured it was from Nass but after taking a closer look it seemed to be from the orc.
Chuck quickly read the note and frowned. Tess took it from him and read it next. It sounded like the orc was desperate at this point. The note was filled with threats against him and his loved ones if he didn’t come to the kingdom as requested. It also demanded he meet the orc at a certain time that evening at the crossroads before the howling wood.
Chuck was guessing if the orc returned without him then the orc would be severely punished or even killed. Chuck wasn’t too concerned about the threats and would be sure to turn over the note to the city guards. If the orc was actually dumb enough to be at the crossroads, then the guards should have no trouble catching him. He doubted this would be the last he heard from the two kingdoms however.
