The last couple weeks flew by. His garage was nearing completion and he had picked up the furniture he had ordered. They had gone to the alchemy guild several times to see Bright and do business. The miniaturized recording devices were ready so he let Tess and Maz decide which songs to record first. He wouldn’t see any profits before the auction but figured he had enough cash on hand plus he planned on bringing some of the devices with him.
Speaking of cash, he had so much now he was getting nervous keeping it around. Chuck decided to go to the merchant guild and put it in the bank. According to the guild he would be able to access his money while in the capital. He hypothesized it must be another magical device similar to what the alchemy guild used. He thought Bright might want to go to the auction as well or to visit the capital but he didn’t seem interested.
Instead, after going through the library he was helping the alchemy guild with research and with some of Chuck’s projects. Chuck had even loaned them the shotgun since he didn’t have enough ammo left for it to be useful. With any luck they would figure something out. Bright did mention he would like to study any otherworlder objects Chuck acquired. He agreed and figured it was just as well since taking Bright along would have taken up what little room they had left in the pickup.
Raz and Maz had been busy putting together what supplies would be needed for the trip. Soon the day to leave arrived. Everyone piled into the pickup along with their supplies, the books, and one box of the music devices. The guards waved as they left Axtol and started their road trip. Tess and Maz were quick to turn the stereo on and started picking out music to listen to. Tess was a petite dwarf girl today or maybe a halfling, Chuck wasn’t quite sure which. He imagined it was to take up less space in the cramped pickup cab.
A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.
Chuck didn’t travel quite as fast this time since Raz was riding in the back. It was still faster than they were used to evidently by the looks on Raz and Maz’s faces as he accelerated. Tess laughed since she was already used to it. The trip was fairly uneventful and they had fun camping out. Without Raz and Maz, Chuck thought he and Tess would have had a lot more fun at night but they controlled themselves.
In what seemed like no time at all they had reached the capital. Raz and Maz were amazed at the size of the city. There was a line to get into the city like always, but Chuck had no problems with the gate guards and they were soon on the city streets. Their first stop would be the alchemy guild as he had promised to show off the music devices. Kizx happened to be in the lobby so met them himself.
He seemed excited to see the devices and books. He probably already heard the details from Alz but Chuck showed off the musical devices and explained that each had three songs recorded on them and played a couple for him. The sound produced wasn’t quite as loud as Chuck would like but it was acceptable. The sound quality was actually better than he imagined and he was duly impressed when he first heard it.
He handed the box over to Kizx who would pass around samples in the capital. That should get the interest up and hopefully there would be a good market for them. Chuck had no idea what to sell them for so would leave it up to the guild. Kizx also took the books to look over. Chuck was planning on leaving his pickup at the guild again for now. Next they would find an inn, then they could go explore the city.
