Chuck showed the map to everyone. Raz and Maz seemed eager to find more treasure while Tess seemed worried that he would go get himself killed. He reassured her that he wasn’t going to run off and do something stupid and she relaxed and told him what the writing said. He was correct that it showed the Howling Wood. The “x” mark showed the location of some ruins with some directions on how to find them. It was something else to bring up when he met Alz. Speaking of which, Chuck was able to get a meeting with the guild master that afternoon.
Tess came with him as usual. She was wearing some of the new jewelry and hugging his arm tightly. Chuck just smiled and chatted with her as they walked to the alchemy guild. His feelings about this new world were much improved with her by his side. Nox was waiting for them and showed them to Alz’s office. “Ah, otherworlder what can I do for you today?” Alz said as he and Tess sat down. Chuck decided to talk about the map first. “Do you know anything about this?” He asked, laying the map on the desk in front of the guild master.
Alz took the map and silently studied it for a time before clearing his throat. “This is certainly interesting. I’m not aware of any ruins in this area but the Howling Wood is largely unexplored due to its dangerous nature. You may want to ask the hunters as they are the only ones that regularly go there. May I ask where you found the map and what you plan on doing with it?” Alz said, handing the map back.
“It fell out of an old book, so I can’t verify its authenticity. I haven’t decided what to do with it yet. I think I’ll take your advice and ask Torj and Kyt about it first.” Chuck replied, folding the map back up and putting it away. “If you decide to sell it, the alchemy guild would happily add it to our records.” Alz said smiling. “ I’ll keep that in mind. Now, the other thing I wanted to ask about was making a product to sell. Is there a device that can record sounds and then play it back?” Chuck asked expectantly.
Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
“Making a product you say. Hmm, there is a magical device that does that. It is mainly used for recording certain official proceedings. What do you plan on doing with it?” Alz asked curiously. “I’ve noticed some people like the music from my world so I wanted to try recording it and then sell the recordings. Right now the only way to listen to it is through my pickup.” Chuck explained, leaning forward excitedly.
“It is true music from another world is quite the curiosity. It is unfortunate the lyrics wouldn’t be able to be understood but I don’t think that would be much of a problem. If we are able to reduce the size and make it cheaper so more people can afford it then I think it will work. As expensive as it is now, only the richest few would be able to purchase one so there would be a limited market.” Alz mused, rubbing his chin. “Yes, making it affordable would be my preference.” Chuck added.
“Do you want to put this ahead of your ammunition project? We still haven’t made much progress in that regard.” Alz asked, folding his arms. “Yes, that is fine. I have this now so it isn’t as important.” Chuck replied, patting his gun holster. “I had heard you acquired the Infinite Bolt Caster and even got it working. You never cease to amaze me.” Alz said, eyeing the gun. Chuck still thought the name was ridiculous. “We will notify you when we are ready to start recording the music.” Alz continued. Chuck didn’t know if he would see any profits by the time the auction rolled around, but it was a good start. Next he wanted to visit Torj and Kyt and see if they knew anything about the location marked on the map.
