Chapter 10 - Scene 1 - Battle Prowess

Scene 1 - Battle Prowess

Len suddenly stood up, surprising her brothers and sisters, and bowed to Master Mo, speaking in a whisper, “Allow me to go first, Master!”

She carried her scythe in hand, unfolding it behind her back in a casual manner, her Demon Slaying needles hanging on her waist in a black runic satchel that Marley had given her.

Len moved swiftly, her expression calm under her long messy hair. Standing before the large golem, she couldn't resist muttering, “Finally this sister here can vent some anger. Sorry big guy, but I’m going to be impolite.”

Master Mo raised his voice, “The rules are as followed: if you are hit directly by the Golem, your fight is done. Don't worry about being injured as its attacks will faze right through you. You'll be able to block its attacks, but anything not blocked will be considered a hit. Are you ready Len?”

Len’s eyes, even if covered by a jungle of hair, showed a blazing fighting spirit. Her once bleak and unnoticeable aura took a drastic change at this time, making it seem as if a ferocious god of war had descended upon the mortal plane, “Disciple is ready!”

Master Mo snapped his fingers and suddenly the motionless Golem roared to life, moving at a speed one would think impossible for its massive body! It only took three steps and was already upon Len, swiping its trunk-like fist right towards her!

Len snorted coldly, ducking below its fist and pivoting on her foot like a winding demon, causing her robes to spread out like the blooming petals of a flower, her movements alike that of flowing water. With both hands on her scythe, she spun forth to the golem's left flank, using her momentum to slice off its left leg in one swift motion!

Her first time wielding a weapon, Len had surprisingly struck an impeccable blow on the first exchange, shocking everyone present! Even Master Mo and Marley were shocked, though their expressions didn't change.

Master Mo watched on, thinking about the movements Len had shown, ‘Mhmm... the Scythe is giving her the memories of its past owners. The others should get memories of fighting from their weapons as well. I should have increased the difficulty for these youngsters. Consider it your master’s mistake. I thought it would be too early to temper them by throwing them into the fire, but this won't be enough to refine their foundations!’

As he came to a conclusion, Len stood atop the golem's back, cutting off its head with a swift motion, “Weak...”

Before the word had even left her lips, ten massive golems appeared in a circle around her, instantly dashing forth to attack and leaving her with no chance to dodge!

Qi built up under her feet as Len instinctively reached inside of her satchel, pulling three Demon Slaying needles out between her fingers. Tapping off of the golem beneath her feet, Len shot into the air, leaping forward by more than twenty meters and clearing the encirclement with ease. She turned in midair, suddenly shooting out the three needles and piercing three golems square in the head, causing them to explode into a dusty mist!

Len landed on the ground unhindered, her obsidian eyes gleaming with a strange light as she gripped her scythe and charged towards her foes, raging across the stage Large limbs, colossal heads, and massive swirls of dust danced around her as her scythe and needles flew through the air. The maelstrom of movement followed Len wherever she moved within the seemingly endless waves of golems, but no matter how many she killed more would appear.

Her messy hair waved in the air as Len dashed between the golem's massive forms, slicing, piercing and cutting all in her way to the point that she became a mini tornado. With every golem that fell, her bloodlust grew stronger, her edge sharper.

Finally, after destroying the 45th Golem, Len's lack of energy caused her to misstep, causing her to be blindsided from an approaching golem's kick.

The moment she was hit, the golems crumbled away, leaving a layer of dust covering the floor. Drenched in a layer of sweat and dust, Len fell over, passing out on the spot. Marley called some black robed maidens over, ordering them to prepare nine hot baths of herbal medicine.

As the black robed maidens scurried away to follow her orders, Marley carried Len back to her siblings, who were looking on gravely as worry ate away at them. Master Mo quickly reassured them she had just overdrawn her energy, and Marley placed Len down upon a nearby mat one of the black robed maiden has brought over.

Placing her hands on Len's stomach, Marley slowly infused some of her energy into the exhausted girl's body.Len's pale complexion slowly returned to normal, and her siblings breathed sighs of relief.

Master Mo had the black robed men clear the stage after Len had been moved off, and soon he turned to his remaining disciples with a grin, "So, who wants to go next?"

After Len's display he had expected that they wouldn't have the courage to challenge an endless swarm of golems, but to Master Mo's surprise, his disciple's eyes were blazing with an intense fire.
