Chuck looked at Vos with hope in his eyes. “I may not have seen a race like yours but there is one that can look like yours.” Vos said slowly. “There are demon-kin called shape shifters but they are rare. I haven’t met one myself but have heard they can take on any appearance. They are usually employed by underground organizations or high class brothels.” Vos continued. “Where can I find one of these shape shifters?” Chuck asked eagerly. “That I’m not sure. There may be some in the capital or even here in Axtol but I don’t know how you would find one.” Vos replied, shaking his head. Chuck wasn’t deterred, where there was a will there was a way. He thanked Vos for the information and went to speak to the governor.
“Ah, otherworlder. How did you enjoy the meal?” Feli asked. “It was delicious. Please give my thanks to the chef.” Chuck replied, walking over to where the governor was conversing with some officials. “I was wondering if I could ask you a question?” Chuck said, bowing his head to the group. “Of course, please excuse us.” Feli said, dismissing the officials. “Now, what can I do for you?” Feli asked. “Vos mentioned something about shape shifters. I would really like to meet some.” Chuck said smiling. “Hmm, shape shifters you say. I have heard the royals make use of some as body doubles on occasion. I don’t think there are any in Axtol. You would probably have to go to the capital to meet any, but I can put the word out that you are looking.” Feli said grabbing a drink.
“I would appreciate that. What do you think the chances are that one would meet with me?” Chuck asked curiously. “Since you are an otherworlder, you may get lucky.” Feli mused. “I can’t say though since I’ve never met one.” Feli continued. Chuck thanked the governor, then went to where the guild master was talking with Torj and Kyt. It sounded like he was asking them about their impressions of his pickup’s performance. “Otherworlder, how are you enjoying the banquet?” Alz asked as he noticed Chuck. “It’s great. Sounds like you are talking about my truck.” Chuck replied. “Yes, it is a fascinating contraption. Oh, before I forget, you should stop by the guild the next chance you get. We have a pleasant surprise for you.” Alz said smiling. “I like the sound of that.” Chuck replied grinning back.

”We are going on a hunting trip next week if you want to tag along.” Torj said, changing the subject. “That sounds interesting, but I’ll have to pass for now. Let me know the next time you go out though.” Chuck replied. He did want to try his hand at hunting in this new world, but without a way to replenish his ammunition he didn’t want to waste it. He was no good with a bow, so would have to use a gun. It was also probably safer to do some research first to learn about what he was supposed to be hunting. The only wildlife he had seen outside the city had been the bugs. He had heard Torj and Kyt talking about a few things but that was it. Raz had been teaching him how to read and write, but it would take a lot more time and work before he was literate enough to do some studying about hunting.
The banquet ended and Chuck was dropped back off at his house. Raz and Maz welcomed him home and were eager for him to tell them all about it. He was tired, but couldn’t help smiling at the pair while he went over what happened. Chuck was excited to go to the guild tomorrow and see what progress they had made. As he got ready for bed, he couldn’t help thinking about shape shifters again. Could they only change into things that they have seen? If that was the case, then it wouldn’t do him any good. Having a copy of himself around would just be creepy. He sighed, there was nothing he could do until he actually found one but there was still hope.
