When they got home Raz handed Chuck a letter. “Master, this arrived while you were gone.” Raz bowed. Chuck was curious who would send him a letter. He hoped it wasn’t more trouble. He looked it over but still couldn’t read very well. “Raz, please tell me what it says.” Chuck said, handing the letter back. “Of course Master. It says there are items waiting for you at the merchant’s guild that were sent from the capital. Oh, and you will need to pay the transport fee if you want to take possession of them.” Raz said, looking over the letter. Chuck hadn’t ordered anything from the capital and couldn’t think of what it might be. There was only one thing to do, go and check it out. If he didn’t want it he could just refuse to pay the transport fee. “Tess, want to accompany me to the merchant’s guild?” He asked, offering his hand. “Of course.” She said smiling and grabbing the offered hand.
The merchant guild building looked very similar to the alchemy guild building. Tess and Chuck went in, still holding hands. They walked up to the nearest counter and Chuck showed the goblin receptionist the letter. “Ah yes, please follow me.” the goblin said, leading them to a storage area at the back of the building. The receptionist stopped in front of a pile of crates that looked familiar. “The note that came with the merchandise said this property was left unclaimed so now belongs to you. You will just need to pay the transportation fee.” The goblin said, waving at the crates. Chuck had almost forgot about the bandit loot. He had sold the bandit’s rusty weapons before leaving the capital although he didn’t get much for them. He figured someone would claim the boxes he had found in the hideout though. Chuck hadn’t looked through them so didn’t even know what was in the crates. He wasn’t all that interested but thought maybe Tess or Raz and Maz would find something useful. Chuck decided to pay the fee and arranged to come back the following day with his pickup to collect them.
The next day he brought Raz with him to help load the boxes and drove to the merchant’s guild. On the way he stopped to collect his holster which was supposed to be finished. He attached it to his belt and tightened the strap that went down his leg. The gun was larger than a normal pistol so he wanted extra support. The gun fit perfectly and felt good on his hip. Chuck thanked the store owner and they headed to get the boxes. There was a small crowd as they loaded the boxes. It seemed he and his pickup were famous now and the merchant guild members all wanted a look. Chuck humored them and answered their questions and shook some hands. Raz seemed happy about all the attention. When they got back home they were greeted by Tess and Maz who helped them unload.

They placed the boxes in the yard for now and got to opening them. The items they didn’t want would go back in the truck to be sold so he could recoup the fee. Everyone was excited to open the boxes and it reminded him of opening presents on Christmas. He was jolted out of his melancholy remembering Earth by Tess who hugged him and told him to open one too. She looked like a tabby cat girl today. He smiled and joined in. Maz found bolts of different colored cloth in hers which she planned on turning into clothing. Chuck didn’t know she could sew so was looking forward to seeing what she created. Raz found some carefully packed bottles in his that were apparently different potions. Chuck was surprised none of them were broken. He had heard potions could be expensive so it may be a good idea to keep some of them depending on what they did. Luckily they had labels on them. The rest they would sell to the alchemy guild. Tess’s was filled with a bunch of packets of different kinds of seeds. She thought they could expand their garden with them, which Chuck thought was a good idea. He was clueless when it came to this world’s plants so would leave it to them.
He found books in his but when Tess read the names it was mostly autobiographies of people Chuck didn’t know. They would go in the sell pile. Books were expensive so he should get a decent amount for them. Raz and Maz opened a couple more boxes but it was nothing of interest and went in the sell pile. Tess opened the last box which was filled to the brim with jewelry. Both her and Maz squealed in glee. They immediately started trying it on and showing it to off to Chuck who smiled and complimented them. He wasn’t sure if they intended to keep it all or not but didn’t mind either way. While the girls were busy with their treasure, he decided to flip through the books before putting them in the truck just in case. There was no telling what people might put in books. The first few were a bust but then a folded piece of faded parchment fell out. He unfolded it and was stunned to see what looked like a treasure map including an “x” to mark something. Chuck couldn’t read the writing but if he wasn’t mistaken it was located in the Howling Wood.
