Chapter 8 - Scene 2A, 2B

Scene 2A - Prince Dai

The prince sat atop his thirty foot was lizard, clad in black and gold with his cape flickering in the wind. A black pony tail came out of the helmet on his head, and was trying its best to cover his face and hide his earthen brown eyes. The heavy sword in his hand trembled as if awaiting the coming slaughter.

The air was stifling, filled with a growing killing intent that made the soldier sweat just by standing there. They dreaded the first clash, but he did not. There was no fear in his eyes as he stared death in the face.

The prince's stead moved to the forefront of the army as he lined his voice with qi and yelled, “This is your last chance to get off my people's land, Duke Kavor! Leave now or my forces shall slaughter your people without remorse!”

An old man riding atop a three tailed Wind Lion snorted loudly, “There is no use in discussion, Prince Dai! The enmity between our two kingdom is too deep, and your sitty father double crossing us in the trade agreement is the last straw! I shall have your head!”

“Then you leave me no choice Duke Kavor…. Prepare to die!”

Prince Dai, his eyes cold, rose his earth mana covered blade, “The enemy is in front of us, brothers and sisters! Go forth for family, for honor, for our country, and smite the fools that dare provoke us upon our lands. CHARGE!!”

Battle cries filled the air as the prince dashed forward atop his war lizard, his loyal soldiers right behind him, “KILL! KILL! KILL!”

The Duke yelled back at his own army, “Get ya asses movin, ya bastards! Release the fiend elves to wipe these swine out!”

Scene 2B - Jayce

The stench of blood filled the heated air as bodies of friend and foe clashed. Jayce and Jao were in the thick of it, desperately fighting tooth and nail against the twisted fiend elves.

The elves stood with a hunched back with claws two meters long, their eyes a demonic red by nature, their bodies a sort of pale that made it seem as if they had never seen the light of day, and complex runes the color of blood were branded upon their sickly flesh. No intelligence shone in their eyes, only an endless blood lust that came from every fiber of their being. It was no wonder that there was an ongoing argument to change their names to cavern demons.

“Fucking elves, go back to hell from whence you came!” Jayce screamed at the top of his lungs as his spear stabbed through an elf's head, causing it to explode. The newly headless corpse dropped down into a puddle of black and red blood, but Jayce had no time to care for it.

A sense of crisis appeared within his mind, and Jayce immediately dodged back as the claws of two screaming elves passed just inches away from his face. Two paladin shields instantly covered his front, and Jayce was allowed to breathe a little. With each fiend elf having a cultivation ranging from the third or fourth level of Heavenly Body Refinement, it had been an uphill battle even since the vine creatures had rushed out from behind enemy lines.

Blood curdling screams mixed in with horrible crunching sounds appeared constantly as his men were battered by enemies that didn't fear death, only to be dragged away by a swarm once they finally fell. Each scream he heard infuriated Jayce to no end. His men were being devoured, and he could do nothing to help.

A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.

Despite fighting nonstop for one hour, the elves didn't seem to decrease at all. If anything, the fiend elves were only growing stronger while Jayce's side grew weaker by the moment. Half an hour ago, he had even received a mental message from the mage division saying that they had fallen into a devious trap and were unable to help better the current situation.

The accursed fiend elves were only being controlled by a few dozen tamers, but those tamers reformed the mangled bodies of each fallen elf by using the blood on the battlefield, allowing the elves to return to the fray. The fact that the fiend elves absorbed the power of each soldier they ate, making their flesh and qi stronger, didn't help either.

When Jayce had heard that the tamers were on the other side of the elven swarm, he immediately sent Jao out with an attachment of mountain wolf riders to assassinate them. Until the tamers were killed, Jayce and his troops did their best to hold the elves back.

But defending wasn't easy. The damned elves would try their hardest to drag away every man, woman, and beast they could, not caring how many were lost in the process.

Everyone had their limits and Jayce came as no exemption. He could handle his comrades dying in battle. He could deal with being pushed back at every step. But each time he heard the scream of a soldier being eaten alive, he had to bite his lip, clench his fist, and try his hardest not to rush in and murder every elf in sight.

Jayce was in the middle of recovering his qi when one of the paladins protecting him was dragged off by the elves. He opened his eyes just in time to see the woman's face twist in horror. Then the elves tore into her, and Jayce's restraint vanished like the wind. He had had enough of these shitty elves.

His mind clouded with anger, Jayce jumped into the fray with his sword and short spear in hand, "Damned mindless demon spawn, face your death!"

The remaining paladins were stunned with disbelief when Jayce jumped over them, forgetting to drag their commander back in their shock.

As soon as Jayce had left the ground he had unleashed his skill <=Wind Armament=>, cladding his weapons in wind qi. His short spear made a humming screech as it pierced forward, killing a dozen elves while a slash of wind was released from his sword, bisecting seventeen more.

Suddenly Jayce felt as if all the power had left his body and realized with horror that he had overextended his qi reserves. Having lost the power to stand, he fell to his knees, ‘Shit, what did I just do?! Is this how I’m going to die?’

The fiend elves readily filled the gap, racing towards the unprotected Jayce. Holding a faint hope in his heart, Jayce yelled out with all his remaining power, “Brother Jao, to me!”

His jump had put him almost in the middle of the elven swarm, leaving the paladins within the defense line no way to reach him before the elves did. Jayce felt that last small hope fade away, and closed his eyes, waiting for his death... A thunderous boom blew him back, sending him up into the air over the defense line, right behind the frantic paladins

‘Eh?’ Jayce couldn't understand what had happened. he stared blankly for a moment before sitting up and looking with shock at Jao, who was covered in filthy elven blood as he sat upon a wolf that was busy treating a fiend elf as a chew toy.

Holding his spear in hand, Jao and his strike force had cut a bloody path straight into the back lines and came back just in time to see Jayce foolishly risking his life.

Finding some source of hidden strength, Jayce ordered at the top of his lungs,“Open a path, quickly let them in!”

The wall of paladins parted, opening a path just long enough to allow the forty three mountain wolf riders that remained of the hundred man force inside before quickly closing the gap, “Mission accomplished! Eighteen confirmed tamers killed! Requesting the order for a full assault, Sargent Jayce!!”

Jayce stared dumbly at Jao before laughing crazily and infusing his voice with what little qi he had recovered, “Request granted, Young Hero Jao! All forces, full assault the bastards! The time to strike is now!”
