Chuck was eager to test the gun but was afraid to do it in the city. From the size of the battery like power source he didn’t really expect it to do a whole lot but better safe than sorry, After all, this wasn’t Earth’s technology so he really had no idea what he was dealing with. It would be nice to take it easy and do a little fishing as well. When they got dropped off back at home he announced that tomorrow they would be going out of the city to do some fishing. Tess said she had never fished before so was excited. Raz and Maz were also eager to catch some more fish. Chuck figured the bridge should be cleared by then as Feli wanted to send a party a ways down the road to the Howling Wood to check on the situation. He only had one fishing pole so wanted to see if he could get more and some bait before tomorrow. He had noticed a few shops that were open on their carriage ride home. Maz was going to make them some snacks for the trip while Tess helped so Raz went with him to get the supplies.
Chuck managed to find everything they needed. The poles were nothing like his of course but they would do the trick. He had no idea what the bait was but Raz assured him it would work. Instead of the expected worms, it was pieces of some foul smelling fruit or vegetable. They also bought some camping supplies. Chuck thought it might be nice to camp out at least one night and Raz wholeheartedly agreed. When they had everything he could think of, they headed home. Chuck noticed there seemed to be more people smiling at him or waving and greeting him. It seemed his hero status had gone up again. He didn’t know what to think about that and ignored it for now.
The next day they had breakfast courtesy of Maz and piled in the pickup. Maz sat in between Chuck and Tess while Raz rode in the back. Maz and Tess had fun taking turns picking the music while they drove out of the city. The stone of the city wall and bridge was still blackened but the bodies had been removed. Chuck decided to drive farther down the east road and look for a better spot than last time. Tess and Maz got along well and were enjoying the music. Raz was standing up in the back, looking over the roof. Then he started pounding on the roof and growling for Chuck to stop. He pulled over to see what had got Raz so excited. Raz was pointing to the river which ran along the road and Chuck at first didn’t see what he was pointing at. Then he finally saw what looked like an old dock sticking out in the water. “Good eyes Raz, that might be a good fishing spot.” Chuck said smiling.

They got out and unloaded the truck, making a camping spot on a grassy spot near the river. Today, Tess looked like a demon or maybe devil girl with two red pointy horns on her head, reddish skin, long black hair, slightly pointy ears, and red eyes. She didn’t have wings but did have a black pointed tail. As usual, Chuck wasn’t quite sure where she had gotten that image from. Raz and Maz quickly got to fishing off the old dock. It had a few missing boards here and there but was otherwise sturdy. Chuck went with Tess and proceeded to teach her how to fish. They both cast their lines out and relaxed watching the river. Chuck fished for a while then left Tess to try out his new weapon.
He had brought a couple planks of wood to use as targets and set them up on the other side of the road. Chuck took a firing stance and pointed at the nearest target. He slowly pulled the trigger and a red dot suddenly appeared which startled him and he let up on the trigger. The dot disappeared and he realized the weapon had a built in targeting laser. He tried it again and this time pulled the trigger all the way. The weapon jerked slightly but he didn’t see anything shoot out of it. He then looked at the target and a smoking hole had appeared where he had aimed. It had no problem going through wood anyway. Next he hung a metal plate on the board and shot it again. A hole appeared through the metal and wood. Chuck was impressed and a little concerned that he didn’t know how far the blast or whatever it was continued after going through the target or the real range of the weapon. Chuck also didn’t know how long the battery would last. He would need to get a holster made for the gun but that shouldn’t be too much of a problem. He had to be careful when using it but it was just what he needed.
