Chapter 18 - Scene 1 - Eating Out
On the last day before heading to the Sectless sect; the siblings decided to spend time together in town before examination day. Sol after ingesting the pill had recovered about fifty percent of his strength, barely allowing him to move normally.
So the band decided to rent a large carriage to accommodate them for the day, before leaving Dela showed up and insisted on joining the siblings on their outing to the restaurant. They were half unwilling to accept since they wanted it to be a family thing. It was only when she told them that she knew the directions to the place on the top of her head that they allowed her to come along.
They headed for a famous restaurant recommended to them by the inn owner twenty km’s away. The carriage made it fast travel and by noon they reached the restaurant; surprisingly there were many people inside at this time of day.
Vince headed towards the counter with a hint of worry; the place was almost packed to the brim with people. Reaching the head of the line the man who was allowing people in was already shooing people away. Clearly, they were at capacity.
Vince went up and met the man at the desk dressed in fairly fancy clothing, in which the man with a mustache looked upon Vince and his siblings' appearance. Gazing at their clothing and lack of jewelry the man grew displeased with what he saw about to shoo them away.
“My dear… customers as you can see we are at full capacity and can’t accept you unless you have a reservation--”
Despite being looked down upon Vince gave a smile that made eyes seem like crescent moons, placing his hand in front of him to stop the waiter continuing. With a simple action Vince placed his hand on the table in front of the man and left a single gold coin, “I’m sure you have our reservations correct?”
Slyly sliding the coin quietly towards the shocked waiter who couldn’t believe these poorly dressed people had such cash quickly understood the meaning. With a smart nod, the waiter smiled and took the bribe returning to his usual neutral expression as if he’d done this before.
Unauthorized tale usage: if you spot this story on Amazon, report the violation.
The waiter snapped his fingers in which another waiter appeared at the scene at a moment's notice, He gave a small quick look to his sides shiftily making sure no one saw him take the gold coins away. He smiled at Vince and ordered a man to take these guests to the second floor.
A female waiter led them upstairs to the second floor; where there were few tables left for them to eat at. The siblings noticed that the people sitting around eating had better quality clothes which made the girls' faction slightly depressed.
Thinking they had done a good job shopping getting good clothes that came as warm and easy to move in even at a discount! Only now did the girls realize that the forgotten about clothing appearance, alas the money was spent nothing would be gained from being depressed.
No one sitting at the other tables paid attention to the group; they kept chatting excitingly while eating and drinking fine wine. Be it about the state of affairs; a birthday, a successful hunt and even roaring about his good brother getting married.
With such a happy atmosphere the siblings felt that this was pretty good and sat at an empty table was an awaiting waiter walked up to the group, “Here dear guests, check our menu and order want you wish to order!”
The nine fiends began to start to drool as the gazed through a list of items.
“Elder brother I want this it looks yummy!”
“Can… I… Order… this?”
“Vince these noodles look pretty good and cheap!”
In a cheerful mood, Vince smiled at his siblings and nodded, “Alright, alright you gluttons brother understands. Miss waiter I wish to order…”
One after another Vince listed off the items his adorable siblings wanted with a wide smile, as the waitress furiously tried to keep up with the ever-increasing list of food order.
When Vince finished talking the waitress sighed in relief, “Is that all Dear valued customer?”
Gazing at the expectant faces around the time Vince nodded, “That’ll be all!”
Without another word the waitress walked to the kitchen with wide eyes, ‘Dear heavens what are these little monsters ordering over most of the menu! Are they cultivators?’
Dela without no shame at all sat down next to Sol blushing faintly perhaps thinking of what Sol had said to her a few days prior. The male siblings snickered while the females held their hands to their heads sighing inwardly; with the exception of Sol and the younger children Luna, Nena, and Saren.
In the older kids, hearts watching her act with such boldness seemed pretty funny to them when Sol had just said recently if he married her he’d get to eat bread all day.
Sol, on the other hand, was oblivious to how siblings were enjoying a good show; only the embarrassing words he had said to Dela and his sibling rang in his mind. Making the air between the two was awkward as they couldn’t seem to find the words to say to each other.
