They went to a room on the top floor which was just as ornate as the waiting room. Inside was a fox beast person dressed in a more elaborate tunic and some jewelry. “Guild master Alz, allow me to introduce the otherworlder Chuck Miller.” Nox said bowing. The guild master thanked Nox and dismissed him while beckoning for Chuck to sit down in one of the chairs opposite the carved wooden desk. He was surprised when the chair glowed briefly and conformed itself to his body - leave it to the alchemy guild he thought. “It is a pleasure to meet you, Nox has informed me of your situation. I’m glad the translation artifact has been useful.” Alz said while looking him up and down. “Um, yes it’s nice to meet you as well. Thank you for taking the time to see me. Actually the artifact is one of the things I’d like to discuss.” Chuck replied looking down at the medallion. “Yes, I’m sure we can work something out. The problem is the last otherworlder to borrow something from the guild disappeared without a trace along with the artifact. Replacing it was no small matter as I’m sure you can understand.” Alz said staring intently at Chuck. “Ah, I see.” he replied cursing the unnamed otherworlder in his mind. “Captain Nass also mentioned you might be able to get me an audience with the governor.” Chuck continued. “I’m sure the governor would be interested in meeting you so it shouldn’t be a problem. Nox has also informed me that you currently have nowhere to stay. If you like you may stay with us for the time being and I can get Nox to show you around tomorrow to see if you would like to join the guild. For now it’s getting late and I’m sure you are tired. I’ll have Mer show you to your room and bring you something to eat. We can talk again tomorrow.” Alz said ringing a bell.
The same raccoon beast person entered and led him down the stairs to a small room that had a bed, a desk, and a small wardrobe. The room was very plain but comfortable nonetheless. The bed did not have a frame and was just some padding and blankets on the floor. On the way he was shown the communal bathroom for the apprentices which consisted of some wash basins and a hole in the floor for a toilet. As he waited for Mer to bring him food, he opened the wooden shutters of the window. His room was on the second floor so he was able to see some of the city. It was starting to get dark and he could see lights start to come on some of the buildings. He looked around the room and saw a candle on the desk so he lit it using his lighter. Mer came back with some kind of stew and a piece of hard bread. He thanked her and started eating. It was pretty good but he probably didn’t want to know what kind of meat it was.

Chuck had a fitful sleep and had breakfast with the apprentices, mostly goblins and beast people. He kept to himself not wanting to attract any attention. After breakfast Nox appeared and showed him around the guild. It was mostly workshops, a room where two black smiths worked, storage rooms, and a few training rooms. Nox mentioned there was a vault but didn’t show him where it was. Chuck didn’t really think he wanted to be a member. It was kind of interesting but he didn’t know the first thing about magic and didn’t know how to make devices or potions. He didn’t really want to be a farmer either. He got sent to another world so taking up farming would be kind of boring - he probably wouldn’t recognize any of the crops anyway. Besides, he kind of wanted to travel and see what else the new world had to offer. After the tour he was taken to see the guild master again.
Guild master Alz got right to business when Chuck arrived. “I have good news, the governor can see you this afternoon. A carriage will be sent for you and I will be attending as well. If you become a patron, the guild would have no issues with lending you the artifact for however long you need.” Alz said shuffling some papers on the desk. “That’s good to hear.” Chuck said glancing at the medallion. “So how did you like the tour? Are you considering joining the guild?” “Alz continued. “It was interesting but I will have to think about it.” Chuck said diplomatically. “Take all the time you need. Now, about your items. Nox mentioned you had more of the plastic bottles as you call them. We would be happy to purchase all of them from you and look at any other items you may have.” Alz said with a grin. “Oh, good, I’ll bring them when I have the chance.” Chuck replied happily. He was just happy they would buy something he had since it wasn’t much. He was then shown back to his room by Mer and told to rest until the carriage arrived. He was a little concerned that his clothes weren’t good enough to meet with a governor but it wasn’t like he had anything else to wear. He hoped they wouldn’t mind. He did use one of the wash basins to clean himself off as best he could.
