Chapter 9 - Scene 3 - Weapon Souls

Scene 3 - Weapon Souls

After placing the concealment spell, Master Mo’s expression turned solemn, “Now you must remember this well disciples. Your weapons are powerful and have their own souls. They might have picked you as their masters, yet they will attempt to forcibly change your mindset to that of their old owner.”

Saren titled his head in confusion, “If these things are so dangerous, why did you bring us here so we could choose them? Wouldn't it be better to get some new ones instead?”

Hearing Saren’s question Master Mo smiled, his eyes dancing with passion, “These weapons hold ancient secrets gained from either their previous wielders or the gods they vanquished! Their cultivation path, their memories, powerful legacies, and other profound teachings on martial arts, forging, alchemy, anything could be hidden within these weapons, the possibilities are endless! If you are able to dominate the weapon, everything it holds will be yours! Even if they are dangerous if you wish to grow stronger these weapons hold the greatest of fortunes!”

Eyeing his disciples and seeing their hesitant expressions, Master Mo followed up, “Now I won’t force you to take them. If you can't brave the danger, you can leave these weapons behind.”

Nena beamed, full of wonder, “Ummm... Master, can we pick more than one?”

Sol asked as well, “Can I get another?”

“Me too!”

Stunned at their responses and seeing their resolute expressions, Master Mo only now realized that his disciples weren't afraid of the danger at all, in fact, they were willing to face even greater danger in the hopes of getting stronger! He couldn’t hate them for how they acted as greed was good for a cultivator. Too little and they would never be able to reach the peak, too much and they would most likely bring about their own deaths.

Master Mo pat Nena's head with a laugh, “Now, now you little ones shouldn’t bite off more than you can chew at your level. Learn about and dominate your weapon’s souls before taking on another or your very own soul will be put under too much stress and collapse under the pressure, turning you into a vegetable. But I shall warn you once more, and remember this, reaching for unknown power while not respecting it can quite possibly kill you! Not in only body, but also in soul and Dao!”

The siblings were unhindered by their master’s words and instead asked questions about their weapons until they were satisfied, at which point Master Mo told them, “Come now, let us go test out your weapons!”

Master Mo led the nine and Marley towards the training wing, where layers and layers of protective formations covered the entire room.

Master Mo suddenly turned to face them, thrusting his arms out to the sides with a smile on his face, “Welcome to the training hall!”

As his voice faded, a massive ten-foot tall golem made of stone fell from the ceiling!

His smile stretching from ear to ear, Master Mo ignored his disciple's gaping expressions, "Who’s first?"
